  1. I totally agree with the cool calendula tea, I do it frequently on occasions when Ronin has had eye discharge. I sometimes add around 8 drops of colloidal silver to the cup of cold tea as well. You can add a little natural sea salt if you wish. I don't have experience with the condition your boy is suffering from, or any experience with the lubrication part, but as far as an eye rinse goes the above works really well.
  2. Oh gosh, thinking of you and Danny - I hope things improve.
  3. Aww, Happy Gotchaday Didi, what a gorgeous girl she is :)
  4. Nice harnesses but I need a front attach point ;-) Thanks for the suggestion. The non stop one has a low anchored front attach D Ring.
  5. The only one I can think of that will suit is the Non-Stop Dogwear line harness http://www.non-stopdogwear.no/index.php/engï¿ÂÂ%C2%BDï¿ÂÂ%C2%BD/Our-products/Harnesses http://non-stopdogwear.co.uk/padded-half-harness-138-p.asp Something from Manmat may also be suitable http://www.manmat.cz/en/products-dog-harnesses-62 Both make high quality gear and both are available in Australia.
  6. Thanks! How big is Luna?? EDIT - Just looked back and see Luna is 77cm
  7. That is brilliant! I love how Maddie's head rocks while she is digging  Great zoomies when Stan tries to have a turn. I am more and more convinced Greys and Huskies have a lot in common  All the toys in the world and nothing beats a patch of dirt to dig in :D
  8. I've just ordered a large grey one from K9 Pro for my 14 month old Husky - for my wife who prefers a front leader and the old black-dog one is too small now and has caused a sore under the armpit I think I have may have ordered too big as he is around 74cm around the chest ?? Hopefully Bec will see this and advise me and perhaps change the order to a medium orange???
  9. Awww thanks DDD, that is very kind of you :) And I am already living in fear of Caitlins teenage years.
  10. I have mentioned before how great it is to have a relationship with your breeder... I sent Ronin's sister a present for her first birthday and our breeder a book called "Winterdance - the fine madness of running the Iditarod" (highly recommended book by the way) Just as a little token of how grateful I am to have one of their precious puppies. Yesterday I received in the post the most wonderful card and book of Ronin's first 8 weeks that our breeder made up for us! I must say that this nearly brought a tear to my eyes as it was so lovely and obviously took a lot of time and care to put together :) So the point of my post is just to say that finding a good breeder and continuing a relationship is so wonderful and rewarding, I consider her to be a friend now and we are always swapping stories and photos of our beautiful littermates.
  11. Oh, dear that must have been frightening. I am glad he is doing okay now.
  12. That might indeed be the case. I also wouldn't want a co-ownership agreement or breeding if I had a bitch. I would consider stud with the breeder of my dog had this been wanted by them. But never to stud my dog without express desire from our breeder. :)
  13. Thanks, I should elaborate, I mean contracts such as breeding contracts, I don't mind contracts like bi-annual checkups or just regular updates. Breeding contracts make me feel more or less like the dog isn't truly mine, since I have to bring the dog back to breeder for them to use as breeding stock. Contracts solely for the well being of the pup, I'm completely fine with I think any responsible breeder will want to be assured that you won't breed from their lines, hence the contract. This doesn't affect ownership it is to stop backyard breeders and puppy mills. :)
  14. The yellow looks like it could be fungus based. Either way, you have got it early so I would be trying to keep it dry, with H202 or an alcohol based anti fungal gel. It could be a very early hot-spot, wet eczema and again keeping dry would be my advice. I was going to say dabbing betadine but this will probably stain the white fur, so maybe the listerine as previously recommended.
  15. Welcome to the forum Why are you wanting a breeder without contracts?? I would wager that any good breeder of Rotties will most certainly have contracts. I would personally steer clear from any breeder that didn't have a contract and an application/interview process :)
  16. I fed brains the other day as part of Ronin's meal - phwahhh what a stink, Zombie farts are eye wateringly rank :D Sad think is that all I have left in the organ department is a bit of liver and brain so tonight there is a green haze forecast over Joondanna
  17. Ouch, looks like a hot spot to me. Mim on this forum had a good remedy. Dab with 3% hydrogen peroxide solution (available from chemist and some supermarkets) then dab with betadine liquid. The thing with hot spots is to try and keep them dry, which is a problem as they are sore and the dog licks them for relief which only makes it worse. Vets will often prescribe steroids and antibiotics. My opinion is that you can probably avoid this by trying Mims method as it will dry it very quickly and then begin to heal faster than with creams.
  18. yeah, close enough VM, and thanks for your empathy with this.
  19. Thats not ok with any breed. If anyone did that to one of my dogs they would quickly see who screams louder as i pin them to the floor I hear you Denali, I am no shrinking violet but must admit that I was pretty shocked and stunned at the time, I paid my fee, left and never went back. I considered going back without Ronin to have a 'chat' but decided that I had nothing to gain and I wouldn't be returning under any circumstances . It was sad as I really liked the vet and had seen him for 14 years with my previous dog and he was very kind when it was time for her to be PTS. My parents still see him with their elderly dog so I just let it go.
  20. I don't really want to go much into it, but suffice it to say he was pinning down a 9 week old puppy and Ronin was screaming and screaming and he wouldn't let him up, he was very distressed which is not how I would like a first vet visit to be He wanted to teach him who is boss and said that he couldn't let him up until he stopped. Maybe not technically an Alpha roll, but enough to make me very upset at the time. Maybe it would work with another breed but definitely not with a Husky puppy.
  21. I had to read that twice and swear. The trainer at Puppy School was teaching that and demanded Horrible Herbert know about the techinque. He never will. So glad you could move on to a caring and understanding Vet who respects you and Ronin. Yeah, I was really shocked to be honest and so disappointed as he is a really great vet in all other aspects. I can say that our breeder and her husband wanted to drive across the Nullarbor to slap him Anyway it is all water under the bridge now :)
