No strangers, no sitting and something new with no high excitement attached? Probably no one in SA doing it yet but you have paved the way in other sports before. ness Posted June 4, 2013 Author Share Posted June 4, 2013 (edited) Not sure Jumabaar - her reward structure is pretty much toy focused which doesn't obviously make it easy either. In part through training structure but if I use food as a "reward" she quickly disengages in favour of finding twigs or whatever she can get her paws on. I am not quite sure where tug and toys fits in the hierarchy of what she can do. And the other problem is "training" quickly = high excitement. I am suppose to be allowed to do cavaletti's with her but she can't seem to come at doing those at any speed other than warp speed. She was such a sweet pup and I remember how excited you were to get her, with plans to compete in all your favourite dog sports. ness Posted June 6, 2013 Author Share Posted June 6, 2013 A good session today = we finally seemed to have a breakthrough and she seems to be double stepping much less in her hind end. By her third session she was in cruise mode and I think could have kept going much longer. She was bored the minute we got home and wanting to do stuff . I'm not sure if tracking works differently in Australia, but in NZ the only stranger involvement in tracking is the judge and track layer following along behind to make sure she is tracking ok (and it's way further away than what an obedience or rally judge is). Of course they follow a strangers scent too, but there is no need for a stranger to get within 5 metres of your dog at a tracking trial here... Sigh she was in the front hallway about 15 minutes ago just walking and ended up I think luxating them both. She wasn't just three legging she was almost only on front end only and then went mega sooky and ended up in my lap on the floor . ness Posted June 11, 2013 Author Share Posted June 11, 2013 Kenz had another session today. She seems to be making improvements but we are little frustrated with the amount she is allowed to do. It seems to take some time before she settles and no sooner does she get settled then her session is over. Its like she just gets the momentum happening and starts walking properly and then its the end of her third short session. 9 minutes seems like bugger all and she is sooooo feral when we finish up.
