I rang to book but he is not taking any new clients :p I got an appointment with his son, Neil. Is he just as good? Or does anybody have any other suggestions? I have two cavaliers. When I was in Sydney I always used to use Peter Schofields who I found really good. Although he is a "greyhound man" he always had lots of little dog clients there when I was waiting. I personally stick with Gary when he is available but would be happy to see Neil if he wasn't. I have 2 Dobermann show dogs, 1 goes to get assessed (7yrs old & has never needed a treatment) and the other has some minor issues I want to keep minor. Neil is a fantastic chiro and to that he has also studied Acupunture and chinese herbology and if needed can always bring Gary in for a 2nd opinion. He really loves what he does and gives wonderful attention to his treatments. I would not hesitate seeing Neil again and find him to be very thorough, gentle & caring when it comes to his assessments and treatment. I definately think you have made the right descision to make the trip out to see the Barnsleys - I find I only need to go there every 6 months as they give me lots of things I can do to keep things in line until the next time we go to see them. My little guy, Ollie, hurt himself yesterday. When we got home from work, he was limping quite badly, holding his front right paw off the ground. He cried when we touched it (he is a big sook anyway). After sitting quiet for about three hours (getting cuddles from his dad ), he got up and walked like nothing was wrong. He is fine today, too. Scout hurt her back and we were told she was OK by the vets, and that she was just being a princess. I knew she wasn't right as no amount of encouragement would get her on to my bed (very rare) So we went and saw Gary, he found her problem right away. We had two consults with him (very reasonable $) and then just had a follow up to make sure all was still OK. Gary wasn't in So Scout saw Neil. OH said he was fantastic, and that he went all the way over Scout, looked at all her joints, flexion, extension etc and didn't just look at the problem area. OH said he took heaps of time with Scout and was just as kind and calm as Gary. Our 12mth old lab loves them both, she is so calm when they treat her, and I put it down to the fact that both men love the animals and are so confident and calm around them. voloclydes Posted June 13, 2009 Share Posted June 13, 2009 i know this is slightly off topic, but did you guys know some human chiro's will do doggies? i have a human one next door and she will do horses and dogs if they come to her house. dogs are allowed to got the surgery and are treated outside. horse one almost always will if you ask. for a horse one go to your local pony club or saddlery store. oh and the benefit of a horse one is they already travel and will come to you! hope this is some help to you! Prices last time I went were $25 for a check or $40 if they need treatment. For some reason my two seem to take turns needing treatment so I usually end up paying for one check plus one treatment a total of $65 for the two of them. Great value for money. I have been going to Gary for over 20 years and he only put his prices up a few years ago from the $15 and $25 they seem to have been forever before that. They are in Wolstenholme Rd, Greendale but you need to book in an appointment as they are always booked ahead. Also if you make an appointment and cannot make it you MUST let them know you are not coming. As they always have people waiting for cancellations they take a very dim view of people who just don't turn up. If you do this to them you may not get an appointment next time you try for one. When I went to my own chiro yesterday and mentioned I was taking Ollie to Neil, he asked why I didn't bring him in I had no idea he did animals. I think I'll stick to someone who specialises in animals, though. Anyway, went and saw Neil today - he was lovely, even though my puppy was a sook the whole time he was being examined. But have been very impressed with Blair. He deals with a lot of greyhound people, which is where we got our recommendation for him. Reasonably priced too.
