  1. ESP Boronia! Earlier this afternoon I wheeled out the Macmobile and put it in the kitchen so he could be part of the action while I cooked!! And he'll go to the park in it tomorrow. He's back in it after having dinner and looks like king of the castle! Kind of the castle in his Macmobile, supervising your cooking. Love it!
  2. I'm so sorry to hear it's nearly time WM. The letting go is the hardest, but kindest act an owner can do. Give the Macster a cuddle from me, he sure does have a bit of a fan base here on DOL.
  3. A truly gorgeous golden boy, rest easy fella. Big hugs to you Sars.
  4. All the prayers and good thoughts being sent to you and Mac.
  5. Great to hear she is home, and feeling better, did they find out what was wrong with her GB?
  6. A huge relief that it wasn't a tumour as they first thought. You'll be glad to get her home and give her cuddles no doubt, what a wonderful vet for not charging for the extra stay too.
  7. How frightening for everyone, I really hope your dog (and wife) will be okay, theres' been some great advice given already, just wanted to wish you all well in your recovery. And I hope you reported the attack to the council/relevant authorities, the owner is at fault here, I'm not sure of the local laws there (regarding rushing/attacking dogs) but hopefully he will be held responsible and made to secure the dogs properly so it doesn't happen again.
  8. Exciting! What a gorgeous boy he is too, and such big feet.
  9. I'd be looking at a recommended and registered breeder who has done health checks on both parents. Buying a healthy pup from a good breeder who will ask you lots of questions and shows you health checks for parents is the way to go. Have a good read about a buying an Amstaff, one of which I've just copied below: READ THIS Don't ever be fooled by someone who's trying to tell you that one colour is rarer than another, and one colour is more expensive to buy than another. The Blue Amstaff is as common as any other colour, and please remember a colour is only cosmetic whether it be BLUE , Black, Red ,White, Fawn, Seal or any other colour, it has NO bearing on the dogs Temperament, Health or Conformation which are so much more important. A reputable breeder does NOT breed for colour. When looking at websites, this should give you some indication as to whether the "breeder" is all about breeding for the betterment of the breed or just to make a quick buck & breeding for colour alone ! I'd expect to pay anywhere from $1200 - 2000 for a decent, healthy pup..
  10. Lovely to hear this update WM, Mac is his usual handsome self I see, and being lavished with love, blue cheese and fish oils must be the secret. :D
  11. Poor cat, hope he makes a full recovery. How is the dog getting into your yard though? Are yours low fences or a no fence situation? I'd think it would be a bit hard to say their dog attacked the cat unless you personally saw it though. I'd be keeping Cookie inside and/or make a secure cat run if he likes to be outside as well. Keeps them safe. :) I'd report the dog to the council anyway for coming into your yard numerous times, it should be contained to their property, and they've had plenty of chances, and being a greyhound the owners should be more proactive to make sure it doesn't get out of the yard. Sending healing vibes to Cookie ETA: I see now, i was typing this reply and you'd already posted again. So the cat was in the front yard I'm guessing, yep....hard to prove it was their dog, but good on your for calling the ranger. Call every time it's out and take photos too. The owners need to step up and take responsibility for their dog.
  12. Run free at the bridge Dulcie Hugs to you, it's so hard letting them go, but her memory is what will get you through.
  13. Great update WM, love the pic of him looking out the doggy door. I'm glad he's feeling more comfy with his new haircut, it's gotten so hot for this time of the year already!
  14. Each day is a bonus, lots of love to you and Mac.
  15. Sorry, my Mathis is shocking, that should be there has only been one recorded death from a Red Belly Black, in the 1800,s, so a bit longer than 70 years. :D
  16. Swazzie, it helps to know and be able to recognize which snakes are in your area, and which ones are highly venomous (Elapids) or mildly venemous (Colubrids) Red Belly Blacks for example are generally placid, non threatening and no one has died from a bite for over 70 years. Where as a Brown snake is very reactive, very defensive and is highly venemous. A really good website is this one: has good pics for identification, what areas they inhabit etc etc I've linked ELAPIDS, but also good to have a look at the Colubrids. http://www.whatsnakeisthat.com.au/elapids.html
  17. Yes, the snake was only defending itself, that's a natural reaction to bite when being attacked.
  18. So sorry to hear that Rozzie, Napoleon looked like a lovely old boy, run free at the bridge fella.
  19. Best to ask over in the GSD breed thread then, HERE
  20. Hi and welcome to the forum. Most defiitely buy one from a registered and reputable breeder. Are you wanting a puppy or an adult? Dogzonline has lists of breeders, the link is HERE for puppies and HERE for adults Those ones I linked are for NSW, but there is also other states as well. If you wanted a long haired breed, then look Here for puppies You can also ask for recommendations over on the German Shepherd Breed discussion forum page HERE
  21. Aww, go Zac, I'm sure your new family will love you to bits and you them. :D
  22. Enjoy watching the footy tonight snuggled up with Mac, I take it he's a Crows supporter?
