  1. I use a cheap Nappy rash creme from the Chemist that contains Zinc. Tony
  2. Moon,Steve is the right man for the job. Tony
  3. Poodle, would you run up to somebody if they gave you a clip under the ear everytime?Of course not as you would soon figure its not safe to be around that person. You would build a negative link to the person.A dog is the same.See it from the Dogs point of view."This Person is calling me, but if I go to them I am unsure what will happen!!!" You need to stop punishing the Dog for not coming firstly. You need to build pack bond with the Dog and also build an attraction within the Dog to you. This Dog has a certain amount of resistance built up due to experience that you will have to dissipate or overcome.I would go back to a small area put the Dog on a long lead. Now what motivates this Dog?Food or a Ball or Toy?I would call the Dog and if she does not respond give a correction on the lead. Its best with the correction if possible to dissasociate yourself from it.When she does come to you, make a fuss of her and reward her by allowing her to interact with whatever motivates her.Example if food give a Treat,if a ball throw it for her. Also work on letting her catch you.Have a game with her where you jump up and down, zig zag around, make funny noises and run away from her.Attract her to you and make her want to catch you. When she is coming to you, do not lunge or grab at her when close as that is counter productive. Ironically the more freedom you give this Dog the better she will come back. How does that work? What I mean is practise getting her to come to you, reward her then release her again then a short while later call her again, reward her and release again. The dog learns by doing this that just because she comes to you,it does not mean all her fun is over. tony
  4. I have to agree with Mystiq here.Last thing I want is a Dog grovelling on its back. Tony
  5. Zeus,i would be getting somebody local to review the amount your feeding this Pup as it does not sound right to me.Why feed him whole Carrots by themselves? Tony
  6. Kaos,Steve is a top Man with a Dog.I do not understand the reluctance to start again. If your having problems now,the only way to rectify the problems is to change what your doing. Tony
  7. Pandora,I would not say she has been trained at this stage and age. If she gets a bit rough in your eyes, redirect her with a Toy or Ball.Throw a ball for her to give her an outlet for drive. Next time your at your Father"s place take note of his aaproach with this Pup.Then compare how you handle the Pup.Note the differences between the two approaches.I would do some reading on pack dynamics, leadership and so on.Points to start at would be Authors such as Cesar Milan and Jan Fennel. Tony
  8. Frank,I would do a check of your management and leadership of this Dog.Frank both times when your Son was bitten, motion was involved.Children unknowingly when racing around and playing can trigger off a Dog"s prey drive. You need to be able to channel the Dogs prey drive and or redirect it with a Ball or Toy. This Dog may well see himself as having a higher rank than your Son in the pack also.Maybe spend a little time helping your Son to understand how he set himself a higher rank than the Dog. Frank this is not really a major issue and I would not as some said rehome him.The Dog is just being a Dog. Tony
  9. Choc, can you recall at the time what was going on around you and the body language of the Dog? Tony
  10. None of my Dogs seem to have read that silly article. Tony
  11. Choc has this happened only when your out and about with the Dog or at home as well? Tony
  12. Chloe,Kelpie-I has hit the nail on the Head. The Pup certainly has got the upper hand here.Left unchecked it would go from the pup wanting food every couple of steps down to every step. Tony
  13. It would be interesting to see what the Sire and Dam of this Dog are like. Tony
  14. Alpine, the Pup is only five months so give her time.Too much pressure too soon can be detrimental. As others have also suggested, what Genetic background does she come from? Tony
  15. Exactly Erny your spot on!!!!Like some of the old Trappers used to say,you never know what may turn up in a Trap. Tony
  16. I have a problem with anybody who has mutiple identitys on a Site!!!Whether a guise or whatever way its put!!! A decent, honest upfront Person only needs one identity to say what they have to.I also have a big problem with Clowns threatening others with legal action over trivial matters!!!!Those threatening others in this manner need to try to do something they never have and that is to be a Man!!! Tony
  17. GreyGhost,Humans and Dogs both have inbulit Species specific needs.Humans to be loved and accepted.Dogs to have a place in the pack and secure Leadership.Once this basic need is being met, then one can go onto other aspects and refinements. Its much like Building a House. The House has a basic need for a good Foundation.Once the House has that strong Foundation, then one can go on and look at refinements like colour schemes, furnishings and finishings. Tony
  18. Erny, sadly fairly typical of these type of Cowards and loonies.I will bet that of course they do not even know Denis either. Tony
  19. Denis, looking forward to getting my Validation as well. Tony
  20. The best thing your Brother Inlaw could do would be to actually learn something about Dogs. The more I see the more stunned I am about how little People who have Dogs actually know about them!!!I am stunned to that for such minor things as this that anybody would even suggest the Dog be PTS!!!!Anybody calling for the Dog to be PTS has very very little awareness!!!! The Dog was resource guarding or looking after its Bone. This Dog is a product of its enviroment. The key here is for the Humans involved to make change.I would say it seems lack of knowledge cmbined with the chance of change being very low,the Dog is probably better off in another Home. Tony
  21. Lisa,I would do a check also of how assertive you are being with this Dog. Tony
  22. BBB,is she attacking the Door,as in chewing and tearing?Any digging? Tony
