  1. I have a water dog who is scared of the beach (only been 2 times) and a dog who hates water, who LOVED the beach!
  2. that is what I thought. I have met many Aussies and it is bull that they are healthier than the British. I am sorry about your pup
  3. I can see both sides of it... i ordered one, but not sure if i will use it - my number is splashed around town everywhere, so i have no problem with sticking it on my window My neighbours all know, if there is a fire and i am not home, smash the back gate open so the dogs can get out and open the cat run so the cats can get out. if they can, catch the pets and dump them in someone elses yard (18 units and only 2 of us have pets, so 16 free back yards to use). We have a huge back paddock that is fenced off and the only way out is via the driveway... that would be full of fire trucks... so animals should be easy to catch once i get there, If not, i would rather risk them taking off, then getting stuck in the house. I would never expect someone to get into my house to save my pets, i would never forgive myself if someone lost their life to save my animals. And what happens if one of the pets are not home? and someone is silly/brave enough to enter the house? They may waist time looking for a pet that isnt home... Ok, just reading that... i dont think i will use it
  4. I would never leave Atlas in side unrestricted, if I have to have him in, he is crated, I wouldnt have a house left! Kaos tho, I leave her in from time to time, she ends up under the doona in my bed fast asleep!
  5. i dont rotate, if i get a new one i hide it in the toy box till kaos finds it but they have their outside toys (ones that last longer and can be chewed on while unsupervised) and their inside toys... the best toys are all under my bed... Atlas cant get under there, so Kaos steals them and hides them there
  6. I have been pet sitting since 2004, plenty of demand for it, if you know what you are doing and dont stuff it up - there are some horror stories out there.
  7. dont thank me, i have no idea ! ;) I just like what i like without seeing any faults or anything
  8. I know nothing about photos and editing ;) But I like them, I like the 4th one best
  9. must be the day for it, i got a 7:30 am call from a DOLer whos penis was stuck, she told me i was the first one she thought of calling because the amount of times it has happened to Atlas ;) I found cold water works the best, gets everything back into place, but have had to have one vet trip for a bit of help ETA Said doler just messaged me and told me it was not her penis that was stuck, but her dogs... thought i better clear that up here
  10. I believe our Duke was from a litter of 8, natural birth
  11. I have both, female dog, male dog, 2 female cats, one male cat - the two males are the ones who took ages to like each other, but i think it was because the kitten was very scared and would hiss and carry on, making it exciting for Atlas Mum and Dads Male cat gets along with Atlas, so do not think it is a gender thing
  12. Please do not feed the dogs - if you did this at my house there is a good chance you could end up with one of my dogs dead - i have a very food aggressive dog. You also do not know what the dogs eat and if they are allergic to something, never ever feed someones dog without the owners ok.
  13. I never ever liked Greys, till i met my first one It was at a pet expo and i spent almost all day sitting on the couch they had there with the dogs, I feel in love and know I will own one one day!! Even Mum, who isnt a dog person, agreed with me!
  14. cant comment on the punchers But my dog had a wart removed from his leg a while ago, it wasnt that big, but it was annoying Atlas so they removed it and took a fair bit out of his leg to do so:
  15. I have pet sat long term, one lot of dogs for 6 months, the animals all cope well and i have only had 2 dogs who i recommended to use a kennel next time - they tried to get out and one barked all night and ended up sleeping in my spare room each night! The dogs stayed in their own homes, and I go over and visit them.
  16. I have 2 moggys and a British Shorthair, It took a while for Atlas and sumo to get along, but other than that, i have had no problems! Dad and Mum have a dog and a Maine coon, and I have met many other mixes of cats and dogs!

    Bull Terrier

Ohh, us Bully People are a bit slack! wont answer them all, some of them have already been answered! What is my relationship with the breed? (ie breeder, first time owner etc) I fell in love with the Bull Terrier about 20 years ago, I finally got my first 7 years ago. I have also worked for 2 years with a breeder, they had a few Bull Terriers and they also had 2 litters while I was working for them. How common is it in Australia? I see a few around town here, I think it has more to do with that we have a breeder who lives near towns, I know other people who have never met one before. What is the average lifespan? I have met a 14 year old Bully My boy will be 8 in August What is the general temperament/personality? Stubborn!! They will do anything you ask them... as long as they get something out of it!! Atlas will push me all the time. They are true clowns and there isnt a day that goes past that I have not laughed at something he has done! they also like to 'help'. no matter what it is you are doing, they have to be there and find out what is going on and how they can best get in the way! How much daily exercise is needed for the average adult? My boy is pretty lazy, a small walk once a week he is happy, he does love something to chew on and will play with my other dog from time to time, but sleep is his main thing! I do know another dog who needs a LOT of attention, she needs 2 big walks a day and a good training session just to stop bouncing off the walls. Is it a breed that a first time dog owner could easily cope with? yes and no, if you research and know what you are in for, then yes, but they do push boundary's alot and you need to be a strong leader with them. Atlas was MY first dog (not family dog) and he drove me mad, I knew what I was in for, but it was still a shock! Even now he will try to get away with things he has not been allowed to do in years, I have to keep an eye on him at all times and let him get away with nothing! Can solo dogs of this breed easily occupy themselves for long periods? PERSONALLY with my dog - yes, he is more than happy to be home alone. I have met others who hate it and need a person or another dog around at all times How much grooming is required? Not much! a brush every few days, a bath from time to time and nails cut Is it too boisterous for very small children or for infirm people (unless the dog is well trained)? yes! They need training, they are solid dogs and can easily knock someone over. Saying all that, I would never not have a bully in my life, they are pig headed and drive me mad, but thats what i love about them!!
