Owners were happy for me to use to hydrobath whenever so when I had time I'd go in early and wash one or two of them then they'd chill in the kennels until I was finished my shift. Beth. Posted February 9, 2011 Share Posted February 9, 2011 I get to take Lottie into work with me when I want - but I work in a vet clinic, so she just gets a run out the back for my shift!! It's so handy as work is now over an hours drive, and I really don't like leaving her out at the house through the night by herself - just don't trust the yard (not her getting out, but other dogs getting in the joys of living where I do!!). It's very nice to be able to, and Lottie doesn't mind at all - and everytime I go to do washing etc she comes outside with me for breaks!! Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I know I could be disciplined, because if it became a choice between housework and work work....work work would win as a great distraction from having to do the housework. Although, before that I used to work from home as I worked for a couple of very small consulting businesses. They had home offices and room for me, but I did one or two days a week at the office and the rest at home. They let me take my dogs to their offices if I wanted to, but I usually found it a bit distracting watching two young hooligans rampaging around someone else's property. They would eventually settle down and come and sleep by my feet, but excited by the new surroundings. It didn't work as well at home, either, because I didn't enjoy the work so much. It was hard to engage and concentrate. It's much easier now that I love what I'm doing, but I'm also the only one taking responsibility for it and I'm a bit more committed to quality. Kavik Posted February 9, 2011 Share Posted February 9, 2011 I had a job where I could have taken the dogs to work with me (dog daycare) but preferred to leave them home as that way I could concentrate on my work better and not stress about what they were doing (and they wouldn't have really liked it there anyway). Some other staff members did bring their dogs to work - the boss always did. From what I saw it did not make for a more peaceful day at work The only day I brought one in was when we were having the fences done and I only brought Kaos as he was only a puppy and I didn't want to leave him crated in the house all day like the others. jacqui835 Posted February 9, 2011 Share Posted February 9, 2011 I would do anything to be able to take my dog to work with me But I work in a huge building in the CBD and have meetings with clients and colleagues all day so I can see how it would be difficult. I plan to work super hard though, make lots of money and retire at 40 lol and start a hobby farm Poochy just needs to live for another ~20 years and all will be sweet. I do the night shift and often on my lonesome so I make the excuse that they act as deterrent when I get unsavoury clients rocking up unannounced. Lots of co-workers bring their dogs in also. Its probably a good thing as lots of people in my dept have a dog- it'd be bedlam. Last year I did a temp contract for a PR company and the boss sometimes brought in her puppy - it was so cool! So my dream is still lingering - maybe one day it'll come true. Bjelkier Posted February 10, 2011 Share Posted February 10, 2011 When I was working at the vet practise I took the dogs with me every day, at the hearing clinic I would bring them in on occasion, the clients just loved them. I now work from home so they are alwasy with me. How do you get a job working from home? Currently I am doing two things, I manage a horse property (which I also live on) and I also do online marketting for a touring company. Embellish Posted February 10, 2011 Share Posted February 10, 2011 I bring my whippy to work every day, her crate fits nice and snug under my desk - she is in there now, upside down, legs spread out, fast asleep - she has been in there since 9am! It has been great for socialising, she is now 6 months old and as bold as brass. She has doggy friends here at work consisting of an Aussie Shep, Kelpie, Terrier X, Aust Terrier, and various clients dogs, cats, horses, alpaca's etc (yes, I work in a large veterinary hospital). I have a very wonderful boss who adores my dogs and is happy for them to be here because they are so well behaved! They almost always make an appearance at Christmas time every year on the last day too because I go on holidays straight from work. I run my own buisness and 95% of our clientelle are phone/internet, and we ship all our product. so the amount of people we get come into the office is pretty minimal and all the packing etc is downstairs. so I dont have a problem with myself or staff bringing their pet to work. About once a week one of the girls who works for me, her hubby comes into have lunch with her and will bring along one of their cats for a visit. I usually only take one dog at a time though, then its their special day out with me (I take them for a walk at lunch etc) cause it would be a bit much for all three at once and I do have to spend some time paying attention to work Pets just make your day better! I'm a programmer also and have finally scammed my way into being allowed to work from home one day a week (Friday being the bonus!!)
