A local pesticide company recommends planting Lavendar Bush. I'm going to give it a shot!

Haemostats? It could genuinely be hurting. I still cry like a baby getting my eyebrows waxed and take my own tube of Bonjela with me when I get it done. I don't know anything about the coat of the Lagotto though. I do have some dogs which just can't handle the pain so they get clipped instead as best as possible.

Honestly, a groomer should simply be happy to show you for nothing. If you were local I know I would!!! The first couple of times are usually bit tougher but then the hair starts to pull out quite easily down the track. Little bits at a time, with lots of verbal fussing and head scracthing/tapping at the same time, to distract them from the job at hand.

My step Dad is the same. He has just recovered from Tick Fever which really whacked him in bed for about a month... one tick too many apparently

I was wondering about all the South Sydney tick posts popping up. I was living in Yowie Bay for a stint and my dogs would come all over The Shire with me without a problem or even an inkling that ticks were an issue. This was about 5-6 yrs back. Have they always been around?

Thanks guys. I've been using the Pyohex Lotion but my googling came up with Panalog. Apparently it's a breed 'thing' which breeders recommend so thought it would be a good idea to grab some anyway. There's nothing in there as far as I can see, had a good look this avo but her paws are quite yeasty all of a sudden. I think I know what from - my hydrobath drain hose goes out on to my lawn and she works 'by my side' all day. My bath float assembly is currently busted so I have to turn the hose on and off of water access to the bath - she follows me up and down the soggy lawn all day splashing about in the wet grass . So could the lesions simply come from the malassezia? I'm just guessing with the prognosis, going by online piccies. Although it seems to just be in first stages hence I thought the cream and no more soggy lawn would do the trick. She's not licking at them.

Interdigital furuncles. I've just used Malaseb but don't think it's enough so thought I'd get Panalog to try. 'Cyst' has only appeared today. Any ideas?

*Hooray*!! Can I just get it over the counter?
-
Can we buy it in Oz? If not, would the equivalent be Ilium Neocort? Is Ilium anti fungal like Panalog? Cheers

Another vote for Champion Tails. A GREAT whitener but also gets others colours reflecting nicely - it seems to enrich them. I haven't had any problems with it skin wise, but I also haven't used it on a dog with problem skin. Good luck for your first show!!

I would wait and have it closely monitored Crystei. If it does grow then have it (the tumour only) removed, if it stays the same with no other effects then leave it. Good luck!

Somebody posted a link the other day to www.thegroomingschool.com.au . Usually I've fobbed these off, but going to the web site it actually looks really good. The instructor seems more than experienced! Perhaps call them (they are in Sydney) and they might have some ideas/advice depending on how far you wanted to go with it.

Another Hydrobath Question ....
Clyde replied to Crits'N'Bits's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
The reason I wash mine so often is simply b/c I like them squeaky clean Especially my boy, his wees on his front legs, kicks up his own poo and rubs his face in manure. Plus it's a chance to do a tick rinse and go over them extra thoroughly. Try the Aloveen Shampoo and Leave in Hannah, it's great stuff, very gentle and smells divine!!! YOu can buy it cheaper online. -
Hydrobaths, Double/single Tanks And Auto Fill

Smart cookie!! I don't know if it was necessarily Fido's brand but that is definitely what I meant. Thank you!!!! Have been trying to work that out since :D ETA: I think Fidos and Hydrobaths Australia are one and the same now, so if you call Hydrobaths Australia the woman there is so lovely, helpful and mindful of peoples budgets. -
Another Hydrobath Question ....
Clyde replied to Crits'N'Bits's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I agree, it is too much. However I groom dogs weekly and also wash mine weekly. Does the flea shampoo have soap in it? Chances are it's not really doing much anyway, flea shampoo is not usually effective. Seeing as you are washing so often you should use a leave in treatment or similar. I use Aloveen Leave in conditioner to help moisturise the skin and coat... it works a treat! Personally I would be looking at a more effective means of flea control and wash your dog less especially if you are using inferior quality products. I've found Aloveen shampoo a good product if you are washing so often. ETA: the best skin and the least stinky dogs are the ones I get in only a few times a year for their bath. I personally couldnt do it, lol, but it's clearly saying something! -
This happened to one of my brothers working dogs A bitch with pups wasn't in her pen and she got to a carcass even though my brother hadn't laid any baits at that time. She died leaving her pups alone. Sadly my brother isn't the nurturing type with his working dogs and only two pups survived "Ten" and "Eighty"

Hydrobaths, Double/single Tanks And Auto Fill
Clyde replied to cass_06's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
To be honest I would have thought you could get the same model but double tank for that price second hand. Although you probably don't actually need the twin tank - I'm just pointing out that I think $1100 is a bit exy for a 2 yr old single tank. Although in fairness I haven't looked around. Have you checked out Hydrobaths Australia's web site for the price of one new? Just to get a picture... Just a thought - in all honesty I would look at one of those freestanding bath tub type tubs - the dogs ones that are on long legs. You could hook up your own hoses for warm water as you already have that set up... it would save you a packet! While hydrobaths are great to some degree I think they are more work than they need to be for the pet owner. I can't think of the name for the tubs... sorry! Anyone? I've just seen random pics about of them. You wouldnt have to bend over to reach your dogs. Even in the hydrobath you have to bend right over for the littlies - back breaking - but then you can buy the raised thingo but they arent cheap either. I'm waffling, lol, but hopefully someone else will know what I mean about those basic tubs. -
Inspector Rex, where do you buy it from? My brothers Border Collie does the same as your girl - he has tried alot of 'calmers' but to no avail so I would be interested to see if this can help his dog. thanks

I thought Buspar had been around for a while? Almost ten years ago it was prescribed for one of my cats. I'm sorry I don't know how she went on it as I ended up moving house as she was too stressed living where we were (tom cats coming in to the house and bullying her etc) so she no longer needed it. I have used Clomicalm before (again on a cat) but she ended up behaving as though she was doped all the time.

Dalmatian Inpain Due To Testicals
Clyde replied to jacquelie1989's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
It's probably not relevant but I took my dog off Advance fairly recently as it made him tichy and chew on his bum area. As soon as I switched, he stopped. Perhaps try the Avoveen Leave In Conditioner aswell, it may help to soothe the area. -
Oh my God, that is my worst nightmare Your poor friend. Rest in peace Kelly

Sorry, but tinned food would be the last slop I gave my dog. Even though Natures Gift is one of the 'better' ones there is still crap in there your pet doesn't need. Although I do agree that perhaps diet could be reassesed to get to the root of the allergy. Another Aloveen nut here!! efs

Pesh I'm finding that too, even with my most fastidious clients. They are the worst I've seen in many years of grooming (same with ticks). Advantage(or Advantix) FORTNIGHTLY is how I'm treating my own pets and recommending to others. I've noticed efficacy drop off at about day 15 as mentioned above. Even clients who have done all the recommended treatments and house/yard sprays are still getting a few - but others are just in plague proportions!

I would cut out the extra calcium if I were you. An old Rotti of mine had bone problems from me giving her too much calcium as a pup before I knew better . Your pup is getting the chicken and the balance in the Eukanuba so no need to add calcium which can do more harm than good if they get too much.
