  1. I always try yelling my dogs names. Need a name that you can yell, for a long recall of course
  2. Looks like she will have to keep her original name! teehee
  3. Glad it worked out I met pup yesterday and she is super cute!
  4. I've just used Phuds for my pup that didn't want to eat. It is sort of like Vets All Natural but a finer texture. They can probably take out an ingredient if it doesn't suit your dog. http://www.browns-animal-herbals.com.au/43-natural-dog-food.
  5. Give Pet Network a call. I've always found them very helpful with shampoo help. :D
  6. She might even be past the bleeding stage. My entire bitch never had a lot of blood though. I used to wipe her with a white tissue to see what was going on. Don't panic but do keep her well locked away.
  7. I wonder if your dog has pica? That condition were they eat strange things.
  8. Yeah tried mixing stuff in the kibble. Got her Natures Gift because that is softer. She is eating it again but one piece of kibble at a time and she doesn't look too happy about it. She had some Phuds and meat last night. Phuds is like Vets All Natural. Fish for Dogs has been going down ok but even the NG tinned food must be a bit hard to chew as she is dropping that out of her mouth.
  9. I tried soaking the kibble when it started but she was obviously in the eating hurts stage and wouldn't touch it. She was eating her lamp off cuts but was spitting the bone out. I've got some of that in the freezer so I'll try her on it. She was on the light weight side of normal and lost stacks of weight just in those few days. Luckily she kept drinking.
  10. Depends on your training philosophy If I tell mine to do something that I know they understand and they decide not to do it then I physically put them in the position. I usually have to only do this once. I never let my dogs not do something I tell them. This is for stuff around the house. In obedience training they rarely don't do what I ask. Probably because of how strict I am at home. I am careful about what I ask too. They hate baths and go running when they see me getting the bath ready. So I don't call them I go find them. I would be careful about a stay command too. Don't want that being devalued.
  11. Has anyone had a pup that really struggled with teething? I just had Amber refuse to eat for a couple of days for no apparent reason. No vomiting or diarrhea just not eating. The only thing that showed on the xrays was a bit of gas. I mentioned to the vet that I was thinking it was her teeth as she was picking up her kibble and dropping it out of her mouth. She looked very much like a horse that needed its teeth done. Nothing looked amiss in her mouth though. She is eating again but still struggling with kibble. She is also going nuts chewing now. I just looked in her mouth and the gum just near her teeth looks a bit red. I know you can give them frozen things but not sure if she would chew on them. Can you give a dog bonijel? I've never had a dog react like this before, usually don't even notice teething. She was so sad I thought she was going to die early this week!
  12. I had to leave Amber for xrays this week and walked out crying! So sooky. I would have had hysterics if I had heard "I'm sorry" when I called.
  13. Pro Plan Sensitive has an animal fat in it but they don't actually say from what animal.
  14. A pancreatitis condition isn't an allergy issue though and wrong feeding could make your dog really sick. Not worth the risk IMO. Kangaroo is lean but as I said is a high protein meat and I *think* that protein also needs to be limited as well as fat. I did a protein search and it is higher in protein then the meats you are feeding. I would amend the title to say that your dog has pancreatitis and then people with dogs with pancreatitis will come in and let you know if they can feed kangaroo.
  15. Kangaroo is a meat that is low in fat but is quite high in protein. I would check with the vet before trying. Low fat would be good but not sure about the protein.
  16. Can anyone remember a Aussie product that has been recalled? I can't. I questioned the wheat in particular in the Watch & Grow food and they reckon their wheat is ok because it is Australian grown and that allergy problems come from OS wheat that has been fumigated and irradiated.
  17. My personal view is that grains are only bad if they make up the bulk of the food or your dog has an allergy to them.
  18. I've just had a puppy with an upset tummy. The only thing I could get her to eat was Dine Desire cat food. I tried to find something smelly for her. Not sure how that would go with a pup as sick as yours though. I picked the Dine as it was pretty much just fish and I didn't have any sardines in the house.
  19. I don't think it is a matter of being an experienced owner but rather being a good owner
  20. Found this Australian company - http://www.watchandgrowpetco.com.au/Premiu...rtframe=dogfood Not super impressed with the ingredients though as has a lot of grains in it plus has the meat and/or by products. They obviously didn't research what a holistic dog feeder wanted! Nature's Gift still has to be my first choice for a true Australian kibble, even with the wheat in it. They put the wheat into to bind the kibble. Said they would need different machines to make a kibble without something to bind it. At 70% meat it is higher than Evo.

  22. I've harassed pet reps before about corn gluten. They say that it is the easily digestible bit of the corn. I harassed a Pro Plan rep about grains in pro Plan and she said that according to their studies dogs need carbs. She said to write into Pro Plan if you want something different. Catherine.b have you looked at Artemis? They have a grain free version. Not Australian but that doesn't seem to be something you are worried about.
  23. How about a sheet of clear perspex to cover the gaps in the palings? That way the dogs can see out and it should last longer than the shade cloth.
  24. I got a soggy rotti in the lap this morning! Dude you have a correction chain on - use the damn thing. Lucky I didn't have my very protective dog with me or it would have been on.
  25. Pets not people Dory! I am grumpy that I end up feeling like a bitch as I have to tell people to get away from my potentially contagious pets. And I don't want mine catching things from their pets either.
