  1. Which ones have the birds?? The one I know only have fish too. Agree about the collars and leads etc. I don't know of any other pet store that actually sells some decent leads and collars and if you know of one..please let me know.
  2. Poochmad, didn't actually check the rules but would be happy to remove it if advised to by Troy. But I would hope that in this instance, we don't protect the criminals. Pointees, yes I did notice that too...I'm always at Watergardens so was so happy to see the store close. Pet Goods Direct is also a subsidiary store to PP and I hear that their Sydenham store is not travelling too well these days, especially with Petstock Taylors Lakes opening which is a good thing
  3. Yes have already been in contact with TT...have left a message with them. Need people to call and place complaints with the centre management about this in the hope that it will help shut them down.
  4. Hi everyone I think it's time to name and shame this pet store. Pets Paradise in Maribyrnong...these photos were taken last night of one of the puppy enclosures. As you can see the puppies were sleeping in their own faeces whilst the staff stood around chatting and laughing amongst themselves. Also you will see the cracked glass in one of the enclosures...which one would hope they would know about. A few of us have already called the Highpoint Shopping centre's Management who state that they have had a number of complaints about this store. The council ranger has been notified and has stated that they have been informed of this store's past history. Enough complaints means we can shut this hell hole down as they are on their last legs apparently. Absolutely disgusting!
  5. what does 'attracting all of your sensory functions' mean? Firstly, I refer to 'energy as being a state of presence and not a paranormal sprit or something freaky like that. When someone walks into the room, which of your senses is the first to notice that someone new has just entered??...could be your sight, sound or even smell. You will immediately know if he/she is a person of importance or not by observing (with one or more of your sensory functions) his/her energy. The person's energy has attracted your sensory functions. Hope that makes sense!!
  6. Isn't "energy" just that??!! I don't think I've ever heard Cesar refer to energy as anything to do with paranormal phenemenon. Energy is a projection of one's state of being...which includes the strength of your presence, your stance (which is body posturing and language) and your inner feelings....and for dogs you would include smell. Energy works by attracting all of your sensory functions.
  7. Can you think of a simpler, more plausible explanation? If so, then that is probably the best explanation. I think they do. There have been more than a few occasions where i have gone to a client's house to do a consult and the dogs stay right away from me for the entire consult. On each occasion, the owners state that their dogs have never done that before with any of their visitors.....and I have not done anything, other than enter the house. Could the dogs possibly be feeling my 'no nonsense' approach.... my stance, the way I hold myself and portray my energy?? Not to mention sheep herding too......sheep will usually let you know if your dog has any presence/energy or not?
  8. This is not true. Both varieties are still coming out of the same manufacturer. The only thing that's changed is the branding which is one of the reasons why there is a hold up in supply. Also, the powers that be in the USA have finally realised that Australia is a good market for EP and Holistic and will therefore continue to supply to us.....which was very nearly not the case for a while. I am told by the EP rep that stocks of EP and Holistic should be back on board by end of October but it will not be as per normal as they are expecting any replenished stock to disappear pretty much immediately since many will buy it in bulk resulting in depleting stocks yet again. It's frustrating for many unfortunately
  9. I believe you can use whatever technique or tool you fancy with dog aggressive dogs, but you can never rush the natural process of desensitisation which occurs slowly and over time with regular exposure to other dogs. Everything else, whether it be clicker, prong or whatever are just tools and techniques to help us handlers handle our dogs whilst the process of desensitisation is taking place naturally and on it's own time.
  10. Hi Cazablanca I am in the Diggers Rest area and therefore service the Sunbury and surrounds. Let me know if I can help.
  11. Just because you use a correction chain, doesn't mean you don't use rewards and positive reinforcement when training. The ignorance continues Steve Austin is the person responsible for training many service and detector dogs both overseas an here in Oz. His services and knowledge is regularly sought after in overseas countries like Japan and Dubai. He is the "mad scientist" of the dog world and knows/understands dogs inside and out. Steve also trained: The bulldog in the nappy ad on TV Toby the Wonderdog for Katrina Warren The hungry dog (his own dog) in the Sargent's Pies ad....just to name a few His is a no-nonsense person who will use whatever method is appropriate to get the job done.
  12. My old boy was 16 years old when he passed in January this year....a GSD. There were times during this life where I could not afford top quality food and for a while was fed Pal (dry food only) as well as left-overs etc. But I always made sure to keep him lean and active. He would run with me everyday and then we downgraded to long walks as he got older. I think he was blessed with great genes...never sick and never an issue with his health. My corgi x is 12 years old and apart from some arthritis, is as fit as a fiddle and has only ever seen the vet for her yearly vaccinations.
  13. Look for: Happy healthy puppies Happy healthy parents Breeders who are willing to let you spend time with the litter Don't necessarily choose a puppy based on looks, sex or because it ran up to you first Choose the one that follows you calmly when you walk away and the one that doesn't struggle too much when you pick it up....the "middle" energy puppy (not fool-proof but is a good guideline) Go and see a number of different breeders if possible...always get proof of vaccinations and other vet reports etc. It's almost like a gamble but if you do plenty of research first, you should be right. Good luck with your search!!!
  14. goldchow, same here. One minute my GSD is fine, albeit in pain due to arthritis and after 3 or 4 days on rimadyl, appetite stops..he starts to wobble and stumble whilst walking, very disoriented most of the time which I was putting down to old age and then finally the seizures and death. Vet tells me he had something sort of brain disease which went undetected...my left foot!! I am now pretty much convinced it was the rimadyl which took his life. I am very angry and extremely upset.
  15. I am feeling really sick to my stomach reading this thread. My GSD boy, albeit 16 years of age, died in January after a bout of seizures. The week prior to him having the seizures he was prescribed Rimadyl by the vet for severe arthritis. Apart from arthritis pain and some dementia, he was generally well until the seizures. Could it have been the rimadyl that caused the seizures that took his life? Bloods were taken in September last year and all functions were normal. OMG.....did I kill my dog I am so very sorry to hear of your loss Vernie...absolutely tragic!!!
  16. I know now....... My letter to Cesar:.... "Hello Mr Cesar, I have a very very bad doggy that needs some discipline. But not just any discipline...the type that only strong, dark and handsome men like you can give. Do you think you can find some time in your really busy life to come over to lil' ole' Australia to see lil' ole' me and my naughty naughty poochy??"
  17. Do as the Romans do then.....we run classes in Keilor Downs and Parkville

  20. How very interesting Jigsaw, thanks for putting this up. Is there a link where I can look into this further??
  21. I cut-pasted the same letter so all the MP's on your list Erny and then I wrote another one and cut-pasted that one as well.
  22. I have just sent a fresh letter to all the MPs again. But unlike you Erny, I have not received any aknowledgement email back from my first one.
  23. Erny, I sent my letter to each of the email contacts on your list I don't know about everyone else, but I reckon you should be commended and awarded for all your efforts not just for this campaign but also for all your efforts with the PPCollar work as well. You're an angel Erny and a huge medal goes out to you!!!
  24. Goodness I cannot believe what I am reading....My heart and healing thoughts to everyone involved in this tragic situation. Thinking of you during this time. I will definitely put in a donation to help out. Very, very sad
