I addressed that in the comment i left behind - No idea if they will post it, the paper hates me when it comes to animal stories - I know one of the guys who works at the paper, i wish i was informative enough to do some sort of story on rescue or puppy farms, but sadly I am not

the only bit they can eat is the brown treat - I had one lot of bones for 3 years, I actually got new ones for Christmas as the old ones are too feral to keep inside! they have now been turned into outside toys
-
my Everlasting treat ball lasted 10 mins I love the bouncy buddy bones - they do come with food, but my guys love to chew them without food on them (At is food aggressive, so cant have food laying around)
-
you can get repellent creams as well, some with antiseptic in them
-
I feed any chicken frozen, At has done the same thing, even with a frame, tries to eat it all at once, if it is frozen, he HAS to chew

I LOVE My receptionist at our vets! There is one who is there most of the time, and a few nurses who relieve her when needed, they are all great, know me when i say just my first name and also know what animal see what vet. (3 different vets, i only use 2 of them, Sumo and Fanta go to one, the others to the other - no idea why, it just worked out that way ) Also love most of the vets, and most of the vet nurses, (one i have a personal problem with for reasons not relating to the vets! - saying that, she always does her job well and treats my pets fine, but i usually try to go when she isnt working ) I have no problems getting through to the vets when needed, they call me back if they are busy when I call - I wouldnt go to any other vet!

god, i am sitting here in tears While i have lost a few pets growing up, I have only ever had to make the choice on 1 dog, and help make the choice on another dog One was our SBT, Zeus, he was 14 and going down hill fast, I wanted him PTS a while before we did it, but Mum wasnt ready. She just rung me one day and told me to come and get him, that it was time - I never asked her what made her say it was ok, but he must have let her know. I went to pick him up and he was happy to see me, walking fine, acting like nothing was wrong. We went to our vet, on the way in he collapsed while walking up the stairs, our vet who had been great, she says it like it is and will tell you if she thinks they have more time or not, she checked him out and told us it was the right choice. He was a grumpy shit at the vets :D , so they took him out the back and got him set up, with a line in, so we could sit with him and she could give him the drugs without us seeing him get upset - i am so glad that my final memories are of him sitting in my lap on the floor and just falling asleep. It was so peaceful, our vet also left us there for as long as we wanted, when we were ready, she gently took him and handing him to Pets At Peace. the other dog was not mine, he was a 6 month bull terrier who was a spinner, with his owners we knew it was time, i also held him while he got his wings. It broke my heart, he was such a happy boy I have also had a dog pass away on his own, duke was a 8 year old bulldog with heart problems, we had no idea his time was near, while he was old, there was nothing else going on, his heart was the same as it always was, he was his usual happy self and showed no signs of his time being near. My brother rung me in a panic, said Dad found duke not moving, i ran over and he was gone, he took the choice out of our hands, and honestly, i think it was harder than us having to make the choice... we had no time to prepare ourselves for losing him, it hit my dad hard so yes, i do believe they tell you when it is time, but sometimes it is just hard for us to be able to do what is needed. The thought of losing any of mine makes me sick, i have a 9, 7.5, almost 7, almost 6 and 2 year old, I hate that 4 of them are getting into old age and threads like this rip me apart thinking that time is going to go to fast and then I will be in your situation. Good luck, and whatever you decide, it is the right choice

Oi here as well, They all look around to see who i am watching to see if it is them in trouble :D

I am so lucky, my pets do not care one bit about them - Just talked to neighbour, she said she popped her head over the fence when she heard fireworks, to find Atlas chewing on a toy, and kaos laying on her back fast asleep!

I have had a lot of people not happy with frontline this year! I frontlined my guys this morning, we dont have fleas, but i am paranoid, as i feel i am the only one in town who does not have them! I only used frontline cause i had some here, once i have used it all, i will most probably be going to Comfortis

wow, i dont know any kennels that would allow that much play, it is not good for any dogs to play ALL day Hope it isnt anything too serious

where did you get turkey wings from? I want! From the IGA here. They come prepacked in the meat section. I think they're Ingham brand. They're 'wingettes' if that makes sense- separated into the drumette and the other bit. I buy the drumettes and they look like a big chicken drumstick. I think they're about $5 for 4. They were actually the first bone Roo ever tried to bury The other day when she had one though there was nothing left i have never seen them at IGA - im guessing you are already on the way here? if not, and you do see this... want to grab me some? :D

My vet has only ever charged me for one consult, the most i have taken in is 3. Dogs never go in together, they hate each other when on lead and out of the house So if i need to take 2, it is a dog and a cat or two, if the dogs have to go in together, i will book one for the morning, and one for the afternoon - and am happy to pay the extra for that I dont think I have ever spent more than 15 mins in with the vet, even with the 3 of them (vaccinations). I have a great vet who drop everything for me and will put you forward if it is urgent, I took the cat in one day, Atlas wanted to go for a drive.. as he got into the car he hit his foot and took 3 nails off I carried him into the vet, blood pouring all over the place, they dropped what they were doing, fixed him up, then when it was my turn, fixed the cat.. and still only charged me for one visit!

I had a huge grass fire behind me last year, while the chances of it getting to me were slim (it did burn my neighbours fence down, but was moving in the other direction) I had packed the animals up and left. Neighbour said i was silly to do so, but I rather be safe than sorry. Had the wind changed, or someone had something flammable against the fence...who knows what could have happened? I have 3 cat crates in the room near the front door, one dog crate set up at all times, and one folded up - but easy to get to. and I know they all fit in my car, and also know what way to put them to fit them (if you have a smaller car and think things fit - go and try it first, it may not be as easy as you think!), so i rather pack up and leave and the first sign of danger. I also have all my important documents in the one spot, so if i do have to get out, i know what to grab, if i have time.
-
I dont think i could leave mine either, thinking of it makes me sick, but as sas said, you wont know till it happens to you and you have to do it.
-
no, i dont think it is cruel, there are a lot worse things than not walking your dog! Atlas hardly ever goes for a walk (good timing for this thread, I am just about to take him out today!) He has sore feet and isnt a walking fan, he also hates the car, so unless he is going to the vet, most of his time is spent at home inside, or out in the yard. Ask anyone who has met him, he is a happy dog and happy to do nothing I also dont walk kaos a lot, and she is also a happy dog She is fine as long as she gets to spend time with me I dont walk kaos often because honestly, i dont have the time, and when I do, i am usually exhausted and the last thing i want to do is go for a walk. Most days i work 12+ hours, full on days, and when I get home, i have enough trouble getting food for me to eat, let alone taking her for a walk But, if she NEEDED the walk, then yes, i would take her, if she was a dog that needed it every day i would make myself do it, but as said above, as long as she is with me, she is happy
