  1. Thanks rebanne, I usually do 5, but I had it in my head that 6 was pushing it, so glad to know it's ok.
  2. Thanks heaps rapppie. Off to wrap it in peanut butter now :)
  3. Crap, just realised it's 6 weeks tomorrow since Nixon's last heart worm treatment! Is it still save to give him the tablet? I know it's cutting it fine...
  4. It must be a relief to know that something was wrong, even if it wasn't what you expected! The vet sounded lovely and thorough. Hopefully you're feeling better and can relax some more and let Harry eat when he feels like it. Maybe try giving him some frozen treats - the cold will feel nice if he's teething. I've heard some people suggest frozen bananas?
  5. Such a worry Seren! Hopefully the head vet is a bit more thorough - something doesn't sound right! I'm thinking of you.
  6. If he'll eat bones I'd be giving them to him every day! The worst that will happen is he'll have rock hard poo and really clean teeth!
  7. Sounds tricky maybe try some probiotics in case there's an underlying tummy upset? How often is he fed? My boy was still on 3 meals a day at that age. Smaller meals more often might help?
  8. I hope you're right RSA, that's very reassuring
  9. Hmm, what did he go for first, the fish or the watermelon?! :)
  10. They're marketing is as being effective against paralysis ticks. Hopefully we'll be able to see some tests results or a paper or something to compare with other methods.
  11. The first time I gave Nixon a carrot he was probably about Ernie's age, and he refused to eat it. It was still there when I got home in the arvo, with about 2mm nibbled off the end. I just left it out there, and the next day when I got home, it was gone! He now goes mad for carrots and thinks they're an awesome treat :) So don't give up on Ernie - he may become a super veggie loving dog yet!
  12. A friend of mine was at the vet last night, and they mentioned a brand new tick preventative that will be available in the next couple of weeks. They couldn't remember the name, but with a bit of googling I've come up with 'Nexguard', which is already available in the US. http://www.nexgardfordogs.com/Pages/index.aspx Apparently it is a chewable monthly treatment. My friend said the vet was very impressed by the rep's presentation. Will be interesting to see what people think once it rolls out!
  13. Gorgeous pics! I give Nixon new things to try all the time, and we'll often share a banana. The only thing he won't eat so far is mushroom. I love giving him new things, he's always very considered, and gently mouths whatever it is before tasting. Last night he had some cucumber for the first time, and seemed to enjoy it. We do have 2 macadamia trees and it's a constant worry! Once they're ripe it's fine cos they're too hard to crack, but the tiny green immature ones are a big concern. When they're falling I try to pick them up every day.
  14. They did get him! http://mypolice.qld.gov.au/goldcoast/2014/12/03/stealing-charges-palm-beach/ The creep lives a few suburbs away from me... Making me feel like I need cameras...
  15. He's been found! Thank goodness! http://mypolice.qld.gov.au/blog/2014/12/03/update-appeal-public-assistance-palm-beach/
  16. My boy's dissolvable stitches didn't dissolve properly - but apparently there was a problem with that batch. It was a problem for us because he had quite a painful lump come up on his scar. What you've described does just sound like scar tissue though. If you're really worried take her back to the vet and get them to examine the scar in person.
  17. I'm so sorry VM, he was a beautiful boy.
  18. Wow, great that you got to see her so quickly! At least you've made a good start. Hopefully things will start to improve soon.
  19. Petplan have traditionally had the best coverage. However, they have had some big premium increases lately, and a lot of people are unhappy with them. I would still recommend them, even though they have been a hassle to deal with lately.
  20. I've been using the kong zoom groom - it's super gentle, and Nixon doesn't really mind it - the problem is that he wants to chew on it, so he won;t stay still :) It does a really good job of loosening top coat hairs, then I just have to run my hands over him after to gather all the loose hairs up. I also use an undercoat rake, which is going well. We were given a good rule at puppy preschool - try brushing your arm with it, and if it hurts or doesn't feel very nice on you, then your dog won't like it either.
