I just wouldn't risk it. I'd find a different breeder with a healthier litter. Weepy eyes and tear stains are a bitch to maintain too, that alone would put me off. You will have a dog for it's lifetime you want it to be sound and not go forward with something which doesn't sit right for you. You should be feeling confident about every aspect of your breeder and it's clear you aren't. Best of luck (and Welcome ).

New Puppy With Small Children? Am I Asking For Trouble?
Clyde replied to vernie's topic in Puppy Chat
I've done it and it's hell. Would you consider an older Lab from a breeder? I suggest a breeder so that you know the dogs history and can search for one who has been raised with kids. -
I think he looks really nice. Staffs aren't supposed to be massive so if that's what your mates have then they haven't got decent looking dogs :D Your dog certainly looks very happy.

Oh dear. Well done and COngrats

What if the OP doesn't want her dog desexed?

Zappy collar now before the poisoner gets it in for you!

They are everywhere around my suburb, rabbits too.

Stay away from anything with blue in their lines.

Oh and Oh to both comments. I have always thought the opposite.

Seems like time was defiant in this case.

Here's the standard of what they *should* look like: http://www.akc.org/breeds/staffordshire_bu...rrier/index.cfm See how it doesn't look massive and over sized? They aren't meant to be a big boofy dog, which sounds as though what your mates have. Chances are none of them are from a reputable registered breeder, if you want a dog to look like the ones in those links then you need to do your research and buy one. Even if your dog is crossed with an AmStaff it can still muscle up - but then again if it's not in his background then he won't. Try to work out how to post pics so we can have a look

Lucky!! I've also had the ID tags on collars get stuck in decking. I came home to find my dog 'glued' to the deck, thank god she was smart enough not to fight it and just lay there til I got home.

18 kgs is good. My bitch is 15kgs so 18 sounds about right to me. From what I gather, muscle is genetic. There is only so much you can do but if the genes 'aint there then that's it! Is he even a pure bred? If you want a muscled dog then you need to buy from lines that muscle up. Head over to the Stafford thread with some pics. IMO this is a nicely muscled Stafford http://www.dogzonline.com.au/breeds/profile.asp?dog=3157 Look at her 3rd pic. Her owner is on here and has better photos showing good muscle. More here: Look for dogs starting with JODEN http://www.dogzonline.com.au/breeds/profil...ype=&state= Do you have any photos of what you would like your dog to look like?

I think I saw a red pup available in QLD on those listings. I would ditch this breeder altogether, what she is saying just doesn't add up. Good luck with your search, I am sure it will be well worth it

It might, but it might not. I'd chat with your breeder about early desexing. See how you go with this trainer and what he thinks. Personally I do believe it takes the edge off them a little but as you can see by the other responses not many others do

Grace how old is your girl? From memory around 7-8 months? I would let her grow some more. I know she's more active than you thought but some Saints are really active despite people commonly believing they are lazy! Perhaps find a trainer near you to give you some tips on how to wear her out mentally

Just the one Aloveen. It's up to you if you use the conditioner or not. The shampoo is quite conditioning on it's own so I wouldn't use it unless your dog is itchy or a bit of dandruff. Although I like to put a bit through the head to make it smell nice. It's also nice to rub a bit through in between baths as a deodorizer. I washed my friend tiny little black Pug puppy (about 12wks) in it yesterday, I just wanted to eat him he smelt so good and is, of course, absolutely adorable

I hate the smell of Fidos Give Aloveen a try, it's a better product so you shouldn't have a problem

This has happened to a few DOL'ers Since a dog I always loved over the net on here died from an accident wearing his collar, mine no longer wear theirs at home.

IMO the only two products which really work for ticks are Advantix and Permoxin. I am in a very heavy tick area... Advantix and Permoxin have the same main ingredient. One is a top spot so you will get that greasy mark, other dogs licking etc and the Permoxin can be made in to a spray, however if using for ticks best to use as a rinse. The Permoxin is very cost effective if bought online. You really need to make sure you get it all over the dogs though - where you miss, a tick can attach. I used to use this a lot, but lost a dog to a tick which attached just under his lower eyelid. Both products should be used with caution around cats.

I recently bought this dryer as a second one at work. I am really impressed with it considering it's price. Your Greys will love that it's heated The ACD will look lovely blow dried and it helps get all the coat out. For personal use, and the breeds you have something simple like this will be more than adequate. I have even been opting to use it over my Oldfield as it's light to hold and easier on my wrist. http://www.petnetwork.com.au/cgi-bin/shopp...;cart_id=385650

Why did the vet clean 'excellent teeth'?

I'm not sure what your budget is but crates are certainly quite expensive in stores. Have you considered buying one online? From memory Vebo Pets have very good prices, I think less than $100 for a crate which will last you a life time. I would definitely re think getting s crate if it means your children won't be at risk of being bitten. I know it's hard with kids but like someone said, dogs aren't toys. We have very strict rules here about pets, no picking them up or annoying them. My daughter knows if she picks up a certain pet she will be scratched/bitten and if she annoys my little Tzu while sleeping she will be nipped.
