Take The Heart Your Dog Survey

Oh dear, I only love my dog 60% - way below the national average.

I guess that's because;

I don't allow my dog to run riot with other dogs - and no it's NOT because I "just don't have enough time"

I don't always sign his name on cards

I don't send him to the grooming parlour - Oh no, I actually brush him, bath him, clean his ears and clip his nails myself ;)

I only take him to the vet when there's a reason

I don't jab him with proheart or pump his body with chemicals that he doesn't need...

The shame.

I suppose good diet, exercise, training and common sense aren't enough.

Well I only heart my dog 85%, but it's not fair because I said I spend more time grooming myself than him, but that's because he doesn't need it. He's a doberman, if he needed more I'd give it to him...

Oh yeah and I don't sign my cards with his name either lol but to be honest, I do often say to family and close friends, me and the pooch miss you etc etc.

Supposedly because I love dobermans, I will also love dalmations, cocker spaniels (seems like if you like any dog you'll like them... not me, they're ugly in my books lol) and wait for it... british bulldogs. I'm not sure how that works, but I can tell you in my case, it's not true at all. I love dobermans, but I also like GSD's, Weim's, rotties and that's about it...

I feel like I just wasted my time, didn't realise until I got to the end was only to promote the yearly heartworm injection. I am not a lesser dog owner because I give tablets, even though they think so.

Agreed. That was where I lost a lot of points - because we give heartworm as a tablet, not an injection. And there's a good reason for that - Akira doesn't LIKE injections, but she is very happy to take her tablet, so we give her that instead.

I couldn't get past the questions re socialising with other dogs. Which we rarely do and it's not because I don;t have time

Same here. None of the options applied. I choose not to socialise my dogs with strange dogs.

Hmm and look at one of the 'breeds' they recommend... ;)

And OMG check this out... Look at the bottom - if you like the Am Staff, you may also like Cocker Spaniels?? Wha?? How do you go from Am Staff to Cocker? LOL!

I hadn't intended to do this survey until I saw this post. :vomit:

ETA: well, they list the labradoodle as a common breed (common as muck but not a breed, thanks). Apparently, collie smooths need a lot of grooming (??). At least, the wheaten showed up on my list.

Agree. My dog even had a reaction to the yearly heartworm injection and I was advised not to give it to him again (not that I needed that advice, I would have chosen not to anyway).

I do find this survey disappointing and compeltely biased and must admit I'm a little disappoionted that it is promoted so much on Dogzonline...

I got 90% How the hell did that happen? I don't think yearly heartworm should rate differently to other treatment options either. We do what we think is the best for our dogs and cover is cover regardless of the method.

I just tried to register and they said my email address is already in use. What the? My email addy is not mainstream so how the hell could that be possible?

Yeah Goldens are the same

"If you Golden Retrievers you may also like Irish Wolfhound, Afgan Hound and Akita" No mention of Labs, the "other perfect family pet"

Yep, it seems to have a set group to match up for the 'if you like this...' section.

Overall we thought it was a pretty poor breed selection site. Suggesting an Akita for someone who was looking at a Golden?!?!? Or to say 'if you like the Dalmatian you may also like the British Bulldog'??!!

Anyways, we voiced our dislike to our Pfizer reps :D

lol, what did they say about that?

Just that he would let them know our concerns. Also pointed out our unhappiness with the Labradoodle listed as a 'breed'.

Doubt much will come of it though!

Apparently the breed selection thing was created by a vet :D

It's an Australian site and it says that Australian Shepherds come in two sizes - standard and miniature! :D

And apparently mini pinschers don't come in red (very common), but do come in chocolate (rare) and blue (extremely rare!!)!

I heart my dogs 85% somehow, and I don't use yearly heartworm injections.

I couldn't get past the first set of questions. :D

We live on a rural block with a 2 acre fenced area so don't walk our dogs daily.

There was no option other than "not walking" your dogs which isn't strictly true in our case.

I did it twice with the same answers with the exception of the yearly heartworm injection and apparently if I change to yearly injection over daily heartworm I score 80% instead of 75%. :D

Seriously I will be sticking to daily heartworm!!!
