  1. If you operate through a foster group you are supported if any issues come up while you are caring or if the dog isn't working out at your house for some reason(eg. dog that was thought to be fine with cats is intent on eating yours for example or even if you end up unable to care at short notice due to going to hospital or some other reason). They can also provide assistance with behaviour and training issues and may assist with vet care too depending on the group. They also help with advertising the dog and directing potential owners in your direction.
  2. Much of the reason people take their dogs to weekly training and train them themselves is that training is also about developing the relationship between you and your dog and training sessions are learning for YOU as much as they are for him.
  3. He always said it was a disinfectant and to toughen the skin on his face. What can I say, we breed em tough and rough in my family.
  4. Haha RB my dad still rubs metho on his face after shaving... He's a cyclist and does shave his legs as well but I'm not willing to consider the thought that he might rub metho anywhere else. Pawpaw cream might be good too. :)
  5. Don't worry Piper we used to have people come in to work all the time and buy Rapigel for themselves, one of the local doctors was a great proponent of it!
  6. It's OK Gruflife, my dogs eat out of stainless steel mixing bowls, it's pretty common for them to actually be used as mixing bowls in this house...
  7. I've sprayed bird mite spray on a my head when suffering paranoia due to one if my kids having headlice. It was the same ingredients as te headlice stuff anyway...
  8. Maybe Clyde. Was a bit hard to tell from the grainy photo on my phone. Must admit I did just assume either way he sounds like a lovely boy. :)

  10. We are that far in a southerly direction and have been looking at forming a group of people interested in a particular type of training and then approaching trainers to find someone willing to do visiting workshops. If you can find someone up your way who's willing to help with a suitable round yard set up and enough sheep to rotate through the yard so they can get a break you might be able to organise a weekend workshop.
  11. As you mention clear slimy stuff I'm wondering if he's getting extra saliva and it's going down the wrong way, has he been dribbling more than usual lately? Sounds weird but if he'll accept it maybe you could make his water a little thicker for the moment using gelatine in order to manage the symptoms while you get to the bottom of the problem. (Same theory as 'thickened water' that is given to human patients with swallowing issues)
  12. Haha, that's so mean (I love it :D ) My brother once ate the little dog food hamburger patties that my mum used to cook up for her dog. She used to keep them in a tub in the freezer and he grabbed a couple out, microwaved them and ate them. Later that day he asked mum why the hamburgers she made were chewy. Um, because they were made with the cheap pet mince with all the chopped gristle and bone it.
  13. Unfortunately all purebred means is that someone took a staffordshire bull terrier and bred it with another staffordshire bull terrier. In order to show your dog needs to be have a pedigree(on main register) which tracks the family tree of your dog through your breeder's registration with your the canine council. Unfortunately you won't be able to show your girl. If down the track you do decide that you want another dog and you would like to get involved in showing feel free to ask in the forums for breeder recommendations, there are lots of lovely knowledgeable people on here who would be more than happy to point you in the right direction to help you find a dog to show!
  14. He's pretty hard not to love so I'm sure something perfect will come along soon. It's a shame it's so hard to keep small animals and greys, I adored the grey we had for a while and if we didn't have so many small critters I could see a gorgeous grey like Deefa on the end of my bed.
  15. Not sure either but I think it's fine if they are in a pound just not private rehoming and that sort of stuff

  17. This was the statement made by a member: I guess by including them from this week it should ensure that any ads that will still be up when then new regulation comes in with have it included
  18. I saw something on the dog show gossip facebook page that said they would be automatically included from a certain date, I'm guessing as an inbuilt piece of info in the add
  19. Apart from that if you don't register the pup by the cut off age and later on you were to look at that pup and see it had turned out to be a fabulous looking dog that you would have liked to use in your lines you can't because the option to upgrade to mains is no longer there like it would be if the pup had simply been on limited. Or if the new owner decides 3 years down the track that they would like to try their hand at showing it's not an option available to them.
  20. I'm with Staffyluv on this one. Having bodgy stuff on his facebook page doesn't automatically make him a bad breeder, could be the nicest bloke in the world. I know some lovely people that would probably be judged pretty harshly if we just went on their facebook pages.
  21. Yes but a pup born from a litter that goes above the limits set by the governing body and therefore can't be registered is no use in future breeding programs anyway.
  22. Oh red fox perfect! Even more so because I'm training for the SES and they are bright orange so they'll be a good long term lead as well :D
  23. Thanks Jess. Not sure if 11m will be enough but it's a good back up. I did just come across a 15 metre one that's only 16mm wide on the UK version of Amazon so I'm trying to see if I can find it in Aus
