  1. I don't do them either but more for fear of my own safety :D I gladly recommend another groomer when people enquire. Although the nearby cat groomer will only groom cats who are used to it.
  2. How much roughly is it to get it? Now that George is no longer going to training I've been thinking of this for a while. I need to do something either way as I groom from home so can't really take it upon myself to simply not vax or assume all is well in case a clients dog gets sick and they want to point the finger, I can be covered.
  3. I'm really confused. Admittedly not into diet in hard core way like some - but I always thought that BARF was raw feeding. What am I missing? Also what is the difference between raw and prey model?
  4. Another vote for single tank Conmurra. Alot of the parts you can get from Bunnings - but the rest, Hydrobaths Australia have and post out very efficiently!
  5. Ringworm is not actually a worm MCM. It's a fungal infection, like humans getting Tinea. So it's treated entirely differently to an All-wormer. Either way they're both gross!
  6. He probably means Hot Spots, but they 'aint Hot Spots! Poor dog Quit Itch is a great suggestion!!
  7. I'm so sorry for your loss. I will always remember the little scuffed knee pic of your wee boy with his dog - it's so beautiful

I'm so sorry for your loss BP Thinking of you and your family.
  9. She's gorgeous, very Saintly looking. She could also have entropian and suffered with goopey eyes a long time. Hopefully it is simply part if the infection. Respiratory infections in giant breeds and especially seniors can develop easily in to being quite serious so keep her quiet, seperate and let us know how you go at the vets
  10. A man walks his enormous dog/people aggressive Rotti past my house every morning. He stops at my fence and puts his dog through a repertoire of training It used to reeeeally piss me off and certainly tested my control of my own dogs. Now that deaf old Victoria has passed George only gives a loud wuff then comes back inside. I'd like to think he's that angelic when I'm out too I don't understand why he's chosen my property I suppose because when he started I had three varying dogs On the up side at least he's trying to deal with his dogs issues. I wish you luck, but personally I'd go out and introduce myself and ask her to work with you on this. Perhaps you can introduce your dog to hers. But while you're at it tell her how dangerous it is to tether dog to pram
  11. Any dog is prone to tooth decay but the littlies do seem to suffer a little more. IMO that is mostly due to owners feeding littlies soft food assuming they wouldn't eat kibble or bones. The vet will probably give them a good clean. At that age he *shouldn't* need removal but you never know. If he does lose a few teeth they adapt pretty well and I'm sure they'll have diet tips. I had quite a few little fluffies (foster dogs) that needed a whole load of teeth pulled, but they still managed dry food and the odd cut chicken neck. Otherwise if it's just a clean beg your DIL to start feeding the dog a more sensible diet. ie- quality kibble and bones (under supervision). efs
  12. No. It was Jose who went under and Fidos stepped in over Christmas and have taken over. Business is now as usual.
  13. Ok. Well I'm not so panicked now. Hydrobaths Australia (new owners) have just phoned me back to assure me that they will still be up and running. They will incorporate Conmurra Baths with their exisiting Fidos Baths. So future Conmurra Hyrdobaths will not be a problem, but more importantly spare parts aren't an issue. She also disagreed with the 4 year life span saying she knows plenty of people with baths 10+ years old. So, I am going to stick with my trusty Conmurra! To the OP, sorry for the Hijack! But maybe it has helped you somewhat as Conmurra Baths are fibreglass and very reasonably priced at almost half what Perfect Paws are but the same features.
  14. Ooooooo really? Maybe we should picket their office I know when I emailed them (RC) initially the person who replied telling me they didn't have it said she was a Bulldog breeder so was pretty bummed it wasn't available. You would think she would be nagging them, I know I would! :D
  15. Same. And at the time they had the rep. at being the best which is why I'm confused about the price of Perfect Paws which I have only heard about on DOL. Does it squeeze anal glands too? BTW Perfect Paws one (dual tank) is $4050. I'll spend it if necessary but need to be sold on it first.
  16. The problem with the plastic hydrobath is the hygiene factor, as the minute scratches that build up and this will allow bacteria to breed in them. This would be more of an issue in a grooming salon when it is being used constantly and the risk and liability from cross infection is a concern. This is the reason why they do not make spa baths for humans from plastic: they use fibre glass for the surface durability. Ok. But any good groomer disinfects their baths, blades, table etc in between every dog. So would this still be an issue? (genuine question) My Conmurra is pushing 8 years old, seeing as their life span is only supposed to be about 4-5yrs it's doing pretty well (looks like new). It needs a new float assembly but I'm worried about getting future parts from them (Hydrobaths Aust) if they are going out of business............ The Perfect Paws price for equivalent model is crazy! BARF shop is more realistic however inferior?????? structure. Anyone here had both before? Or able to compare without bias... PR - have you any probs with yours so far?
  17. The Royal Canin Rep said alot of Bulldog people feed Royal Canin for Boxers, however I would be concerned that the Boxer food would be too high in protein?? At the moment I'm feeding Optimum (as per breeder), BARF patties and chicken necks diced up occasionally when George gets them. Not game to try her on bones. Breeder had a lot of dogs and said No Bones! NB. (*To whichever Bulldog person who likes to blab and spread rumours, please read my post CAREFULLY before phoning your little friends with your own miscontrued version)
  18. You mean no mean not to? Hopefully you do! Thanks Oonga! Will take some pics of flubberguts tomorrow and come back, hopefully I won't be shamed and outed after you see them For the first time in my life, I just cannot keep a dog lean.
  19. Just querying the 4 plus grand for the Perfect Paws bath as opposed to the 2 plus grand for the Hydrobaths Australia one - anyone able to compare?
  20. Could someone perhaps start a new thread along the lines of Nutrition, Grooming, Health and Exercise please? I'd like to come back and discuss nutrition/diet. I'm also sure that other posters esp. newbies to Rotts will like to talk about this without railroading this thread which is more for our sick doggies. I wouldn't feel comfortable asking menial diet questions and whining about thunder thighs George when I know I am lucky he is in full health, when there are others having a seriously rough time. Thanks :D
  21. This thread is a great idea! I can't keep up with the other thread , so it's kind of nice to have the smaller forums so I can pop in every so often and get the gist of what's going on. I'm really pleased that there is a support group for those who have sick dogs. Sorry to hear about Tyson RNB  And CavNRott I hope Sophie stays with you pain free for some time to come. It's sad to read what she has been through lately.
  22. www.miteyfresh.com.au Also, if you have heavy flea burden, try Advantage fortnightly.
  23. I dont think that's true, I spoke to Royal Canin and they are planning on bringing it out here, I spoke to them in August last year and they said probably Feb this year it would be available through pet shops. Its already in NZ. That info was as of yesterday from Royal Canin. I emailed them last week or so, and also spoke to a rep.
