  1. Never done excess baggage personally but when I have sent or collected & someone brought a kitten to me as excess baggage. All send offs & pick ups were done at Virgin or Quantas freight, whichever you use. They are close to the terminal but confusing if you do not know exactly where, go past & its round the roads until you can get back in the right part even though you can see it. Phone the airline & ask & for directions too, safer.
  2. Question about the bell training. Would they ding the bell when they just wanted to go out to play ? None of mine bark to go out. 2 scratch the door & whine, 1 runs to the door & back to me tail wagging & 2 just keep coming up to me & staring intensely until I ask do you want a piddle, then tail wags & they go to the door.
  3. You are an Never seen a black one in this breed before, very pretty Time is a great healer of all things. A rescue I once had did nothing but sit in a bed with her head down, jump out to eat & pee & that was it for 6 weeks. Every day I patted her & the dog she slept with but ignored in every other way. Never made one sound. One day on week 6 she licked my hand, came out of bed & started barking. Tears streamed down my face, happy ones. No turning back after that. So it can happen when she is ready. I think you will keep this girl for ever :D
  4. I would not send the papers or a pedigree copy even if they had deceased stamped on them or something. People can do all sorts of clever things with photoshop etc. Why would they want them ?
  5. I always had the understanding that the wisdom of the limited register was designed for non breedworthy pedigrees, not as a tool to place restrictions upon quality puppies...........perhaps I am wrong??? Yes you are wrong. My puppies are desexed before sale. They are top quality & many are show worthy, the main thing with a few is that they have gone over size, which is very common with toy poodles from some wonderful lines. Do you actually realise how many dogs, especially my breed are sold on limited register & then bred from or cross bred ? It is the most common breed used for this purpose & in puppy farms. Pet people deserve a health tested, quality pedigree purebred dog too. They don't have to have a dog with a fault. How are we to promote ownership & pride of our chosen breed if we expect all to go in the show ring or be bred from ? Many of the public still think a pedigree dog is only for this purpose, a snob/status thing or only for the wealthy. This image has to be changed. Limited register does not mean inferior. Dogs SA are allowing desexed dogs to be shown from July this year. In the cat world neutered cats are shown, do well & are very popular with those who love to show but not breed.

  7. Agree more should advertise there, so many pet shop & byb breeders, they need to know we are here. Putting Registered breeder, pedigree puppies, health tested etc lets them know. A price should be stated so that they can see that it won't cost them an arm & a leg in comparison.
  8. Absolutely ridiculous, it would hardly be your own dog. The desexing yes, the rest is your choice, a breeder can only recommend & suggest diet etc. Re the vaccs I agree for some yearly is not needed but living in the metro area, especially in Adelaide, outbreaks of parvo are not uncommon so living there I would vaccinate very year. I request politely for mine that they are never advertised as a free give away or placed in a pound or shelter if at any time in their life the owner is unable to care for them, to please return to me. I also give a 12 month genetic health guarantee & ask if there is anything at all that worries or concerns them to call me for advice or go to their vet & let me know asap, when puppies go to their new homes. Return of the dog re show etc is really a lease thing. Very off putting. No wonder some go to the pet shop. Try elsewhere.
  9. If the breeder has eye certificates there is no reason why they can not be scanned into the computer & emailed to you, or faxed. If you were told that certificates were done it is not intrusive to ask for them given what has happened. It may help you to make a decision as to what you feel should be negotiated however it does take 2 to negotiate. Good luck with your dog, hope recovery is good.
  10. People like this make all our efforts worthwhile. Its the best when people who have your dogs keep in contact or visit. Some may just send an email at xmas but it is so appreciated to know that our pups have a good home. Loved the video that one owner put on facebook of one of mine swimming. Sometimes in the somewhat daunting process of finding homes we do forget the many wonderful people who are out there.
  11. How bloody stupid to vaccinate at that age, & useless too. The vet knows this. Not sure in pups but in cats they have been known to have a reaction up to a week later from talking to some breeders I know where this has occurred. Symptoms are variable, some showing few & then just dropping dead however I would not tell your friend that part. Shaking, unsteady on legs, the runs, off food, lethargy, anything unusual. That's for kittens but imagine similar for pups. Hopefully they will be ok. I don't know anyone who has vaccinated at this age.
  12. Depends on the breed. Try 1 to a maximum of 4 puppies, if lucky. Calculating the purchase price & upkeep of bitch & stud, PRA tests, vet checks, 1 litter a year for only a few times, vet check & dew claw removal for puppies, vaccs, microchip, desexing for mine, $80 petrol for vet visits + more for taking them out socialising, the extra special food, laundry, heating, cooling, grooming, phone calls, extra vet visits if there is the slightest worry, registrations, I doubt 2 puppies break even. The amount spent on other things & requirements when not breeding is considerable too unless one wants to give minimum care & quality of life for your dogs. Maybe on a large breed that has big litters & is hardy it is possible but on toy breeds unless the male is studded out for $'s please tell me how to make a profit & I will dream about it all. Sorry but your post is a bit silly IMO.
  13. I don't know but hope its a poodle club. We had one many years ago here & it was fantastic. The fun days were terrific. Then it all went haywire & completely fell apart. No one ever started it again.
  14. By all means contact the people, offer to pay for desexing or do what you can. Unfortunately many people don't see any harm in getting a few hundred dollars for stud, its easy cash. Add that to the fact that they have probably been flattered by being told what a good dog he is, how they have lovely homes for the puppies & how all their dogs come from good, healthy lines. I know I have just tried to talk someone out of their malamute, pet, being used, they had 3 offers of very good money. The only sure way to make sure this does not recur is to desex before they go or have a contract stating that the condition of sale is that the dog must be desexed by a specific date or you will call at their house & take the dog back & refund their money May not stand up legally, who knows, but it sounds scary enough to make them do it Good luck.
  15. Yes this is common also for prices to drop if there is an over supply however way this has been explained to you does not show a good attitude. It is up to the breeder what they charge & this can be very variable but this does not sound good. I would be willing to pay more for show/breeding quality than a pet but it is up to the breeder. I would also charge more for this. My puppies are priced the same for male or female. Due to the fact that mine are desexed before leaving me & that there is an over supply of BYB's, pet shop & puppy farmers I price reasonably in the hope that people will not go to these places & be encouraged to go to a registered breeder. Agree run a mile from this one.
  16. That's about it exactly. A shame that the breeder will not do main reg for show & has broken their word but doubt anything can be done about it.
  17. What about a heat pad ? An alternative that is not so expensive & will last for years.
  18. I totally gave up yesterday on this subject. See my reply on the post Kill me now, bloody lost cause.
  19. They won't. A friend of mine, well respected & successful show person of another type of animal has just gone in the pet shop & got a cross breed puppy. No one could know better all about the lack of health testing, puppy farming etc I actually phoned not long ago & told them to turn on the TV to watch a puppy farm raid. If their animals were cross bred & sold in pet shops they would be raging angry, get disgusted at others who put theirs in the pet shop or do the wrong thing but of course this puppy was cute & they were assured it did not come from a puppy farm & its vet checked & healthy No one could know better about every aspect of this, including it encouraging & funding the trade with every puppy sold. I now realise that nothing will stop this, its what people want, I totally give up :D :D
  20. Sounds normal enough, birth is an individual experience for each dog & it does not sound like anything drastic occurred. As posted if the bitch is not straining or contracting time between pups can vary enormously. A cat of mine was so small I thought there was just 1 kitten. She gave birth to it & 36 hours later when I was checking her, which I did hourly, there were another 2 babies there Normal size & perfectly healthy. I had felt her tummy several times & could not feel any movement or even suspected it. Have bred many litters & never had this happen.
  21. What a horrid & upsetting experience. Speechless.
  22. They are great. When mine won't stop barking on the odd occasion they see something that over excites them & won't obey my quiet I reach for the rolled newspaper. They stop instantly & look on in sheer terror as I hit my hand or the wall with it :D really.
  23. As much as I hate more rules & laws as we have so many here for so many things I agree with the desexing because More dogs die of being dumped in the pound, being bred to death & puppy farmed than they do of being desexed. If a survey was done on how many die in comparison I am sure dying of desexing & related conditions would be very low. Sometimes we have to sacrifice for the greater good. People are bloody idiots, which is not fair on those responsible. How many dogs sold with limited papers are bred from & sold as pets. Its a lot & the owners are not going to inform you. Add that to the mongrels that are bred & we have a constant supply for the demand. Then people get sick of their purchase & the pile of unwanted & dead dogs grow. Where are the dogs rights ? I desex all pups before they leave me. New owners are pleased this has been done. Obviously exemptions must be made for the old, sick, health reasons & extended time frame for larger breeds.
  24. After checking all the normal things like too hot/cold/hungry etc try burping them like you would a baby. Sometimes they get wind & tummy aches. Over feeding or gutsing too quickly. Hold upright in your hand & gently massage around the back or try gentle belly rubs. Mum has probably tried everything she can like feeding/toileting etc. This can just happen & they probably will settle down & be fine. Bit alarming though.
  25. I asked my vet the same question as my girls were due on season & due their vaccs. Asked how close to mating was safe time wise, did I have to wait a week or so after the vaccs. Was told it doesn't matter how close as long as they were done before actually mating them.
