  1. Pro Plan is on special at Pet Barn atm. It was around $35 saving. I'm on my second bag after previously feeding Eagle Pack and I wont be buying a 3rd. The dogs poos are enormous and sloppy.
  2. Which state are you in? Contact Denise from PAWS if in NSW. She will always take back her dogs so if anything did happen to your Nan and a dog was left homeless you can be sure it will be looked after by PAWS. ANy reputable rescue group should be able to say that worst case scenario they will assist in rehoming the dog. I wouldn't rush to the pound, try to find a dog who has been in foster care already. Much better option for the elderly.
  3. Living in a high tick area, the only thing which worked for me was Advantix. Frontline was like using water, no effect at all. I actually lost a dog to a tick which attached only 2cm from where the Frontline top spot went the week earlier.
  4. I hope the confusion of this food gets cleared up. When it's more transparent and still considered a good food, I will switch to it due to Eagle Pack supplies issues. Is anyone from the Black Hawk company able to clarify the issues?
  5. I didn't have a problem with Advantix for the dogs but Advantage didn't ever cut it for the cats. I've recently given Comfortis to the cats. It's not registered for cats but your vet can still work out the dosage. I gave it to all 3 cats about two weeks ago and have only seen one piece of flea dirt since
  6. If I were to do mobile again there is no way I would offer clipping. The ones who just wash and dry have the right idea. I set my own up for a fraction of the cost of a franchise (I looked in to Pet Mobile about 10yrs ago when I was setting my own business up). Just find a good trailer place and go from there. I know Silverwood trailers in Sydney do a lot of custom dog wash trailers so they had really good ideas. Call around locally and see if there's trailer places which have done this and have photos of their work. Then all you need is a bath, dryer, nail clippers, brush and product - too easy. I find even the second hand ones which go for sale are dearer than it would cost me to set up a new one. If you were local I'd be happy to give you some training. Do you know anyone near you in the industry who would help you out? There is no way I would ever go for a franchise.
  7. Wow, that truly brought tears to my eyes. What a lovely gesture. Congrats to you too for being such a responsible dog owner. eta: I've just finished reading the thread. How sad that we now have to be so paranoid : ( I wouldn't feed them 'just in case', Erny's right.
  8. I do this exactly and for the same reasons. Sit, stay works well for me.
  9. I wouldn't accept it as okay, but I find the lip curling and snapping quite common in Border Collies.
  10. I had the same worry. I ended up buying some compost cages from Bunnings and spray painting them black. I easily wired them on to the pool fence and as they are black you don't notice them. Much easier to put up and take down than fiddling with rolls of wire. Looks nicer too. :D My 2yr old Stafford can still fit through a standard pool fence. She's a contortionist!
  11. I have found Liberty to be the best out of those that I've tried.
  12. I couldn't help but laugh at this. Sounds just like one of my cats and it's why I love him so much.
  13. This is almost tempting me to book a holiday just so you can come and stay
  14. Poor little thing! As far as 'how did you manage that?' I ask my Stafford boy that every day when it comes to the extent of the damage he can do when well exercised and only left for a short period. He's a wonder dog at home renovations. :D
  15. Petways pink shampoo! http://www.petshampoos.com.au/ Everything else gives me eczema and I'm not ever really satisfied with the results. This stuff gets whites really bright too and the mild scent lasts for around a week which clients always comment on. Good value for money and lathers up really well, great for either hydro or hand washing. I also love the Master grooming tools. Terrific value for money and they hold up well with professional use. Particularly these: http://www.petedge.com/product/Grooming-To...c/478/47391.uts Fab for easily brushing out knots.
  16. That's what I feed my dogs, one of them used to have terrible skin but showed improvement on that EP after about 2 months.
  17. Contact details? I would like them too please :D
  18. Let us know what you think Gayle. I've been having so much trouble sourcing Eagle Pack lately and the link you've shown is also much better value for money. I would be interested to see what anyone cluey about ingredients, thinks of the food on the link.
  19. Does anyone have a mobile contact for them please? I spoke to the guy just a couple of weeks ago and since then they aren't answering their phone and their web site has shut down. I urgently need them and am worried they aren't in business anymore.
  20. When I bought my Bulldog home my Rotti was terrified of her. She breathed loudly, her eyes bulged and her jaw protruded, permanently showing teeth. He wouldn't go near her and if she went to him to say hello (she loved dogs) he would back away. After a few weeks he learned that she meant no threat and after that he let the Bulldog curl up to sleep on him. They became very good friends. In your case, being both dominant females of quite dominant breeds, I would always separate them when not at home. I am sure though, if the meeting goes well, that they could learn to live together nicely under supervision. I don't think I could ever leave them alone together though. eta: Sorry, should have finished reading the thread, have just seen your post that it's a no go.
  21. That's awful The breeder must be out of her mind with worry. I hope his new home is a long term, loving one. He looks like a gorgeous dog.
  22. Yes, yes and yes. No offence to Danielle's friend, but if she's not even having the pup vet checked then how reliable is her information anyway? Anyone with a clue knows that a dog in pain will often bite, this dog needs to have a thorough vet check yet everyone is immediately jumping to PTS. Sorry Danielle, your friend sounds quite clueless which is why I wouldn't be pushing her to PTS. Keep searching for someone experienced with the breed to at least assess her first, after a vet check of course! Good on you for helping! I know how frustrating this can be as I have been through several similar scenarios with friends before.
