I used WD40 and had a little bottle of it in my grooming box. I would spray, take the tape off, and then soak up the spray that was left with potato flour. Had to be careful with the black dog or she would end up with silver ears

Anyone With A 'large, Trained' Dog Want Some Movie Work?
Rysup replied to FranVT's topic in General Dog Discussion
My Keeshond boys can look real menacing. I'd offer the Amstaff but again, same deal as the Dobes & Rotties. Not the best thing to do. -
Cant say I have either but they look the part. I have two Liberty brand dryers - 1 stand and 1 barrel.

Looks a lot like Daddy

If you dont groom a coat, it will become thicker/woollier and dull. Start with a good bath and groom, and add some oils to the diet.

My dog has allergies that showed up as poor coat condition. Now I have removed the allergens, his coat is improving. Thicker/woolly sounds more like a grooming issue though.
-
It was not a skin allergy, but rather he had chronic diarrhea, could not hold any body weight, and his coat went red (on the bits that should be black). We have fixed the poop issue, the body weight is coming back, and the red is slowly (very slowly) changing back to black.

If it was my dog, I would trim the tube back a little, especially if it rubs on the collar. Our boy didnt need a collar on, so it wasnt a problem for him.

When I used Artemis, I fed the guide amount and my poor dog ended up skin and bones. I then doubled the dose and he got the runs so bad, it wasnt funny. Now he gets about 1 1/2 - 2 cups of Nutro, and a handful of roo/lamb/beef mince. He is gaining weight nicely (slowly) and should be a nice weight soon. He is a VERY active dog. Doesn't stand still.

I think the drainage tubes on our Amstaff were pretty long....let me check the photos for you. ETA - Ok his stuck out about 1 inch each end, roughly. Maybe trim them back a bit, they dont need to be THAT long surely?

You really are not going to know unless you do some sort of elimination diet. I did my own one on Harry, and found its chicken & wheat that upsets him. His just comes out slushy the other end, he isnt a big vomiter.

A Good And Proper Budget Dry Food/kibble?
Rysup replied to biscuit_the_golden's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
All of my show dogs (except one) are fed on a variety of dry foods. This week they are getting Coprice, last week it was Great Barko. I mix it up because they tend to get "bored" by the end of the bag. I use 20kgs a week, and could not possibly afford to feed 9 dogs on a super premium food. The one exception is Harry, who is allergic to chicken and wheat. You cannot get a lower priced food without either of these two ingredients. So Harry gets Nutro Lamb & Rice. One 15kg bag of that lasts about 6 - 8 weeks. I have found that it does not make a lot of difference on what food I feed. Their condition does not change much. Except some are good for putting on weight, and some are good at taking it off. You just need to watch your weights. I have also raised puppies on Great Barko with great success. I do not think it is always necessary to use a puppy food, as most adult foods have plenty enough of the stuff puppies need. Of course before 8 weeks they are on different foods, but they still get adult dry available to them. People just need to try different things and work out what works for them. An awful lot of my friends use ProPlan but I wont touch the stuff with a ten foot poll. Some for good reasons, and some for personal reasons. What I feed works for my guys. And I have three different breeds - Lhasa Apsos, Keeshonds & one Amstaff with a gigantic appetite! -
I like #1 All Systems Whitening & Brightening Shampoo. Also use Sards on stains.

If I recall correctly, the price difference between the small bags (3kgs?) the middle bags (8kgs) and the large bags (15kgs) wasnt proportionate. I only ever bought the 8kg bag when there were no 15kg bags left. I stock up when I find it on sale - currently the $20 off promo is great. Petbarn also often has it on sale.

Nutro is the only dry food I will feed my allergic boy. He is doing great on it. We tried lots before we got to this one too.

They hump things too you know! I have one who cant wait for bed, coz she likes to hump it rather vigourously!!

I've always just signed for other people. Put "per and sign your name".

Just watch the dam for mastitis if her boobs are warn and firm. Give them a good massage a few times a day to keep the milk moving and make sure the pups drink from the sore ones. If you want to supplement, I cannot recommend Wombaroo more highly. It saved my last litter.

Great Rugs would be my first port of call - they are at shows, or have a website http://www.greatrugs.com.au/ You *may* need to request vinyl covering but I have seen them before.

Huge Congrats!!

The compost cages from Bunnings are a unanimous hit around here Ishy. The come in 4 panels, and are cheap, so buy two and you would have a very roomy puppy pen.

Women Injured And Animals Killed In Overnight Fires (caboolture Qld)

It's great to see you are on the mend Jed. Did the laptop from Ker not work out? I have had all good experiences with Dell, and these days you can buy them through Office Works if you want, which can be easier at times. But having said that, we bought our laptop from Harvey Norman on interest free. I guess the one good thing about shopping in store is that you can haggle for a better deal. Keep healing! -
Yep I agree Sir WJ - some of the sizes appear to have sold out!

I need some new ones for the car, but the XXXL size is too big and the Large is too small. Poo. I need 58 x 58 x 80 (approx) and that size is not on there anymore. Have bought from them before, and they are very good. I need new zipper in one of mine from NFS and was quoted "from $40" to replace them. For $40 I could buy a whole new one on Top Buy, but it wont fit with my show gear in as well. What to do, what to do.
