  1. I agree with tashnchief as to progesterone levels. This is one of the main reasons bitches cannot carry their litters to term. Low levels of progesterone and it is more common than most people think as to the main reason for litters being absorbed / aborted. Unless you monitor the levels you would be none the wiser. The herpes virus is another major concern and one that I don't think many realise can do a lot of damage and is here!!!! And again I agree , why do we not have the vaccination here for it???? Oh that is right we are in Australia!
  2. I am very sorry for your loss silentchild. Hugs to you RIP Emma
  3. Qaulity weight rated retractable leads are great when used correctly. They are worth spending good money for strength reliabilty and peace of mind. I will not use a cord type lead, have seen to many injuries to both human and dog with those eg; Fingers cut to the bone, dogs legs cut through to the bone etc as well as the normal burning / abrasive type injuries. I will only use a flat retractable type lead of reliable quality. But as we "dog people" are aware there are many cheaper versions of anything out there that are of no quality and will fail.We also know that most people have no idea how to use equipment correctly and prove so by their actions.
  4. Surprise news. After attending the Ballarat Show on Sunday it seems that the bag of missing items was picked up by a lovely couple who had since been hanging onto them the next time they saw the owner (who they thought had left the bag behind). Great news when you can help out each other like this. The items will be returned to the owner next weekend.!
  5. Sounds possibilty like Puppy Strangles..... very hard to make a any definitive diagonsis based on what you have stated.
  6. TessnSean sadly you are probably right about not getting them back. Sounds like the same scenerio that your friends had with their walls. Sorry to hear about your car door as well. I have had damage done to my car and trailer at shows and I have to really wonder about the calibre of people at dogs shows! I know most are lovely people but the small minority tarnish us all! Sad really! Edited for bad spelling
  7. Glad it has all worked out well! :) Thank you for sharing the photos :D
  8. Posting on behalf of a friend; Noorat Champ Shows in Victoria last weekend, whilst packing up l have had a red bag with the name Lilly all over it either taken by mistake or stolen sadly? In it was the following; 4 x oz trail compact gazebo walls(used once before) white 1 x oz trail compact gazebo mesh wall (used once before) white 1 x XL crate cover black, 1 x smaller silver hanging water bowl. If you have picked this up by mistake or have just picked it up l would hope you would have the decency to return them? You can either drop them at KCC or Bulla with my name on them. As you are aware, it takes a while to buy all of your gear and this sets me back close to $250, please be nice and send them back no Questions asked. Nicole Phillips on 0430 517 176 Or alternatively send me a PM. I hope she gets these items back. Sadly we have found out that a number of other people have had items taken whilst at this show.
  9. Great news that you have found it. :-) You might wish to take down your lost add that you have listed in Lost / Found :-)
  10. As a breeder I would be very dissapointed to hear that one of my 5 month old pups had been to a boarding kennel for that period of time. It is not an environment I would want to see a young pup in for many reasons. We offer to take our pups back in their first 12 months should a boarding kennel be required.
  11. The minimum age is 3 calendar months old. :)
  12. I know what you are saying. I have seen way to much lately around and in the ring. It does come in ebs and flows. People please look at what you are wearing and what we all can see!!!!!!!!! Ewwwwwwwwwwwww
  13. Many years ago handing out the place ribbons was done, these days not so. If you wish to have your place ribbon go and ask for it. I do this for the dogs I take out / show that don't live with me, the owners like to have the ribbons and that is fair enough, so I make the effort to get their ribbons. Sometimes the BOB / Challenge ribbons are not handed out and again I make the effort to go and get them for the owners. New exhibitors need to make it known to the Stewards and Judges. Most will be very helpful and give you great advice. The helpful Ring Stewards that know you are a new exhibitor will guide you and let you know that you will need to hang around for a Challenge line up and or Class run off, etc. Glad to hear you have found some people to help guide you along, it can be very confusing when you first start out. Good luck in the ring! :)
  14. I really hope you find it. More so whoever has it hands it in to the police. Good luck!
  15. arjay I am using Royal Canin, all dogs are doing very well on it. All have improved coats, no itchy dogs like before and the muscle definition has improved. I am very happy with the results, in fact I have had to cut some of them them back on volume as they are starting to get a bit heavy :)
  16. Have you consulted Dr Ian Bidstrup........Spinal Vet www.spinalvet.com.au
  17. Another here who no longer uses Black Hawk, it was good when we started, but it isn't any more IMHO. We kept getting bags of different consistency / colour size and shape. We also had dogs lose muscle and definition, who also lost weight. We also had poor coats and itchy skin as well as other things. Having to feed more to keep the weight on. Talking with my supplier she too had the same complaints from other customers.........now on onother brand and our dogs and pups haven't looked back!
  18. They look great! Do they have mesh on both sides of the crate or just one side?
  19. My experience with a couple of my bitches......... Bitch bred to total outcross resulting in 11 pups, 9 survivors. Bitch bred again 1/2 brother x 1/2 sister mating resulting in 13 pups, all survived Bitch for third and final litter total outcross resulting in 7 pups, all survived. Another bitch; Outcross........ 11 pups, 10 survivors Outcross from frozen semen, 11 pups, 8 survivors Outcross 8 pups all survivors Another bitch; Line breeding 10 pups all surviving ........ I could go on, I really think it depends on your bitch and the dog you use, time of breeding, age and health as well as so many other things. Breeding has too many variables!
  20. I am so very sorry for your loss. RIP Buddy, run free old man! Just tragic!
  21. Great news about the 10 days requirement coming in soon. It will make importing less of a stress on the dog and more of an option for a lot of us.
  22. Today my numbers arrived, the envelope post marked 15th November 2012. Good old Australia post at its best, again!
