Jolly good that is why I have been to the vets 3 times in the last month. Currently a vet visit is not required.

Poppy is 100% sound. I just gave her a bath and not one wince anywhere. I said that she would be going to the vet on the first page if I didn't see an improvement. I came back and said that there was an improvement. But people had to keep going. And then there were the comments about my dogs attacking child on ponies, people making it sound like the dogs were running wild chasing horses and comments about the pony. This has been a truly eye-opening experience for me on forums. I have been a member for a long time and would think that people would know me well enough not to react they way they have. When I saw that people were still posting today I made some obviously silly comments. Obvious enough that I am amazed that anyone took me seriously. It wasn't even about me busting to go to the clinic. I didn't want to muck the organizer around. As it is the dog is fine and running around. Had the dog not looked better the next day she would have gone to the vets. Again the dog is fine. I am however not.

What is it with border collies and standing! Everyone of mine has acted like I am trying to kill them whilst luring into a stand! And they just don't appear to 'get it' for ages.
-
Poppy is still quite lame but as I paid a heap of money for the clinic I will just give her an aspirin on the day and she should be right.

Dont need to tell me that, lol, my super quiet, trustworthy, reliable old gelding near on killed me on Sunday. Riding him at a canter, he busts into a gallop and started bucking like a wild bronco! LOL! Poor old me sailed thru the air and landed hard on my hip. Havent been able to walk properly since.....lol, hubbys been trying to get me to a dr all this week...unsucessfully of course! Sounds like you are feeding him too much. Perhaps you should look into that. I prefer to keep my pony by himself as he is a valuable show pony and I dislike him playing with other horses. It is a worry with all the rugs he wears. I wouldn't want a hood being pulled over his eyes. I do put boots on him but still I worry. He is only out in the paddocks for a little while as he is usually in the stable.

Yep sounds like your experience is totally irrelevant

OMG this is getting ridiculous! I suppose if a child rode its pony in MY GARDEN it might get ugly. The dogs can't get in the pony paddock. I was in a different paddock from the pony with the dogs (the dogs never go in the same paddock as the pony). I saw a tree down, squashing a fence in the pony's paddock and bolted to lock pony in the yard. I should have put the dogs back in the garden but the pony was eating in the stable at the time. He galloped out of the stable, through a yard to get to us. Highly unusual for him to leave his food. The dogs didn't chase him. They ran in and dropped to the ground in herd position. Unfortunately he was up in the air at the time. He came down, tried to avoid Poppy but just got her. I told them to get out and they did. Whilst out walking they do not chase horses. Pony is currently alone as his companion just got put down so thanks for those don't keep pony alone comments. For anyone that actually cares Poppy is fully weight bearing today.

When Do You Retire A Dog From Agility
JulesP replied to RallyValley's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I retired my border collie from obedience after a leg break as I didn't want her jumping in that. It does sound like Toby is trying to tell you something by refusing. I pulled another border collie out of agility as I felt that she was struggling to jump 500. She was on the border between 400 & 500. People thought I was being a sook but I could see she wasn't happy. -
No More Nutro Senior, So What Are Your Recommendations?
JulesP replied to harley's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
You could try Pro Plan or Eagle Pack. Both fairly easy to get hold of. My dogs are currently on Pro Plan and on a walk on the weekend I had trouble finding the poos to pick up as they were so small -
The.dog.doesn't.need.to.be.rushed.to.the vets. If I wasn't concerned about the dogs physical well being why would I be asking?

She looks to be weight bearing the majority of the time but is still limping. She is in the house as she is still wanting to run around. I'll see how she is tomorrow and decide on the vets. I have had a BC with a broken leg and one with a ruptured ligament so I do know what they look like. This isn't one of my normal clinics it is one with an overseas trainer. Very disappointing. The dogs can't get in the pony's paddock by themselves. We go for a walk whilst pony is busy eating in his yard. He has never left his dinner before.

Straight after the incident the dog was fine. I didn't even realise the pony had got the dog until I saw the mud on her. Last night she looked a bit sore. Note the 'bit sore'. If I took her to my vet, she would think I was an idiot. So lets stop the drama, shall we. So I have a 'bit sore' dog. Herding is pretty full on exercise however. I would take her to obedience in her current state but not agility. Is that clearer?
-
No I want to know if people think I should make her run around at a clinic. Forced exercise is different from what she feels she can do.
-
Nothing is broken.
-
I will if she is limping badly in a couple of days. Right now I don't think it warrants a vet visit. She is currently running around the garden with the other 2 dogs.

My dogs and pony are being rather annoying at the moment. The pony is lonely and is hanging out at the fence with the dogs. Pony wants to be friends, think dogs want to herd pony. Either way the 2 species don't play the same way! Yesterday dogs ended up in paddock with pony., when I went to lock pony in his yard due to a squashed fence. Pony left his food (very unusual) to come and see what I was doing. I shooed pony off which resulted in him going nuts (think spring is here!), which resulted in 2 borders rushing in 2 help. Pony was in the air at the time and came down on Poppy. He did look like he tried to avoid her. She is now not quite weight bearing on a back leg. She is walking with a limp but is holding it up to run. Probably just bruising I think. Issue is I have a 2 day herding clinic on the weekend. What would you do? Stick dog in crate for rest of week and hope it heals. Pull out of clinic. She is not going to let an ouchy stop her from running flat out on sheep btw, which might not be good.

RIP Possum & hope you are feeling better Janba. I have super cute little possums that live under my veranda. They are little, reddish ringtails. They do drive the BC nuts! I was standing with a friend looking at one day, wondering what variety of possum they were, I hadn't been able to find them online. The silly thing fell off the veranda into the jaws of a BC, that immediately swung it into a tree and killed it! Literally as I was saying 'I wonder if they are a rare species'. OMG so embarrassing! I would currently like to rehome either 2 BC girls or 1 pony! They are driving me nuts with their 'playing'. The score is currently Pony 1 BC 0!

I wonder if the white Poms in the petshop were purebreds? If the colour is a bit unusual in the breed it would suggest that they weren't.
-
I am usually next to the post but have straightness issues so maybe should try it the other way. I heeled off the other day and Poppy went wide, the judge/teacher thought that she was actually going in a straight line and I had gone crooked! Damn border collies, always know best!

About as comfy as I am feeding dog meat....
-
errr it is 10% because it doesn't have fillers and uses fresh meat and veggies, so has a high moisture content naturally. Your raw food would have a similar moisture content unless you were are feeding meat meal?

My Dog Is Under My Neighbour's House......
JulesP replied to charliehotel's topic in General Dog Discussion
Is she desexed? If she isn't, could she have been got at? Trying to think of a reason why she is going under houses. -
Ohhh he is sooooo cute Ptolomy! How long does he have to stay in quarantine for?

It is funny how different dogs react to foods. Every time I go off Pro Plan the dogs coats just don't look as good. Still good but without that mirror shine they have on Pro Plan. The other foods have been EP & Nutro mainly.
