  1. Desex her now. She doesn't need to have a season.
  2. They only have 4 canines. eta: the other teeth are called incisors, molars and premolars. edit again: i'm wondering whether the nurse was referring to molars as being 'double root canines' (rear teeth) and the front 'single root' canines are actually the incisors. Sounds as though she refers to ALL dog teeth as canines
  3. Really showing your maturity now <---- and that's intended to be a 'slow' clap.
  4. My issue is the 'supposed' research into getting this particular crossbreed, when only a very short time ago the OP was emailing Labrador breeders. Not once, in any thread the OP started about wanting to get a new dog, were these crossbreeds mentioned. Sounds like an impulse buy to me!! edit to say: research? yeah right!
  5. Thats great news about her knee. :p to Dr. Zammit, he's the GSD man!! I'm with R&A, a GSD is a medium sized breed.
  6. Anyone got a picture of an adult doggy innie vulva?
  7. PennHip measures joint laxity (they have a website that has the exact details about the type of xray), a lot of people swear by it. Yes, things can change in 6 months, but atleast the PennHip prelim will give you an idea. If there is an abnormality of the femoral head, I dont' believe that will change. HD is polygenetic, controlled by several factors meaning parents with 0's can still produce pups with HD. My girl Tia, her score is 5:6 (11), a male I used in 2005 had a score of 2:2 (4).. Only 2 pups from that litter have been xrayed, one was good with a score of 2:2, and the other one She doesn't show any clinical signs though, you'd think her hips were perfect by looking at her move!
  8. Free puppy play, no rough play. I wouldn't wrap her up in cotton wool, she still needs exercise. I personally feel that a dog will have good or bad hips regardless. If environmental impacts greatly on a result, I think that the dog had to be genetically predisposed to the condition anyway. This is only my opinion of course. My boy was an extremely overactive pup, bowled over a million times, jolted his hips with his quick stops to catch a ball, tumbled over kicked by a horse. His x-rays; perfect! 0's all round. ! If you are really worried about hips and want an indication to put your mind at ease (before she reaches 12months), look into PennHip. eta: and yes, as Magnum as said above, speak to her breeder.
  9. That's Schatzi JD HT ET, my girl Tia's full sister!! Thanks for all the info guys. This school just looked interesting.
  10. sorry, the teacher does not feel confident about teaching shepherds because they work differently and he wants to keep the school to traditional herding dogs he is familiar with. That's a shame my breed is excluded as the German Shepherd was bred as a Sheep herding dog. My girls sister got her HI last year, would of been nice to get involved too.
  11. RIP Sonar, a handsome man lost so suddenly. I'm sincerely sorry for your loss.
  12. Oh CM, that gave me a huge lump in my throat.. He was such a handsome boy, what a spark he had in his eye!! You were lucky to have eachother.
  13. Well if they are a pet shop chain selling puppies and kittens, I wouldn't have one good word to say about them!!!
  14. I think we need to get a new Sydney one going!! Hmm, what could we do? ;) eta: does anyone like Cafebones? I love that place and atleast they have food and drinks available.
  15. Sorry for your loss. What a handsome old man he was..
  16. Oh no, how tragic.. Varicool, I'm so sorry that you have lost Ally.. that's horrible.. ;)

  18. I'm sorry to hear about Zana, she was beautiful, that face, reminds me of the old girl we had..
  19. I was wondering if someone could please tastefully clean an image up for me. I just want a nicer background, perhaps even blurred, and it cropped into just a headshot. No text. It has to be perfect. I can email it high res. Thanks guys, hope someone can help..
