  1. Sounds like a complete load of crap to me.
  2. My two small dogs jump up and down as they want and I have never had any issues with this. They also use my lounge suite as their walk way in the lounge room. Both little dogs sleep in my bed with me. My big dog also jumps on and off the bed when he likes but sleeps on his own sack bed.
  3. Thanks for the heads up I bought two. Good postage rate cost me more to go to Kmart than purchasing them online.
  4. A shoulder xray recently cost $300+ so that sounds about right.
  5. Interesting topic I am going away for two days coming this Thursday and will be back Saturday evening and though the dogs will be at home, safe and well looked after I am already stressing that I am leaving them for this period of time. It is called separation anxiety then I have it bad. Their routine will be just about normal but I won't be here to watch over my babies. I will be taking one with me but cannot take the other two. They have one of their favourite humans looking after them and she will take great care but I am still stressing over it to be honest. They will have to do without me but I will be bringing them home something special and I will be over joyed to see them when I get home. So lots of cuddles and kisses till Thursday and then I have to leave. I know they will "survive" but the question is will I?
  6. Yep Freecycle it will go on there and it is the best thing ever for getting rid of the stuff that is too good to chuck out.
  7. My dogs have always had access to water I don't think restricting it makes any difference. As I get up a couple of times a night for a loo break the dogs follow and they go out at the same time. So it really does not make any difference in our situation. I have always been taught to have fresh clean water down at all times.
  8. That kiss on the head shot is absolutely priceless and needs to be framed and shown off.
  9. Public housing lists in Victoria are all in in definate in other words none are coming up people are not leaving for a one bedroom unit your looking at 15 years wait and for a 4 bedroom house 20+ years. I know as I am currently going through housing applications with them now. Support housing priority is 3-4 years. As for pets your allowed to have them in Victoria as someone stated within council guidelines. The paperwork you require is unreal particularly for a priority which I am trying to get in support housing. Also that if you are looking for priority housing applications you MUST prove you cannot get private rental properties. Eg being on the TICA register etc. You must apply for rentals through estate agents, private landlords etc when denied you must have proof of this etc. Then and only then will they allow you to be put on the priority and it then has to go to the committee for their approval. I guess this would mean that if you cannot secure a place to live with your dog as you do not want to give it up they would probably not accept that. Things are really desperate public housing wise and the office would not accept a dog for being an excuse to not get a home or rental. General housing is at it's greatest demand.
  10. I love my vet I pay $18 for a C-3 About $25 for a C-4 and $30 for a C-5 I only ever vaccinate with a C-3. So around $54 for my lot pretty good price. That is with a check up as well.
  11. My dogs are dogs but they are my babies and I call them that all the time. I could not have kids so they are my family in so many ways. I hate that term furkids they are just my kids. Yes I humanise them, yes I love them to death. I would not have it any other way. Yes they get Christmas and birthday gifts. They sleep in my bed they live in my house if people don't like it lump it. They have given me so much more comfort and love over the years than any other human being on the planet. As far as I am concerned I like it this way and it works for me. So it is staying this way. Humans or dogs I know which one I would prefer to share my life with.
  12. Dr Roger Lavelle is at Werribee at the University Animal Hospital. 0397312000 250 Princes Hwy WERRIBEE VIC, 3030
  13. I have not had a "holiday" for years without it including dogs in some way or another whether my own or someone else's. My next official holiday is in early 2012 to Western Australia for a couple of weeks. No the dogs are not coming I will be getting a house sitter for that one. As for other quick weekend get aways sometimes I will get friends to drop in and see the dogs or I just take them with me I generally stay with family and friends so they are welcomed but it is not a particularly relaxing time with the dogs along.
  14. I hope he is on the mend soon. Many people will be missing him.
  15. I have two small dogs and one large dog. We live on acreage however my part of the yard is only smallish my dogs do not have free run of the acreage as we have horses on that. However they have the freedom to come and go as they want in the house and yard and tend to stay in the house, snoozing and taking it easy. I walk them rarely but they do get frequent car trips. I do not work so I am home most of the time with them. We do however play ball, games and they do their zoomies a couple of times a day. They are perfectly happy they are not destructive and it works for us. It is not the size of the yard but how you interact with them and I could not agree more. edited for spelling*
  16. Contact page on their website http://www.ecopet.com.au/index2.html?contact.html~content Checked the website out but it looks as if it is out of date??
  17. Great thread some very cute tooshies in that lot.
  18. I have used Michael for over 12 years now and would NEVER go anywhere else for vaccinations and general vet care. He is the best vet I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with.
  19. My dog was desexed at just over 16 weeks of age and in my opinion it is way too early he is a German Shepherd and I would never have allowed it if he wasn't already done at that age. He is now almost two years of age and would have been going in for the snip now but certaintly NOT at 16 if it were my choice. So far I have not had problems with him and he is far from aggressive with anything or anyone. But still not a choice I would have made.
  20. I went with Medibank private and like saxon pup have never made a claim in the near two years I have had it. I found them to be the best value when insuring three dogs and great discounts for multiple dogs. Costs me about $20 per month per dog.
  21. I do not excercise my dogs in the heat if it is too hot for me it is too hot for them. I would never risk their safety in the heat for the sake of excercise. But I would say the very cool of the morning or late evening if you have to NEVER in the middle of the day. I seen a woman walking a staffy cross the other day around 28 degrees the poor thing was pooped and just layed down when ever she stopped on the cool concrete and in the shade.
  22. I love seeing Rotties pulling carts they always look so proud doing it.
  23. Excuse me but there are two breeds the Tenterfield Terrier that is recognised with the ANKC and the Mini Foxie who has it's own stud register. I am well aware of the seperation of the two breeds. I realise that the Mini Foxie is not recognised with the ANKC just like the Koolie. The registry is Tenterfield Terriers. They were not allowed to Register the breed name as Mini Foxies because they look nothing like a Fox Terrier.
  24. You forgot one other great Australian breed the Miniature Fox Terrier or Mini Foxie.
