My dryer was around $800 (Oldfields) Hydrobath Conmurra $1650. Hydrobaths Australia (which has now been taken over by FIDOS) are still making the Conmurra baths. (well they were two months ago when I spoke with them last)

Squirt here is Poodlefans BARF diet if that helps. I'm about to start making my own as buying the BARF patties is getting a bit exy. Poodlefan’s BARF Veggie Mix I based this on Dr B's recipe for veggie patties in GYPWB. Lets see if I can explain it like a cook book does! Ingredients 1 small container of yogurt 2 tablespoons of flax seed oil 2 kg of mixed fruit and veggies (I use some root veggies, some fruit and some green veggies in every mix) 1 kg full fat beef mince 1 large piece of liver or a few kidneys Optional: Any nutritional supplement as per directions eg. Missing Link, Green Pet Method 1. Add yogurt, flax seed oil and supplement to a large container (I use a 20 litre bucket) and blend well 2. Add the mince and mix well . 3. Juice a little of the fruit and veggies. Add some of the juice to a blender and blend the offal until smooth. Resist urge to smell mix – you will regret it. Try not to vomit at result’s appearance and add to main ingredients. 4. Run the rest of the fruit and veggies through the juicer or blender. Add all the pulp to the mix and enough juice to obtain a firm but not sloppy consistency. You should end up with about 30% mince mix and the rest is veggies. 5. Put into storage containers and freeze. I find this mix feeds 5 mini poodles for 5 meals. My mix is evolving over time. I’ve used other additives like Power Blend, Barley Grass Power, Brewers Yeast, Vitamin C – I just change them from time to time. My large dog owning friends do all the stages from 1 to 3 and then freeze the mix, juicing fresh veggies separately to add to it. This cuts down on freezer space and the time taken to make the mix. I add one or two eggs to the thawed mix, blend them through and feed. If you find your dog is not accepting the mix, add a little more fresh mince to their feed and slowly reduce the amount of mince they receive. So, Im thinking a mix of Poodlefans and Tess' diet for my guys. Mildred can't eat bones though

ARGHHHHHHHH, I've lost his website addy. Would anyone have it please? -
Are there vets out there who would do phone consults to see then if it's necessary to travel in? Can you take a dogs temperature? I suppose then there is no way to get drugs if you need it then.............

I don't think you're overreacting. He could possibly have a blockage? It's also worth mentioning to the vet that Turtle has just done a stint in boarding kennels. Diarrhea could be diet change, although he's been back a while now hasn't he? I would get him to a vet sooner, rather than later ie tomorrow if possible. I hope it's nothing serious. Have you got any cooked chicken and rice you can give in the meantime? eta: *snap* gashmir - posted at same time, so sorry doubled up on info

Thanks guys for replying. This thread me me realise that Garloch is our only Scotty member I'm not sure how old he is, older than 7-8 months at least. He didn't have his head clipped when bought. He was sold on main register as I believe the owner wanted to breed. But not show, so yes he was given a pet clip. I'm rather dubious of my Scotty clips, lol, but she's been elsewhere and loves them. I thank God for my trusty grooming book Owner said he is 'enormous' too. To be fair, she's not that hung up on it as she loves him, I am just curious. She said she'll wait and see what happens with his coast and is now thinking of desexing. I ended up haing to brush it downwards after the first dry. The female I brush with the dryer to work the knots out and whichever way you dry the skirt falls beautifully. I don't condition any terriers, but was tempted to put a gallon of hairspray in instead :D Parts of the skirt area had only grown about one cm, there was the faintest brown tinge too. Thankfully owner takes good care of the coats and I usually only find a few small knots on the inside forelegs. Thanks Garloch

I *think* Revolution is the only one okay to give without a test as it breaks the worm down, whereas the other products kill the worm which then blocks the arteries, killing the dog. Please don't quote me on this

I only groom the one Scotty. Her owner has recently bought another and he came in the other day for this first clip The owner mentioned that his body shape is slightly different to most Scottys but we were more curious about his coat. It is very soft and fluffy, only wirey in parts (across his back legs). His skirt is incredibly soft like a Poodle and when drying it fluffed up and out  so it was re-dried flat. His skirt is also very patchy and curly in parts and at nowhere near the length of the female at that age. Dog was bought from reg'd breeder via the net. His beard/eyebrows are soft and silky like a Malts - none of the wirey texture. So I'm wondering if some Scotties can take a while for their true coat to come in? Or has she unwittingly bought a ScottiPoo

Groomers! Are You Sick Of Clueless Clients
Clyde replied to qashmir's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
now that is funny One of my male clients doesn't like the hair clipped from his dogs willy. He likes me to 'scuplt' it to make it look chunkier. It's his wifes miniature desexed Poodle - so there's not a lot to work with  -

Susan, I don't think it's relevant if someone has been grooming 5 days or 25 years - Gashmir has an enormous chip on their shoulder about something... seems like an inferiority complex. Does it really bloody matter if someone wants to write notes? A normal person would just smile and take the note, it's truly not a big deal. I write everything down when I am paying someone for a service. This way there can be no confusion as to what I want. Patience and tolerance is a wondrous thing Gashmir - find some and you'll be a much happier person -
Grooming A Schnauzer..
Clyde replied to Gerda the Schnauzer's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Standards are still quite small. you aren't confusing them with the Giant? Schnauzer clip for a Standard would be $65, I don't go Giants but if I did it would be about $90. I don't do many pure breds and find the Schnoodle coat quite possibly the most difficult coat to work with, ever. -

Geez, some of you guys really need to relax It's a hair cut - who cares how the owner wants it done, it's their dog. I love it when new owners bring in a check list of how they want it, if it's doable I'll style the dog in to a porcupine if that's what they want. They are the customer and pay to put food on our tables. I think alot of people forget that. Grooming is a fast growing industry. I believe one day we will have to really hang on to our good clients as the competition will be immense once proper training comes through. Nothing I can't stand more is when I want my hair cut and the hairdresser does it to her specs and not mine I agree it's nice to see our pure breds in proper styles but it's becoming far less common as our lifestyles are getting busier. I grimace clipping off a regular little Bichons face but I'd prefer that than have the dog matted or tick riddled and for the owner to find caring for their dog more manageable. -
Really Good Groomer In Sydney?
Clyde replied to Gomez the Norfolk's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
There's one in Lane Cove but I cant remember the name. FWIW - some dogs chuck a wobbly at my front gate too, but I can guarantee I'm not rough on them. Some(most) dogs would just rather be doing other stuff ;) I find the main dogs who get super excited to come are the ones who get no attention at home and are outdoor dogs. They never want to leave with their owners. I worked in a salon before where they were quite rough with the dogs (hence my leaving) after each dog was done they were given treats and then maybe some cuddles so most dogs were happy to come back as they usually remember the treats, very sad I've also heard Bella and Fox are good too, they are in Drummoyne. They have a web site. *Everything that comes out of Mondo Cane stinks like stale nicotene. Unless they've stopped sparking up in there 9-5. A shame as they have nice stuff but I would never buy from there. -

I definitely wouldn't try it again. If there is a reaction, more often than not, it gets worse with each exposure. Find a different product. My cat had a bad reaction to Advocate - he scratched and scratched at the site and then his hair fell out.

Second the vaso, great stuff!

Do a DOL search on "knuckling" you will find a lot of info. There was a thread only in the past week about it too.

What a relief!!! Will it cause any long term effects do you think? -
Just a little snippet of useless info... when I fed my Shitty x tinned wet food he had terrible staining and wet eyes constantly - switched him to a quality kibble and barf patties - no more eye goobers and no more staining.

Help With Skin Condition In Rescued Bully Pup
Clyde replied to BomaBec's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
is this common practice? I would be devastated if I picked out a new pup/dog ..took it to the vet, and found it tested positive to heartworm Nope. And like Pug Rescue, I would be spitting chips if I adopted a heartworm positive dog. Expensive to treat - not to mention the trauma on the dog putting it through surgery and vaccinations while suffering from heartworm. I'm actually surprised BomaBec that your vet doesn't insist on testing for heartworm. Perhaps have a chat to your vet, but in fairness to adopters and the dog you may want to reconsider this practice. You can always incorporate the extra fee into your adoption fee as it is probably already a little cheaper now than other rescues as you don't already cover the test. -
