  1. Ronin and Tigger got to catch up this morning after missing each other for around 3 weeks. It was an awesome session but only managed to take these shots as we were just enjoying ourselves so much that I forgot about the camera LOL This one is from the river showing Ronin's physique - his hindquarters don't slope - he just saw a fish jumping out of the water and was very interesting in it :D
  2. I used to have a schnauzer and my parents still do, we used to pluck but in more recent times their vet has recommended no-plucking :) So I guess it is all about education and it seems things are slowly changing. Luckily for me it is a non issue being a husky owner, I can only imagine the nightmare that would present if I had to pluck Ronin's ears... I imagine I wouldn't be able to type very well without fingers
  3. my old pop told me a way to get rid of them many years ago- not politically correct - or legal these days for that matter Get a flat saucer and crack a raw egg and a splash of beer. Get a long thin metal pole - like rebar, when it comes out you whip it along the ground and it will break its back. I did this years ago when Tiger snakes would come up from Herdsman lake to my parents backyard and we were worried it would bite our Maltese terrier that liked to hunt for frogs.
  4. bah-luddy hell, dugits are highly venomous !!!
  5. Those are some seriously cool pic CrazyCresties, and that sequence from Kirislin is amazing
  6. Oh cool, I will be definitely be getting a K9+ when I need to replace mine. I bought some Polar collars from K9+ so I can attest to the excellent and so friendly customer service Bummed that timing was out for me at the time, but that is life :)
  7. Yeah, it is a bummer that K9 + are out of the large, I hung out for months but they weren't in and weren't going to be in for another 3 months -that was last June - September so don't know if they ended up getting stock? I ended up getting an Animates (the newer beige one) it seems very good, not sure if it is as good as the K9+ but it was the best I could get my hands on when I couldn't get the K9+ and I needed it for the car.
  8. Thanks Happypaws :) Yeah they get on well - even when Ronin is mouthy- he is gentle though :D
  9. I must say Horrible Herbert's ears pricked up when I said dating.... He thinks he might have a future with chicky babes. Thanks very much Denali :) Thanks so much, that is very kind of you :) Thanks SG :) Best of luck getting Quinn to take the full plunge - I don't have any suggestions on helping Quinn get into it, hopefully some people might have suggestions. Maybe try a light harness and long line? I remember taking Ronin to the river when he was around 14 weeks and my jaw dropped when he ran straight in and started swimming perfectly, all in less than a minute LOL It is interesting that Ronin was the last puppy to venture into the clam pool when he was a wee pup and still with our breeder LOL I saw some photos of Ronin's sister that our breeder kept and she is identical in looks and personality both in and out of the water :)
  10. I teach Japanese swordsmanship so am hoping that will deter the little buggers  Ronin will be a back up too. can you imagine his giving a beau the once over? What totally beautiful photos.Thank you for sharing. Thanks very much VM, but please don't mention dating...ahaaaaarrrrrrrrghhhh :D
  11. If he doesn't, I am packing my bags and leaving home.
  12. oooh, I like the sound of that Great meal and I hope he continues with it :)
  13. Thanks HW Yeah, we are pretty lucky here :) Yanchep is seriously beautiful :)
  14. Sorry no advice from me but the photos are so gorgeous
  15. Excellent news I hope the wounds are nothing serious
  16. I haven't updated in a while, and I suppose these fit into the best mates as my daughter is best mates with Ronin. :) So we went to the river for a swim, Ronin hasn't had a swim since he was around 14 weeks, so it was good to see he is still a "husky-beaver" :D My apologies if there are too many pics here for you all.
  17. I like the protexin green label, but the yellow (?) one I think is more concentrated so it may work out more economical in the end. There are a few other doggie ones that are mean't to be good but I have no experience with them. And yep, Huskies need less food due to their excellent metabolism so they will stack on the weight if you are not careful :)
  18. Some huskies do have sensitive stomachs, and even slight changes will cause the runs. I say some, as my boy was fed raw and kibble right from the time he was on solids and he never had issues, but I also introduced him to every meat and offal type that I could get my hands on quite early - he is on fully raw now. If the meat/organs isn't fed with some bones then this can contribute to the soft stools, there is also the theory that a dogs stomach acidity will change to accommodate the raw meat and bones when they are primarily on raw. You mention cost, but if you shop carefully the raw shouldn't cost much more than high quality kibble, also noting that huskies will need around 25% less food than most dogs of equivalent size. I normally spend maximum around $7kg on average. I think probiotics are a great addition to a dogs diet or raw green tripe if you can get it and this may help with tummy issues Anyway, as DDD said "One food might suit one dog, but not the other. Same as humans. Trial and error." and this is especially true with huskies I would think generally speaking that either all raw or all kibble might suit your dog best - but I am really guessing based on what I know from a lot of Husky owners :)
  19. ROFLOL Ronin mugs me the same as the husky in the vid. Not pleasant with 25kg bouncing on me and tries to dig me out if I hide under the covers. nice to know I am not alone
  20. Fair enough DDD, I haven't researched it like you have. I was just going on what I remembered from the Chinese Doctor many years ago. But what you say about using the residue makes more sense for it to be done for such a long time
  21. I used to make it when I broke my foot years ago - it was recommended by the Chinese acupuncturist I was seeing to help with recovery. He said 8-10 hours was all that was needed, but longer may be better but not necessary... according to him anyway :) You can go nuts with what you put in it, garlic will be totally safe in the levels you would use and may have some extra health benefits. Parsley is also a good addition as is celery and celery leaves, perhaps a couple of bay leaves. I would also consider adding a half teaspoon of turmeric, a dessert spoon of fresh raw turmeric would be great if you can get it locally.
  22. Yeah, if the bones crumble in your fingers they are no doubt soft enough :) Not sure about the coffee LOL, maybe try decaf or the carob kind for Danny :D
