How is your daughter Nixon? That must have been very upsetting for her.

Ness I did think of something that Clive didn't like - looking at your dog. He wanted me to look straight ahead.

I have a border girl that squeaks too! Unless you have heard the racket she makes it is a little hard to explain. It is very high pitched. Most of my guests think it is cute and seem to like it. Even the guy that come last time to read the meter seemed to think it was endearing. As long as she isn't jumping I don't bother too much with the squeaking. It is not good if one has a head ache though! Telling her to be quiet makes her squeak more. My new border puppy does this funny woohoo noise when she is excited so I now get woohooing and squeaking when I get home!

I had Clive the other day for my trial run through. Only CCD though. He was nice. Didn't do anything out of the usual or want anything strange. I can ask tonight if there is anything he is particular about.

I had to almost teach Brock and Poppy to eat treats first. It didn't take long for them to catch on. Interestingly both were weaned totally on a prey diet. Didn't have the same issue with Amber, who got some kibble.

I've never had problems with the dogs. I had Fern and got Poppy. No problems. Then I added in Amber. Also had Brock (male). Poppy and Amber get on great. They are usually off together. I actually feel sorry for Brock as he seems to get left by himself a bit. What is interesting is Poppy is not good with other dogs. She has major personal space issues but has taken to mothering Amber. Poppy is desexed.

Sounds like a plan! Ta!

Do you have any rewards in your right hand?? Maybe you need to reward her heavily from left hand while she is in a static position and then reward for a few steps at a time?? Can you heel in a tight left circle? No treats in the right hand. Treats are in the left hand. Tried having them in my mouth, but I am a vego so that was a tad unpleasant! The things we do! Haven't done any tight circles as she is a pup. she did do a quite nice figure of 8 today in class though.

No don't think so Ptolomy. She sort of bends to look at my face. Lucky she is out wide actually or I would be falling over!

Sometimes I wish I was just content in enjoying them as just pets and not worry about training, cos then I'd have no hesistation in looking to expand my fur family :D But I'm afraid I'm just far too addicted to this whole training thing, so 3rd dog comes when I'm in a training position to do so I'm seriously considering giving up training(well with competition in mind anyway) because I've never had the motivation for it that you guys do and my dogs have a happy life with our long walks and cuddles on the lounge :D . I do enjoy training but more for the fun of it than training for competition. This week I've started asking the dogs for a hand touch when I recall them when they're having an off lead run it's like tag then off you go again, they love it ;) . Tiggy I don't compete much. I train to a high standard but really hate competing so I avoid it as much as possible. Did the same with the horses too. I took Amber pup into our advanced class today for a whirl around. I was sooo pleased with her. Love her attitude. The only interesting issue I am having is she likes to heel wide so she can see my face. I don't really want to fuss with her too much as the focus is lovely. Any ideas? She comes back in close when I ask but pops straight back out again.

I spoke to NG too and was very happy with what they had to say. Feel quite happy feeding it and have been for over 15 years! Fancy Feast might be the go for your cat.

My head says send her back. My heart says keep her. Not much help I know. Hugs.

I have a border collie that would be dead if he was any quieter, lol. I much prefer working with Poppy but am appreciating Brock as he is actually more consistent. Brock doesn't need training as such, but if he asks to come out when I am training then he gets a whirl around. Do you want to train Bubby? Do what you want to do and give the dog what it wants/needs and stuff everyone else!!

Is There Anyone Who Does Not Have A Heart Dog?
JulesP replied to Bubitty's topic in General Dog Discussion
I actually think it is the dog that does the picking. I agree that it is about the bond but don't think it means you love that dog more than the others. It is sort of like a soul mate thing, you just fit right. You can have more than one too ;) I had this feeling with Fern and then Poppy picked me. Haven't had the feeling with the other 3 borders although I love them dearly. -
Yeah well done Piper and Jazz

Congrats on your score Piper We successfully penned 3 times and I don't think I would have lost any points the last time we did it. So it really is just the cast. What she does is run for a couple of steps and she goes into the stalk. If the sheep don't move she stops going forwards. If they start moving she picks them up. Not really surprising seeing as she likes the sheep not moving. The hold bit went well  I did some work with Amber too and she is so different. She likes the sheep moving and happily got them out of a corner. She also fetches the sheep to me and is happy to go the length of a HT yard to pick sheep up. I hope I don't stuff her up!

Another clinic today and I had a go at B Course!! I was pleased with Poppy. She did the pen and the panels well just need to work at lengthening the cast. Did some setting of sheep too and some rounding up of naughty escaping sheep, that was really good and seemed to give her a heap of confidence. I sort of felt like we were actually working the sheep today rather than just playing. Did any of you guys go to the comp today?

It is really personal choice how you feed your dog but then the dog itself will tell you if your choice is ok! Some dogs don't tolerate BARF, some don't do kibble. BARF isn't complicated but you do have to do it properly to insure all the correct vitamins & minerals are fed and that the balance is right. Bones are best fed whole. The dogs get the benefit of chewing them that way. My dogs get 1 BARF meal a day and 1 super premium meal a day. Using the kibble means I don't have to bother with brewers yeast, kelp etc.

What Can I Feed Our Dogs Tonight?

You ok haylz27? -
I don't know what you are talking about........ Mmmmm Brock is 4yo, Poppy is 2yo and now there is Amber...... Managed to get 2 cats and 1 pony in that time frame too though

I was getting extreme entries from both sides with Poppy after doing the 2x2 but ummm I couldn't get a straight entry I did so much on the sides of the arc that I forgot straight on

I liked Artemis. I just can't be bothered ordering it. Nutro, I used the Lamb & Rice. There is also Nutrience. Pro Plan I use either the Salmon one or the Performance. The dogs just aren't doing as well on the Eagle Pack as on the Pro Plan.

Very cute pup Ptolomy I didn't mean to get my pup Amber either, certainly wasn't looking for a pup but it was just meant to be

Arrr cute little border-shelties I actually feel like a Granny as I can remember when the bitch was born. I stirred you up about having border collies. I now have a shaded sable border collie that was getting some puzzled looks from the sheltie/collie people when she was a pup
