  1. We use Isle of Dogs where I work and for the most part I am very impressed. I have yet to try them on my own dogs. They do samples of some of the products. Where I work is the importer, so PM me if you want more info. I tried Pure Paws whitening shampoo last weekend on Harry's butt and I am in LOVE with the smell, and it did a nice job overall. Did not take out all the stain he has (from sitting in his pee) but I think it might after a few goes. And I would never trash a product after using it once. Once is not enough generally, to know if a product will work. Not saying its not the wrong product for your dog Snag, but and this is a big but, you have to realise that the people selling the IOD products are not show people, and are only going by what they are told from the manufacturer.
  2. I have returned a puppy that came from a fellow breeder. He and I never bonded and I just could not get my head around it, so we send him back.
  3. She really needs to spend some time with some breeds to tell. I find Keeshonds very low allergy, but it varies depending on the person.
  4. All the "runts" I have had have all made size in the end. In fact when I pick out my Lhasa puppies, I tend to go for the smallest, as I know they will be correct sized where as the others may get too big.
  5. Yeah if they forgot to send it off, whos to say they didnt also forget to store it properly. I'd be asking for a re-draw.
  6. Oh yay having to microchip tiny tiny toy breed puppies. I have been wishing though that they would add the breeder as a contact for years and years. We've had to microchip since 1998, and still there is no place to put the breeder as a permanent contact.
  7. They key to any gazebo that does not have the supports for the mid section of the sides (so anything not "deluxe") is to tie down the centre parts when its windy. I have not lost a gazebo to wind yet with this method. The sides of any normal gazebo will bend and flex in strong winds and its these areas that they tend to give way. So a rope around the middle, pegged to the ground, provides extra support. There was a man going around promoting the Altegra at Spring Fair. He said they have a compact deluxe, which sounded great, just a bit out of my price range. My gazebos at present are from Super Cheap Auto. They are just the right size to fit across the back of my wagon without having to drop seats down.
  8. I know you've probably tried everything I did for my boy. Its so frustrating. I am so glad I have finally found a combination of things that works for Harry. He gets a handful of the Aldi Dog & Cat Mince (big bag) which says it can be lamb, kangaroo and/or beef. (No chicken). I mix a cup or two of Nutro Lamb & Rice through the mince. He is eager to eat it every meal, and it's firmed him up amazingly!! It is clear to me that he does not tolerate chicken or wheat. I have trouble with treats, because they will give him the runs. At home he does not get treats. But I need to use food at shows, so have been trying duck and fish treats, but I still sometimes get a mild reaction to those.
  9. I probably used the wrong term, but really a hell of a lot of breeds started out as "designer dogs" somewhere along the line. UKC recognises a LOT of breeds that may never get ANKC nor AKC approval. AKC recognition is the one that "counts" as far as showing is concerned.
  10. Only thing I can suggest is you try different brands until you find one that is easy on your pocket and that suits your dog. Some companies will send out samples to try. I feed Nutro, Uncle Albers & Great Barko for the most part.
  11. I'd love to take part. Guess it's just a matter of when I have a litter and what I keep. I always keep at least 1, but I dont have litters that often. I think the whole concept is very exciting, and I cannot understand why anyone would be sensitive about it unless they have temperaments that they are subconsciously worried about.
  12. Not always about breathing. I am friends with some BB breeders and their dogs are fit, healthy, they dont die when it gets over 25 degrees, and they have free whelpers. Some of the BYB BBs you see have excessively undershot jaws, extremely narrow hips etc etc. You can get a top quality dog without compromising on health. And I never said they were unethical (did I?). They started out as Designer Dogs being bred away from the BB standard. Clearly for a purpose of some sort. Not my call to say why, each to their own and all that jazz
  13. Sure are! And when you see BYB bred British Bulldogs vs Show Ring BB's then it is probably even more confusing.
  14. Breed Lectures can be attended by anyone in NSW too. I am not a puppy farmer. But my dogs are all outside, in kennel runs, and have kennels in the garage. I breed, on average, once every 5 years. So clearly I am not a farmer LOL To me, a puppy farmer is someone who breeds regularly with no clear purpose other than an income source. They dont health test for anything within their breed. They provide the bare minimum of care that is legal, but thats about it. They certainly dont show, or trial, or compete in any other dog sport at all. They do ALL these things, not just one. There are a lot of "volume" breeders out there, but as long as they provide quality care, health test, compete in a dog sport, then I dont have a (major) problem with that.
  15. English & British are exactly the same thing. Just people dont know the proper name for the breed. Australian Bulldogs and American Bulldogs are two totally separate "breeds", and neither are recognised by the ANKC at this time. They are not recognised because they are cross breeds. Designer breeds. Someone out there decided the British Bulldog needed changing, and rather than trying to do that within the breed, they went away from that.
  16. Where I work the standard base rate for a clip, bath, blowdry is $75 for small dogs, plus extra charges for matts or fleas, and $40 for a bath, blowdry.
  17. You cant find a vet who does faster prog test turn around? My bitch never looked pregnant, and in fact I had decided she wasnt. Until she started nesting, so took her for ultrasound, to find one live puppy, and a few "black holes".
  18. Yep check prog levels. I have had a bitch reabsorb all bar one puppy. We thought she'd reabsorbed the lot, so were not prepared AT ALL!
  19. You dont have a bird in the house do you puggerup? Your symptoms sound a lot like mine, except mine were caused by birds.
  20. Mine is not a puppy thing. But this year I have two dogs get to record old age (for me) and its scary! They sleep like they are dead, one has gone deaf, the other blind and I think somewhat deaf now, and they sleep a lot! So I often have to go and poke them now and then. Once I got home really late and so the dogs were all still out in their day yards in the dark. I let them in, and Holly did not come. I am in a panic, she must have died during the day or something. No use calling, she cant hear. So I track down a torch and go hunting. She has made herself a hole in the dirt, and is curled up in there. I think, OMG she is dead! I poke her gently. Nothing. Panic rising. Shake her gently this time. She jumps up and runs into bed! Talk about having a heart attack! Firstly thinking she is dead, and then when she bolts off to bed!
