  1. With this in herding and agility the way I have been taught is to lure the behaviour in some way and then start naming it. So if you didn't want to send the dog to a target you could chuck something to the left and send the dog after that and name it left. Herding I have just used body position to encourage the direction. Agility I stood behind the dog and used treats to get the dog to turn in that direction. It is the dog's left normally btw. So if the dog happened to spin and face you then you would need to send him right to get movement to your left. The US herding instructor I went to said she had seen people use a toy or something on a long pole to lure the directions.
  2. You add boiling water, wait a couple of mins and then add meat to it. VAN is soaked for 24 hours.
  3. Here you go - http://www.browns-animal-herbals.com.au/43-natural-dog-food
  4. Ok what is needed here is some rescue remedy.....for the owner! Sorry I know how distressing it is when something is wrong with the pets. Lucky your dog didn't like the pre mixed VAN as it is rather expensive! Look on the bright side. I haven't fed the VAN porridge stuff buy have used a similar product called Phuds. It is available from Brown's Herbal. They could probably custom make something for you if needed.
  5. Did you feed the VAN that has meat etc in it? Pre mixed? Very sloppy weird looking stuff? lol. All my dogs scoffed it down no problems.
  6. I was buying it from Discount Pet supplies on Warby Highway in Lilydale. They also have the Lysterfield store. Last time I went in they didn't have any though.
  7. Zyrtec helped my pup recently with an allergy. That plus neocort cream. And pulling up the patch of wandering jew that the silly animal was using to rub off the neocort cream.... In both my contact allergy cases I found a bit of stalking of said animal very useful to work out what was causing the problem.
  8. EP Holistic Salmon and Anchovy has been unavailable for ages - mine used to love it. Tried that a couple of weeks back. Purchased from Lilydale Petstock.
  9. Petstocks can be franchises. I haven't noticed a problem with EP over here. My Petstock usually has good supplies. The power version is the only one I've had trouble getting.
  10. I get mine from Discount Animal Supplies on Warby Highway Lilydale. It is usually under $100.
  11. My local petstock had some sort of problem with Nutro and decided not to stock it. They only carry a couple of bags of Lamb & Rice now. They reckoned it was something to do with supply. Not convinced of that though as it happened about the time that they really started to push EP.
  12. I haven't had the puke problem with my barf bath. My other advice would be to buy a bath from your state. Much easier if something goes wrong.
  13. Are snakies out and about in Vic yet? It is still sooo cold.
  14. Yep you use your hot water in the bath tank. Then use the hose directly to rinse off, not using the bath at all. If you used fresh water in the bath tank then it would get soapy too quickly for a good rinse off.
  15. I cried and one of my borders rushed in to see if I was Ok, which made me cry worse. I don't mind Chris. It is not his fault he is cute, lol. The female vet on the show gives me the shits.
  16. As an instructor I spew when people turn up when it is pouring! You only get a handful too so have to reteach everything the next week anyway.
  17. I have one of the Barf baths. It does take ages for the water to heat up, a good 30 mins. If you are washing a couple of dogs one straight after the other then the water doesn't reheat. My element also broke after about 6-8 washes. I was not impressed with their service. Apart from that the bath is good, lol. I would get a non heated one and use the house hot water if I was doing it all again. It does seem to be the hardest thing in the entire world for me to get hot water outside! Lots of huffing from plumbers who can't see the need for hot water to wash dogs.
  18. I think it has a funny smell too. Sort of plasticy or something.
  19. ;) I played the hide the cookie game last week with my border collies. Amber and Poppy - no interest what so ever in walking over and getting the cookie in plain sight. OMG. Brock was actually the best (he is a bit special). He actually hunted for the cookie with lots of sniffing, mind you the cookie was in plain sight and he watched me place it! I don't think any of mine would lift a tea towel off.
  20. Me too Mas1981! Burgers are thine enemy! Lol I am a vego so my 'burgers' are usually a cheese burger with no meat and no pickles!
  21. Glad to read she is feeling a bit better ;)
  22. Oh goodness, that is hilarious! Thanks for sharing! Congrats on the great scores too Ptolomy and Soggy Bear's debut
  23. I've wimped out on night training for the last couple of months. Have gone to every Sunday training session though regardless of the weather. Our ground is just gross at the moment so it hasn't been much fun squishing through the mud.
