How Fussy Is Your Oh Pertaining To Dogs Inside The House

My hubby is extremely fussy, he loves dogs but is adamant that no more than two dogs are allowed in the house, one of them is my 10yo maltese, the fact that she doesn't shed is an added plus, the other is a chihuahua x, she sheds only marginally. He would never allow big dogs in the house. I opened the front door once and another dog waltzed into the house, he saw red ;) . He made a big song and dance about nothing. The dog was inside for a mere few seconds and was then escorted out, no big deal. If he sees a small amount, and I mean...small amount, of dog hair he will bring my attention to it  If I take my maltese or my chihuahua x in the car with me and they leave small paw marks on the windows he points it out to me accompanied by a comment or two. He doesn't like the idea that I give my maltese a tid bit from my plate, he says that she should be eating from her food bowl

Please please tell me what your OH is like?

EDited to say that I don't let the dogs eat directly from my plate but sometimes I will pick a small amount of food and give it to her directly and she eats it off my fingers in a way that my fingers don't touch her mouth at all.

Mine doesn't care and why should he, I'm the one that cleans the place and looks after the dogs.

We have two inside during the day, the two free range Whippets and at night there's 8.

It can be hard to claim a piece of lounge and the corner spot is always popular. You have to trick a dog into getting off and jump in fast

Tell you OH to stick it

I don't have an OH.

That's possibly because I'd never put up with one that wouldn't allow my dogs in the house. :o

There's plenty of them about. You just have to make sure that they don't come with 10 of their own

You could marry me but my Whippedo doesn't like your house for some reason ;)

That is the only thing that I find totally exasperating about him! I like the idea of having someone that is clean but he is a pain when it comes to the issue of dogs in the house. Much to his chagrin.....my maltese sleeps on my pillow most of the time, he hasn't cracked the shits about that though, surprisingly. He must know that that would be akin to

Lucky you! I clean the house, he would help but given that he works full time and I am at home atm, I make it my task to do the chores, that hasn't made an ounce of difference though.

OH and I live on OUR house so OUR rules. Not his and not mine.

This means we've compromised. He doesn't like dogs sleeping on the bed, no problems they have been kicked off. I dont like people farting in the bed, no problems he now goes to the bathroom when he needs to fart.

our dogs are allowed in the house when ever they like whic is 99% of the time. They take all the couch, hog the blanky and heaven forbid if i want a cuddle from OH cause the cocker starts barking at us!!!

I guess I'm lucky.

My OH loves the dogs; he would never dream of having them outside.

And they are both giant sized, and my mastiff cross can be a bit stinky at times.

They are both molting at the moment and i am sweeping it up a couple of times a day. I don't think he has a problem with it.

And like RSG said; why should he? when I'm the one who does most of the cleaning?

the only thing he hates is walking the dogs. But he still does that sometimes too

Mine (OH) is well trained, took a while  My guys (dogs) have always been part of the household, wouldn't have it any other way  That's been big dogs, medium dogs and small ones too, often at the same time. Had a friend here a while back and there were 11 dogs running amok inside and out.

Heh. I've often wondered about this. I've read things about Dog Lovers Falling In Love With Non-Dog Lovers and experiencing Woe but what happens When Dog Lovers Meet And Fall In Love but their respective dogs might not get along at all!?

In our house, I'm actually the fussy one. OH would let the dogs sleep in our bed if he had his way but I have allergies. They're allowed in the house (we deliberately picked laminate over carpet) but they are not allowed on sofa, day bed or in or on our bed.

If your dogs mean that much to you and you want them all inside, do it.

I can't see how or why people live together when they are apparently at opposite poles, when it comes to pet ownership.

It's so much eaier and nicer to love and live with someone who is like minded when it comes to the pets

I go to bed first and OH goes and chooses a dog each night to come and jump on the bed with me. Sometimes he kicks whoever it is out when he comes to bed but most of the time I wake up in the morning, with a dog in my face.

Given that we do get along with just about everything else, if I did put my foot down and had all of my dogs in the house it would spell disastrous, he would be packing his belongings and march away never to be heard of again

Actually, my dogs interviewed my OH for his dog suitability !!!!

he's a messy bugger and I'm a reasonably tidy person, so we have a few issues there !

At the moment its foster kitten city in our house and we are BOTH over it !!!

As long as OH has his little nest on the lounge with his computers, he would'nt notice if the dogs and cats were stacked vertically ten deep in the house !!

took me a couple of husbands to find this one though !

Never mind, he'd just be making way for someone who does love the dogs and would be happy to have them in the house.

;)
