  1. I doubt this pup came from a breeder other than a BYB This is all done by an ethical breeder before leaving at no earlier than 8 weeks. Leanne
  2. French Bulldogs 10 years ago where $1200 - $1500, now they are $3000 - $3500 Most breeds have gone up but then so has the cost of foods and vets. Leanne
  3. Here is a couple pics of the pens being used. I prefer to anchore mine to something (crate etc) as have found pups can put thyeir heads into a corner move the crate around. Sammie Lilly was good at this, would move it from room to room  I have about 24 pannels, some are for outside and some inside. used outside (on the left in the first pic Leanne
  4. I use down if I want my dog off furniture etc or if jumping up on people. I use drop if I want my dog to drop to the ground. Leanne
  5. Well my girl has now had to be desexed Looks like that is it for me now after 18 years of showing/breeding. She was my only female and I had a stud lined up to mate her to this season. My new male pup has now got a bad bite (knew he was to good to be true) and has gone to a pet home. Oh well now I can have a life :D Leanne
  6. Have you considered a whippet, I am not sure what they are like with chooks but the whippets I have met all seem to be very gentle with kids and are great inside. Leanne
  7. Loving all the pics FM, the babies are stunning Both you and Charm have done a fantastic job with the babies :D Leanne
  8. My girl has just had a silent season (I think). She was due in season last month and the boys showed interest in her a couple weeks ago but there was no sign of swelling or bleeding, vet also ruled out urine/bladder infection. This would of been her 3rd season, her first was normal and her second was a split season. I have never had any of my girls do this before. Has anyone had their girls do this but have gone on to have normal seasons or successful matings? Leanne
  9. Loving all the fantasic photos, the facial expressions crack me up Saxon as a baby Lilly and saxon playing Leanne
  10. Loving all the gorgeous pics Here is a couple stacked pics of Saxon, can't wait for the weather to cool down so I can get him in the ring. Leanne
  11. Renting is not really an issue for me as long as the fencing is secure and the agent allows dogs inside as Frenchies are mainly inside dogs. Over the past 20 years I have found that 95% own their homes. I also have in my agreement that if the owner can no longer keep the dog for what ever reason I will take it back, I would also be happy to mind the dog while the owners found another house if they had to move be it rented or owned. Leanne
  12. Hi Sway, Can you please change mine (Ozstar) from SBT's to French Bulldogs. Thank you. Leanne
  13. There does seem to be a few bells going off, pups not interested even with the breeder, mother ignoring the breeder and breeder pushing for a deposit. I would be going to look at other breeders, even if I had liked the pups/breeder I would still look at others just to make sure. Also not sure if you have advised her to make sure that the parents have had all the required health tests needed for the breed. Also remember that Mum may not look the best, the pups take a lot out of them and they can look skinny and hairless by the time the pups are ready to leave but they should look bright, happy and healthy. I have had puppies that have been tired when having potential buyers visit but they would still come and curl up in a lap or two. Leanne
  14. My first attempt to take a few pics of the lightening tonight but it was to cloudy to get any good bolt shots. Pics where taken at 11pm tonight Looking out across my neighbours house it went from this to this to this, talk about turning night into day and another with the heavy rain Leanne
  15. With Frenchies I would say most people want Fawns, the most common colour is Brindle. With Staffords I found it was Reds or Red with White markings. Leanne
  16. My rising star for 2012, Saxon Leanne
  17. What about a Saluki, they are a very regal looking dog and not that common and what I have read, seen of them they tick your boxes. Leanne
  18. In SA you only need a stat dec signed by a JP stating that you have tried everything to control the barking, cost is $200-$300. Leanne
  19. In SA if you have taken a deposit or full payment legally the pup is theirs, not sure what it is in other states. Leanne
  20. This is what my girl did on her last season. It was her second season, her first season was text book. She is due in again in either Dec or Jan (last season started in June and then again in July). I am hoping to mate her this season. Leanne
  21. Regardless of what breed of pups I have they all get 24 hour care for at least the first week. My pups are born and spend the first 3 weeks in my bedroom next to my bed where I can keep a constant eye on them. Some breeds are a lot easier to whelp and breeders feel confident to leave them to whelp and raise pups by themselves. Some breeders also believe that if a bitch can't do it by themselves they should not be bred. I personally could never do that regardless of the breed. I put far to much time, energy and money into planning a litter to not worry about my bitch and her pups. I breed French Bulldogs for the love of the breed and yes it would be lovely to have a large litter and come out on top but so far this has not been the case. I don't breed for the money, I breed because I could not live without these mischievious little guys in my life. I do all possible health checks on my dogs because I wont this breed to be as healthy as possible and around for as long as possible. It is up to the people purchasing a French Bulldog to make the right choices in choosing a breeder. Yes they are expensive but there is also quite a few other breeds that are also. How could you not love this face.... Leanne
  22. As an owner and breeder of Frenchies I believe the price of $3000 is justafiable. Some breeders are charging more and some are charging less. There is a lot of costs involved in having a litter as there is with any breed. I am planning on mating my girl on her next season and I am looking around $3000 just for health tests, stud service and AI, then there is 99% of the time a c-section on top of that $1500. In the past I have had 2 litters first with 3 pups, second with 1 pup. I am yet to make a profit. Well said, you can never just have 1 Frenchy, they are very addictive The breed has become a lot more popular over the past few years and I would recomend that anyone looking to add a Frenchy to their life do there homework. If pet buyers only buy from health tested parents it will either stop a lot of the undesirables from breeding or make them health test which can only be an improvement for the breed. All parents should have their spine/hips xrayed, DNA tested for HC and have have hearts and patella's checked/scored. Leanne
  23. I just show my OH a pic of the new pup/dog I am getting, he never complains as they are my dogs and I do all the work and he gets all the cuddles. OH has so many boys toys that he could never dare complain :D Leanne
  24. As a breeder I would much rather answer those questions over the phone. Try ringing the breeder again, stike up a conversation and throw a few of the main questions in and go from there. By email it does seem very clinical and also there is always the thought that you may be a shonky and pass the answer on to someone (there are a lot out there that would do that sort of thing, sad but true ). Leanne
