Petition: Stop the selling of animals @ Parklea Markets
asal replied to kamuzz's topic in In The News
THE problem was the hot days, the owners took them to the markets instead of keeping them home. considering how few days were actually that hot, they sure paid a 365 days a year penalty. nothing not even fans was going to prevent the outcry , those days were horrible, I had sprinklers going on my cook shed and my dogs yard. nothing like that was available at parklea. Our produce store a few years ago began to have budgies and little parrots and canaries available for sale, bred by people who bought their seed from them. someone called the rspca who began to give him the rounds of the kitchen re cage sizes and constant cleaning, I saw them the cages were clean, all animals go to the loo. anyway he decided he didn't like how rudely he was treated so the owners of the birds were asked to take them elsewhere. another opportunity to buy direct from the breeder instead of a pet shop gone -
Pity it isnt that simple, feral animal particularly pigs are very hard to eradicate, many are caught by trapping, but hunting is also needed some are too cunning to go into the traps. feral pigs are dangerous. I suspect from this line of thinking eradicating ferals animals will also be ultimately banned on the grounds of cruelty. although any farmer faced with the damage they do and the younstock killed will be the losers. Although since so many seem to think all livestock should be phased out as increasingly the press releases are the cruelty of breeding animals that will be slaughtered is cruel. crops dont give gory shots when they are torn to bits by feral pigs so I suppose the farmes left to grow crops will just have to build some darned good fencing if they want to harvest a crop in the 3000"s

different as chalk and cheese to what is called a german shepherd now. this must have been filmed quite a while ago before the ski back arrived? http://www.burkesbackyard.com.au/fact-sheets/pets/pet-road-tests/dogs/white-shepherd/#.WMkZTqLfqUk

your logic is tantalizing and the blanket covering is the animals, all must suffer to protect the animals. those 90% are to be denied their right to innocence and treated as potentially or are. guilty as well, to clean out the 10% of scumbags? if you truly believe that logic then all parents should have their children taken from them to ensure no child is at risk of the 10% of parents who abuse and kill their children. As I recall the last time that was in operation its now called the era of the stolen generations? because a percentage of men kill and rape, all need to be locked up and/or castrated? same logic, except human children are collateral damage, women killed or maimed just another case of collateral damage (sure know the culture the woman must have asked or it by the way she dressed or behaved, good old blame culture alive and well) but chuck in the word fur baby and EEEK! all animal owners must be micromanaged or lose their fur baby for its own safety and if you dare ask why the emperor has no clothes, you, like I will be, said to have proven your unfit to speak

Although in this case the dogs are australian born, were chipped, WERE registered yet I bet they were sold to the so called rescue and yep on sold for a tidy profit which is exactly what the rspca are into as well these days judging by the increasing number of people complaining their dogs and cats were taken and either sold or destroyed while they were fighting to get them back. all the worry about backyard breeders and the elephant in the room is the the so called welfare industry seizing, buying, getting by whatever means saleable dogs from their legal owners and cough "rehoming" at a profit The list of heartreak storyies is constantly growing on this fb website https://www.facebook.com/groups/1083536528374841/?multi_permalinks=1348473458547812¬if_t=group_highlights¬if_id=1489291691133802 -
AND note, he wasnt microchipped. that I believe applies to the majority of dogs in this country. stupid stupid pollies, busy passing laws to stop puppy farms, to micromange the idiots who do the right thing and register their dogs and do follow the ever increasing rules being used to smother those who try to keep their breed going. the dogs filling the pounds are the ones comming from the invisibles and it will be the invisibles that keep dogs and dog breeds going. the KCC's will implode, there are less and less members and less and less main registered puppies every year.
-
no body today would admit their dog is a pitty. looking at the photos of the dog, if that is Buddy, he is identical to the puppies I was asked to chip whose proud owner said they were pure red nosed pitties. but that was before bsl. I dont know about any one here, has anyone ever seen a staffie that that colour? english staffy I mean. americn staffy and pit bull are one in the same in america, many are double registered, funny how a trip overseas to the land of oz they become seperate breeds even x 's from my days of breeding I only see that colouring when the dog has the gold gene and two chocolate genes, anyone seen a different gentic combination to get the same look? either way, in such an awful situation that occured that day, I dont know what the reaction of any dog would have been regardless of breed

I have no idea if it is too late and the dog has already been killed but this is on FB and I am a little suprised no one is talking about it here? a woman attemped to kill her two sons, one is dead the dog saved the other childs life and is facing death or have i missed the story here? anway here is the link it it is not too late to protest the dogs destruction https://www.gopetition.com/petitions/help-save-buddy.html?sh=v%2FV3Fm36pW6jlhzNG4jPGcA7u65RcEHvSZmMq0GwMkS6mN0b8Cao

SOUNDS like a scam, sell interstate, so cant be traced, wonder how much the pound was paid by the 'rescue' ? although why then call the legal owner just to crow that they will never get them back? weirder and weirder -
yes pity the canine council's didn't take a leaf out of their books decades ago and out market them. barring a miracle the horse has bolted and the stable door fallen off

nothing seems to have changed for the better in 20 years, you would think the debacle of the train guages might have taught the different states something over the passage of 100 years but seems not? -

trouble is any loonie can become a rescue and because you have "rescue" slapped somewhere/anywhere, you are supposed to be automatically a better person than a disgusting breeder/puppy farmer and anyone that loses a dog had to be a bad person or they would not have lost it. brainwashed public, done and dusted. that poor family and kids -

This was taken the next year , waiting for the presentation, he is 27 there, amazing horse but thats how the old dept of agriculture horses were. they were selected and bred to improve the station horses, the only difference between him and a heritage ASH is breeding unknown. He is heavily linebred to Kars who spent his lifetime in the hunter vally along with two bay arabian mares. Kars was a warhorse who survived the Battle of Kars in Armenia and later exported to australia after a short time in England. Opps the Battle of Kars was 1745, the Campaign of Kars was much later. 1877, he was imported to australia in 1885 mine is descended from a Kars daughter imported later whose pedigree wasnt lost like the three above. Anyway the real tragedy for both is a very small number of people will stop at nothing to win, be it greyhounds or horses -

I do understand your frustration. I have a family of horses that are amazingly good at what they do and have taken many australian riders to win their Quilty buckle first time they entered, some first place and national point and distance awards in endurance. Trouble is endurance rides here are a family sport. BUT the overseas market offers such big prices just about everyone accepts the offers no matter how they tell me they will keep their horse for life when they buy it, and what is happening in Dubai is simply sickening and yes its prizemoney and kudos/ego, is the sole motivation for the slaughter that is happening there. so the only way to protect them is not breed them or find pony club homes and hope they never take one to an endurance ride. fortunately they make great kids ponies and are just as good at sporting and dressage, their dad/granddad even won not just sporting events but dressage too. as for campdraft,\ n stockwork, they can cut as good as any qh. LOL amend that, he won second highest cutout *the winner was heritage ASH) against 115 including king ranch qh, n outpointed them. you just don't mention its an ayrab yr riding. http://in-the-focus.com/en/2017/02/distanzsport-im-mittleren-osten/ He was 26 when this was taken, won an ironwoman race by half a mile. no kidding. there were 14 in the field and he won it the next year by 1/4 of a mile and there was prizemoney, $250. It was harious, the announcer said as he entered the track for the lap to the finish line, my boy, first, silence for a while waiting for the rest of the field then said, "the rest? now where." -
I am accused of being far more able to forgive others, than I can myself. We really need to realise public shaming of someone who we do not know, or what mental problems they may have can end terribly, as a friend Hannah, pointed out today. " i'm gonna cut this short, but mental health led to over 3.5k suicides in Australia last year. in 2015, 1.2k people died in road crashes. think about that for a sec. that's a big number. — almost triple! you probably know someone contemplating suicide and though they're not your responsibility, showing a bit of love goes a loooong way, trust me Xx " Stop and think, what could have been going on in this guys head to do what he did? We dont know, we never will, does anyone really think pushing him over the edge will bring back Egg from what was now known to be an accident? Charge him by all means, but hope he gets help too, he obviously needs to learn how to deal with stress

LOL so on your guilty by association belief think its time to shut down the catholic church too. when even the Pope is complicit in protecting the guilty, aka made Pell a cardinal considering for decades he protected the perps and was moved to rome so he cant be recalled back to Australia to testify, that's called perverting the course of justice , always liked Geoffrey Robertson, even more now. the figures of 4445 may not seem like many but in the light of 70% kill themselves so they are missing from that total. http://www.theherald.com.au/story/4477315/calls-for-vatican-diplomatic-recognition-to-end/ -
Having had a puppy choke and unable to save it, even though it was over 20 years ago it is utterly devastating. she just put her face in the puppy porridge and tried to suck it up in one go, how much went into her lungs no idea but nothing worked to clear her airways and gone even before we could get to the car. the guy was an idiot to do what he did to try to hide what happened from his partner but I can understand how awful he felt and probably still thinks the death is his fault. truth is, accidents happen and puppies like children have no idea of danger. even the widely recommended chicken necks can kill a puppy, only a few years ago misty, still living thank goodness, tried to swallow three at one go without chewing them and choked, once your puppy is big enough to swallow them whole without chewing them is time to stop providing them I almost learned the hard way. trying to pull such slippery things out is almost impossible but we were lucky, got hold of one and she vomited the other two back. learned the much safer chew option is lamb or beef necks, way to big for anything but hours of chewing and teeth cleaning fun

in your enthusiasm to punish those who do. you seem to be conveniently forgetting those who don't. Last I looked the figures were the wrongdoers are very much in the minority. If the shoe was on your foot of guilty by association would you give up your dogs on the grounds you must lose yours for the greater good because a minority of others are breaking the law? -
The Guardian: Have our children been harmed by having pets?
asal replied to Boronia's topic in In The News
As a child whose parents never broached the subject of death so I had no idea until my grandmother died and the terrible impact that had on a 7 yr old. I made sure my child learned about this from an early age. Pets help very much in this respect, the love they give and the grieving process that is normal . So right Simply Grand. -

after seeing some of the media attacks on the chap who lost everything in the fire out west nice to see some of his dogs did survive and were helped. " RSPCA Vs NGRU CEASE FIRE Well just for this post anyway... after all the RSPCA publicly attacked our group not so long ago. But we would like to think we're the level headed and more mature group that actually wants the best for our dogs. We wanted to highlight something regarding the Warren Jarvis tragedy that has gone untold. It's already known that the RSPCA and GRNSW attended Mr Jarvis's property soon after the devastating fire that killed most of his animals, including dozens of greyhounds, some of which were pets. After the surviving dogs were looked over by the RSPCA, they found some needed treatment for their burns. Long story short, they jumped back in their car and drove to the nearest vet to collect the required treatment. They then drove back to Warren's and showed him how to use it to get the best results. They provided it for free. This is the old RSPCA that we all want back! We want you guys to spend more time helping animals, rather than wasting money like groups such as Animals Australia do on lobbying the government to ban all animal sports and industries! Plus we would like to see you rehome more dogs and cats, you have the money and the resources to improve it, the public expect better. Animal rights has no place anywhere in this world, but animal welfare should be something everyone works together to achieve the best outcome for all animals. So please do more of what you did for Warren and his much loved hounds, and less of the anti-racing propaganda rubbish. " #AnimalWelfareNotAnimalRights " no I have never owned a greyhound or involved with the industry, although I do have more than a passing knowledge of DV and its impact -

This government has plenty of balls when it comes to shutting the door to pensioners, anyone unfortunate to have to deal with centrelink, some one killed themselves last week because he couldn't cope with all the demand letters for return of payments yet they had been advised he had mental health issues and did not owe anything. As I said earlier cut the funding to shelters and domestic violence resources. Plenty of balls when it suits them whatever happened to innocent until PROVEN guilty, thousands should not be penalised for the few who do break the law. surely a domestic violence victim should have the same protection as a rabbit or any other species used for live baiting? at the moment that does not seen to be the case. although I suppose it would be a long bow to shut down marriage or defacto relationships to stop it happening? Thats what you are calling for as regards the greyhound owners, although it seems many value a dogs right to life and happiness, over and above someones spouse in the same danger.. -

very disheartening, but it shows whats next for the pet dogs, if cant guarantee no breeder neglects a dog then that too will be shut down, this is what is coming, one offender, all are guilty by association. When or if will it dawn on pet owners and breeders AR have brainwashed the public. A woman has died almost every week of this year due to domestic violence and they (by they, I mean our wonderful Prime Minister who has made no cuts to his or his ministers spending though) are shutting down funding and shelters so more will die. Yet all owners and breeders of greyhounds are guilty by association and pet owners and breeders are guilty by association when someone breaks the law, and just the same for pet breeds when the banner of puppy farm eradication is waved. who else sees hypocrisy in this scenario? -
Petition: Stop the selling of animals @ Parklea Markets

spotted this on fb, the AR are what is behind all these laws that are powering though everyone's rights and if people don't start saying no to for example that bunch of laws that at the moment has been stopped in Victoria making it illegal to have even one fertile dog, male or female without applying for an ABN and registering as a business,( if that gets though end of having a dog in just about every council area) not allowed to own more than 10. even more disgusting, you only are offered two options for your retired dog, euthanasia or re-home, whatever happened to your right to keep your dog in retirement? They will not stop trying to get it though unless those who want pets say no them. Read the photo, We already are struggling with the generation of kids who have never been taught the word NO. now they want our dogs and horses to be the same? HOW OUT OF TOUCH ARE ANIMAL RIGHTS GROUPS? Last week we featured Melbourne Against Horse-Drawn Carriages, a campaign run by the Animal Justice Party that considers even riding a horse "cruel" and a "form of domination". Their major protest of the year on Valentine Day's featured protestors photographed wearing metal bits, which they also consider to be cruel. Once the horse community become aware of this group, their claims and the ridiculous protest photos the post went viral and got flooded with thousands of comments from all around the world from people who love for, care for, and yes, RIDE their horses. The protest rapidly, and quite rightly, turned into a world wide laughing stock. MAHC's solution was just to delete the post featuring their main protest of the year, block everyone that disagreed with them (and pretend they were abusive), and ignore how out of touch they were. Yet they continue. Today MAHC have posted asking for stories about "breaking free" from the "manipulation, coercion" and "relentless power struggle" with animals. It is important to remember that this campaign is run by the Animal Justice Party and they are trying to convince animal lovers to vote for them. Let the AJP know you are an animal lover - and they DO NOT represent you. The Coalition for the Protection of Racehorses claim to not be against other horse activities. Yet all of their public spokespeople ran for election for the AJP - a political party that runs campaigns against even riding a horse. Animal rights campaigners often target popular and high profile causes via social media as a stepping stone to further their other agendas. We think it is time to show these animal rights groups how out of touch they are with the people who genuine love and care for their animals. -
If horse conformation followed GSD conformation
asal replied to sandgrubber's topic in General Dog Discussion
fascinating, rings true, applies equally to the show scene regardless of species " Developmental changes in pedigree dogs is not a natural event. They are created by a ''very small number of very influential people" called 'breed authorities' selecting, promoting, line and in - breeding on dogs, very often their own dogs or dogs they bred that possess what are for them desirable features. 'Very often' in their selection of dogs for a specific desirable feature [trait] there are linked traits, linked traits are not uncommon, some are apparent some are not. These linked traits may be less than desirable but they are considered to be acceptable 'collateral damage', in other words they are considered to be a small price one has to pay in order to establish the primary trait! The point I make is that there can often be promotion of undesirable traits because they are genetically linked to a real or perceived desirable trait! So when the question is asked ''why did ''they'' promote dog's with a curved spine, the answer is 'there is no reason, there was no reason' it just came with the package. And so the appropriate response if someone asks the question is don't try to explain it because that is an impossible task, simply say its a good thing! Because these people are very influential, dogs with their preferred features win at dog shows and those that do not lose and the genetic frequency of the traits good and bad increase until they become the norm and the breed evolves accordingly. Once a characteristic is entrenched, once it becomes the norm meaning only dogs possessing those traits win at dog shows even if it is a bad trait self interest being placed above the breeds best interests makes it ''very difficult'' to eradicate and if it is eradicated it can take a long time to do so." Here is the link it came from http://www.louisdonald.com/the-evolution-of-the-back-of-the-gsd.html
