Thanks tlc Believe it or not they are just my floorboards. They are a very dark brown. I had him facing the natural light from the window and voila! I'm very new to dslr's and really have no idea what the terms mean (af-s, etc) and don't really understand the difference between a 1.4 and a 1.8 (what does that actually mean?) going by the prices, probably the 1.8 is all i can afford :D but might be able to go halves in the 1.4 for xmas if the 1.8 isn't going to suit my camera.
