  1. I wish I did know someone with an air rifle! I'll have a look for bird scarers next time I'm out shopping.
  2. My scarves didn't really deter the little blighter. It even tried to 'bomb' me when we were returning from a dog walk just after sunset It has a 'partner'. I'm finding all this very interesting as Indian Mynah's are usually seen in flocks rather than in pairs. Sooo which DOL dog can I expect here tomorrow
  3. Alternatively, maybe I could borrow a bird catching DOL dog
  4. I hung lightweight scarves from some existing cuphooks! They fluttered and flapped beautifully, but it got too hot to let Misha out onto the deck, so I don't know if they will work. Hopefully the temperature will drop soon and Misha will take up her post on the deck. The scarves should stop the swooping but probably won't stop the bird from screeching from the bottlebrush tree adjacent to the deck. Does anyone know where to buy large black plastic birds that hang and sway in the breeze? I know I've seen them somewhere but can't remember where.
  5. Yes KC, definitely an Indian Myna! AKA the 'rat of the skies' :) Sooo looks like I need to get creative with hanging something durable but cheap. Probably not a good look especially as the deck is at the front of the house, but surely it will only be for a few weeks?
  6. Misha is an indoor dog who likes to occasionally hang out on the deck and watch the world go by. For the last 2 days our peace has been shattered by a persistent Indian Myna who keeps dive bombing and screeching at Misha. Yesterday afternoon I 'lost it' and greatly amused my neighbours by standing guard with an upturned straw broom hoping to whack the bird to kingdom come Needless to say it was a waste of time and energy. Years ago an Indian Myna speared my cat in the eye and I would hate it if the same happened to Misha. Naturally she looks up at the bird because of the screeching as it dive bombs. I would get rid of the Myna's nest if I could find it, but it is too well hidden. I'm thinking it might be best to rig something to scare the bird off. The deck is partly roofed and I could hang things from the edge of the ceiling, but what to use? I thought of making some big blackbirds out of cardboard but they wouldn't last if/when it rains. Any suggestions for a quick and easy solution?
  7. What is meant by 3 year regime for C3 ?
  8. Where's the like button
  9. So sorry for your pain Cazstaff. I live in the area and didn't know Splish Splash had opened a new business. Are they using the same name?
  10. Hoping not to offend but this gave me a good giggle!
  11. Sounds great Noishe. We don't live near the coast but we've had 4 beach-side doggy holidays and it was awesome to see how Misha loved doing zoomies on the beach! Sadly she hates water but other than that beach visits are a wonderful excursion for us!
  12. Slightly OT but I've always wondered ... does anyone know how long a flea bite remains itchy?
  13. In the shower with a hand held rose. I have a small plastic table that fits in the shower so I don't have to bend down or kneel to do her
  14. I've never heard of nasal mites either! I'm guessing they would be very irritating. Fingers crossed that he has solved Daisy's problem. Let us know what he says about treating Penny & Mac.
  15. He left $500 in the car Obviously didn't mean as much to him as it would to me :)
  16. Your love of Roo, and your bravery and determination has touched so many. I'm so sorry that you now have to deal with the emotional pain giving Roo her wings. Be very kind to yourself, we are all here for you.
