  1. Oldfield, the double speed. High speed will get your Saints done in no time, then low for Cav's. Actually I think it's even got low, medium and high. I've treated mine terribly, never serviced and bought it about 10yrs ago. Love it love it love it!
  2. I guess if people have exhausted all training options and it comes down to having their dogs destroyed by council, they opt for debarking in order to keep their dog and local peace.
  3. I would send her back Easy for me to say than for you to do, I am sure. I would be worried that these problems could just be the start of a 'problem dog'. To me it sounds as though the breeder is trying to do the right thing and this is a blessing as some would cut you loose. I think it's just really, really bad luck that you got a pup with problems and seeing as this breeder sounds ethical and you already researched her I would still get a replacement puppy from her, but perhaps not a repeat mating. You have already poured a lot of money in a dog where you don't know if the end result will be one that you want. Give yourself a financial cut off too. I don't envy your position
  4. My Bratrice dog died 6 months after I got her The heart ache of what I went through with her has put me off the breed altogether even though I know who gorgeous they are.
  5. Just buy a new one from Ruthless Leather
  6. Please do not feed the dogs - if you did this at my house there is a good chance you could end up with one of my dogs dead - i have a very food aggressive dog. You also do not know what the dogs eat and if they are allergic to something, never ever feed someones dog without the owners ok. Same. One of mine has bad allergies and another is food aggressive. Bad idea. If I found out someone was feeding my dogs, heads would roll. Especially good-o's, that's doggy Macca's.
  7. I get my Eagle Pack from Pet Deli. Fantastic personal service for the past 5 years or so.
  8. I know I'll be shot down in flames by my fellow dog lovers however I just don't understand people who involve their dogs at their weddings. My dogs are my family too but there is no way I would have them at my wedding, I think it's weird.
  9. It sounds weird to me.... free house sitting Why don't you sus out the House Sitting websites and register your details on there. You'd have better luck targeting people who aren't as obsessed with their dogs as us DOL'ers are. People like 'us' don't usually leave pets with randoms, whether they're in our homes or not.
  10. Gee, that's awful Is the dog from a registered breeder? Just wondering if you have any recourse - not that it really helps when it comes to the emotional side of things..........
  11. That's a vicious rumour! ;) My main concern would be with that mix, is that the dog will look like a pit bull type. A friend bought the same mix a year or so ago and while the dog is a nutcase (but a nice one), she looks very pit bull-ish. Certainly enough for her to be concerned about her local council! Good luck with him, I'm sure he's gorgeous!
  12. Didn't you start a thread the other day about pet sitting with your own GSD? I use house sitters as I don't like to kennel all my pets. I only ever use people who will be here a lot and don't bring their own pets.
  13. I think you have to allow for quirks. My Stafford pup who is rock solid doesn't like plastic bags flapping near him but my soft Stafford wouldn't blink if I tied a plastic bag around her collar for the day. Like people, they're allowed to have their likes and dislikes. There's a big difference between dislikes/quirks and weak nerves IMO.
  14. Yep, my Esme is like that too. She's very soft and doesn't cope with new situations/some people etc - yet she's reliable with my daughter and one of the best dogs I've ever owned. She does the beaten dog routine very well though. I know she's a 'dud' in terms of what the breed should be though - but she suits us 110%.
  15. Absolutely a no from me too. It would unbalance the whole pack structure.
  16. If at home I would really only board 2 or so dogs at a time, otherwise you will need to apply to set up a business which you probably won't get approval for. That's why I send my dogs to SBT123 who is around 5hrs? away rather one of the 7 or so kennels just minutes down the road. I know she only has 1-4 at a time so they get lots of attention and I know they, more importantly to me, sleep inside at night. They also get real exercise and a good diet. If you are going to do it, you need to offer more than what a kennel offers
  17. Stanley is staying with Warley atm. She has his older brother. I doubt they recognise that they are family, more like they recognise that they're both tools
  18. They're lovely Helen. Your photos always seem 'happy'
  19. Who was the lucky sod on poo duty the next day?
  20. OMG That is horrible.
  21. I wish she'd give my 5yr old some tips on taking control!
