Maxiewolf Posted June 7, 2011 Share Posted June 7, 2011 Well this has been an interesting morning I must say. By Interesting I mean totally boring. Been standing here at work with nothing going on and we hear this dog barking, a woman brought this dog up the ramp from the carpark and proceeded to tie the dog to a chair... INSIDE the shopping centre... and leave it alone there for at LEAST 20 minutes. There are signs on the door that say Guide Dogs Only. Update: The cleaner waited for the lady to come back to her dog, and politely explained that dogs other than guide dogs where not permitted in the centre. The response from the owner "Well He's my Guide dog" And the cleaner asked would it be possible for her to tie him up outside in the future "He doesn't like the sun" OKay... I myself have been struck by the oh I just quickly need something, while im out walking... but I WONT get it if I have to tie Brutus up in a position, where 1. I cant see him. 2. Cant reach him within 3 steps If I have to and 3. If the whole fiasco is going to take more than a minute and I dont make a habit of it cos Im just too affraid of what someone would do to him.... i hate people sometimes. I have no idea why he was allowed to have his dog inside the mall-- it was not a service dog of any sort ( well if it was it had no identification to say it was). The first time there was a young boy with a bird on his shoulder and the second time a lady was carrying a tiny puppy, it was her last day with the puppy so she wanted to spend as much time with it as possible! Though I guess a baby joey isnt the kind of thing you can "tie up" and come back to and their argument would be "Sign on the door doesnt say no native wildlife." I used to do the parrot on the shoulder thing when I was a kid. Even took him to the movies. Was only in later years that peoples attitudes really started to get more negitive towards animals in places. Mind you most common place I used to go with the bird was Miranda Fair in Sydney.. I think most people just assumed Id just bought the bird from the PP downstairs or something. I always wondered how the "no dogs" in a big shopping centre worked when there was a PP in there. Quite often youd see people with a puppy they had just gotten walking around. Course if they didnt just get it from there they could always say they did. Greytmate Posted June 7, 2011 Share Posted June 7, 2011 It's only food shops where it is unlawful to take dogs. Every other shop or shopping centre is at the manager's discretion. Huntia Posted June 7, 2011 Share Posted June 7, 2011 A few weeks ago I went into a shopping mall and someone had left there poodle at the door, inside, and it wasn't tied up at all!! It was there for over 1/2 an hour in the same spot, as I took at least that long in there. I admired its "stay" ability but couldn't help thinking that no way would I leave my dog a) unattended or b) not tied up for that long unattended!! The other week I took Phi for a walk and had to drop a video back to video ezy so she came inside for 10 seconds while I put it in the slot. I took her into the Hyperdome (major shopping centre near my mums place) when she was a puppy like 9-10 weeks old as we were picking up my nephew but just inside the doors about 20 metres. I used to walk around the shopping centre with my friends python LMAO I think everyone thought it was fake! I don't make it a regular thing, but one time I combined walking her with going to the bottle shop, so we popped inside l ong enough to grab a bottle and pay, and I carried her. At the 7-11 I was driving somewhere with her in the car and needed fuel. I walked her to the door, picked her up and went in and paid. Both times she was inside for maybe 30 seconds. The staff members didn't care. I don't really have a problem with dogs being inside anywhere, as long as it's not a food place and the dog is well behaved. I wouldn't personally tie my dogs up anywhere and leave them unattended, but I have often wished I could take them into the shopping centre with me. Be nice socialisation for them. I sometimes see people carrying small dogs around in their purses/bags at the shopping centre, and it doesn't bother me at all. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I work in a museum and they always say "but we are just going to the cafe" Sorry, no dogs at all on the premises.(except for guide dogs ect) "But we are going to sit outside" Once again, outside is counted as part of the premises. "But we wont be in the museum, we are just walking through to go outside" What part of not allowed in the whole complex with their dog are they missing? " I was carrying him so he wasn't even touching the ground so it's not like he is even in the museum" Argh!!!!!!!!!! It is always little fluffy things as well. Several times people have tried to hide them in backpacks! Maybe people with bigger dogs dont treat them as babies that must be taken everywhere with them? I would not be surprised if those with little fluffy dogs take offence to your comment about 'little white fluffy things.' She'd left her dog in the car with all the windows up and customers coming into the store were telling staff. It is overcast and not hot today, but still it wasn't the right thing to do.
