Nope haven't heard of any. I like the sound of them though.

I think the thing is we here are pretty much dog nuts. We might go to work and have a fit about some off lead dog that jumped on our on lead dog in an on lead area. Chances are we will be met with blank looks. We might have pounced on people outside pet shops and ranted about puppy farms. Some innocent person might have asked us a question about training fido and got a 2 hour lecture. We have spent ages being 'weird'. Here we can go on these rants and other members get it. That is a big relief. I'm on a horse forum, for some reason pretty much every dog subject shits me to tears because the majority of people there don't get it. Ranting on here doesn't mean people aren't actually educating either. Sometimes it is just nice to bitch with like minded people. Of course if no one agrees with me, I am the only nutter!

Amber is now 10 months old. I was one of the original waiting for a puppy posters and had a lovely time re-reading that thread last night. Here she is at 8 weeks: And now at 10 months:

Should You Go To Obedience Even If You Find It Boring?
JulesP replied to aussielover's topic in General Dog Discussion
I enjoy learning so I don't find obedience classes boring. My dogs like hanging out with Mummy so they don't tend to get bored either. If I didn't like classes then I would find a school with classes I did like. -
Don't think they are fluffy enough for Aussies. Could be merle to merle coolies though.

Are you using MSM as the sulfur? I have been using Zyrtec on my dogs this Spring.
-
Lots more great results! Congrats everyone

I can't remember ever telling my old girl Fern off. She was super well behaved. Brock is a great pet and I doubt anyone would have any issues with him. Manners wise he is pretty perfect. Fails totally as a sporting dog though.

Well done! I've had my fingers crossed for you after our stay discussion!

Did you notice this last night? Sorry couldn't resist!

Baltimore Police Dog Training Video
JulesP replied to huski's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
It looks like the dog is trying to get someone outside of the video shot. When the handler holds the dog back it mouths him. It isn't pleasant to watch but I am thinking the guy is more traumatized by it then the dog. -

Do you ask the people that were next to you if their dogs were rock solid Ptolomy? -
New Obedience & Tracking Rules
JulesP replied to TerraNik's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
SmoothieGirl if a dog jumped on Poppy in the stays I doubt I would be able to get her back in the ring. So I would be totally pissed off. Nothing to do with me being a nutty DOLer. -
I think mine is to do with fear of failure. Last herding trial I decided I wanted 1 pass. Got the pass. As I walked in for my second run, my instructor told me to enjoy myself as I already had the pass I wanted. Everything pretty much went perfectly and I got a really high score and won the ring! Are you putting pressure on yourself because you so badly want to prove that a beagle can be competitive?
-
Yep that is what happens to me. We will be going along and Poppy might go wide or something and I lose the plot. The people at club have been trying to help but it is just getting worse. For some mental reason I am OK at the mid-week evening run throughs. The only real difference is the ring isn't up!
-
Huski I am exactly the same. Can do public speaking no worries, but can't even walk in a trial ring. Can't even walk in a trial run through! Have very sensitive dogs so their work really suffers. It has me fairly baffled too. I did suffer trying to compete with the horses too. I sort of freeze and almost blank out totally. I can then feel the dog go 'Mummies gone' and zone out and then I panic more. Very frustrating as Poppy is pretty good.

Should I get a lead longer that 750mm then? If you want to trial next year I would be. You want a nice loop in the lead so that you aren't pulling on the dog in the SFE.
-
The new rule for stand for exam (coming in next year) is that you need to be 750mm away from the dog so that is going to effect lead length. You don't want the lead to be tight.

Dry Food That Does Not Contain Wheat, Corn Or Soy?
JulesP replied to Erny's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
The Black Hawk or Holistic puppy has wheat in it if you are trying to avoid wheat. -
Wellness is the brand. Yes owned by Wellpet.
-
I've had some overseas mates rave about Wellness foods, don't suppose you know if that is available here Sagittarian?
-
Normal a super premium kibble in the morning and raw at night. Newest dog is hating kibble though so I might have to go all raw.

Dry Food That Does Not Contain Wheat, Corn Or Soy?
JulesP replied to Erny's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Erny my fussy pup ate 3 bags of Maximal really happily and today she looked at me like I was poisoning her! Very frustrating. -
I call my pup back heaps whilst she is playing, give her lots of pats and then send her off again. I think it is important to show the dog that a recall doesn't always mean that the fun is over.
