  1. I'm exhausted, but home in Sydney now after a huge day of racing. I'll put some pics up later, just for fun. Did you come down kelpiecuddles, or was it too hot?
  2. Of course not So why try and justify this situation as being acceptable?
  3. And you all think it's acceptable to ignore the puppy buyer each time they ask?
  4. My boy grooms my girl sometimes, she has this pained look on her face, like she's just tolerating him but then she will turn around for him to do the other side
  5. Did they say why it took so long or why they had been ignoring you previously? Pretty poor form for a well known DOL member.
  6. Maybe he doesn't like your breath? :p One of my dogs always lays away from me (with her butt in my face), and one always has his face in my face. I don't really know Why, it's just what each of them prefer.
  7. It should be a few weeks for the papers, maybe a month or so. Have you contacted the appropriate states canine council to see if they have been lodged by the breeder? Or have you tried contacting them on facebook, where they are quite actively posting pics of the new litter?
  8. You'd need to eat an awful lot of canesten to be toxic, it would make them sick before they got to the toxic stage (and I mean a few tubes, not a few licks). Tea tree on the other hand has been known to cause issues just by absorption through the skin even without ingestion (undiluted).
  9. Do not put this in an area they can lick, it is toxic!!!
  10. Or no one submitted it for inclusion. It doesn't mean someone isn't registered if they aren't on there. It's run by Sway, it's not an official ANKC list. Go and read the my first post..... I said appears to be.......and yes I know who set it up and I use it all the time to check out a lot of people. Invaluable site Sway. I did read your first post and it appeared to be completely pointless.
  11. Canesten? I use that on my pug when she gets a few fungal spots.

  13. Unless the access from your house to your car is 100% secure, taking her to the car off lead is just all sorts of silly
  14. You're suggesting someone to go Melbourne, from Sydney, to see a vet
  15. Secure dog run might be good for when she's not inside with you. Does she get inside time? And has she been taught to be outside on her own, with toys and treats to keep her occupied?
  16. Yep, it's recommended that two doses of Advantix on usual schedule is needed for optimum coverage.
  17. First race is 8.30am, and there are only 36 races in total so it won't be a massively long day (and typically I'm in one of the first and one of the last, as well as some inbetween so will be there all day  But last year we were done by early afternoon. I loved once when someone came up to me and said "are you minimax?" I cracked up laughing, because DOL is the only place I use this username so I knew it had to be someone from here
  18. I know some of you were interested in this last time it was on in Nowra, so just giving it a bump as there are dragon boat races on again in Nowra next Saturday, January 11th. I'll be there this time, not with the dogs though - I'll be busy enough as it is without them, I'm paddling as well as managing two crews
  19. One of mine would probably lay down and sleep if I put a towel on his head, thinking it was night time and the lights had gone out
  20. Inner West is more dog friendly than lower North Shore (Chatswood etc) in my experience, especially when it comes to dog parks, dog friendly parks, dog friendly people, etc but they are vastly different area so it depends what you're looking for. I've lived in both (currently an Inner Westie, but was a lower North Shorite for ages, in St Leonards). As for travelling, I've done Sydney to Melbourne with the pugs (the coast rd, so the long way) and I stopped mostly when I got restless, they slept and I had to wake them for pee breaks! I had window shades up for them but found they annoyed my side vision too much and I couldn't see properly, but there are probably better ones - mine were an afterthought we bought on the way. Flea, tick, heartworm in Sydney, yes. Frontline is pretty much useless here, most vets say the fleas have become immune to it - not sure if that's true but it's rare to find Frontline works on a dog very effectively in metro Sydney. I use Advantix and Interceptor Spectrum. Depends on what area you end up in as to vets, and if you want a local vet or happy to travel. Not far from Chatswood is one of the main 24hr/emergency vets in Sydney, SASH. And another in Homebush (ARH) which isn't a huge distance from the Inner West (depending where you are, as the "Inner West" is actually a pretty spread out area).
  21. So, (by some peoples unrealistic judgements) breeders aren't meant to sell the pups they aren't keeping to show to the pet market. Are they meant to keep every pup from a litter of 10? Where do pets come from, if that's the case? And I hope people aren't about to judge people for hoarding
  22. What do they do with pups they don't want to show then? Drown them to keep them out of the hands of the majority pet owning public? What that usually means is that they won't breed JUST for the pet market. The dogs not wanted or identified as show prospects are sold as pets. Thats exaxtly how it was meant, lucky. No drowning as far as i know! It does devalue the pet buyer a bit too, which is a shame but each to their own and whatever works for you. Then they are breeding for the pet market. I have no time for breeders like this. Best let everyone who wants a pet get one from a BYB then, if registered breeders are that exclusive.
  23. Oh I'd happily bring my pugs up to play one day, but Max (my super water beach baby pug) would probably take off with Odie and leave Hank there with my other dog who just potters around quietly, and that would defeat the purpose  haha thanks MM that's very kind :D Odie loses it when she meets a pug, they total get her "specialness" and Hank loves anything with a squishy face, I think because he's so used to being around Odie. Unfortunately Odie also panics when she goes into the water at the beach so I don't let her go too far (frenchies can't swim all that well anyway so I supervise very closely). I'm thinking of getting her a swimming vest to see if that'll help  Oh mine can't swim, they sink like bricks  But they only go in up to where the water touches the underside of their belly, they've never tried to go any further. They run in and out and splash like maniacs though and come out drenched. Boston, however, likes to faceplant in the sand and drink the salt-water and puke it back up Max has a life jacket but it annoys her as she can't really run around in it.
