  1. Interesting. I put my dogs on this Eagle Pack a week ago and Amber has some allergy spots happening. I was thinking it was a contact allergy but perhaps it isn't. Poppy is also looking a bit itchy along her back. I've got a bag of Nutro next, so see how they go on that.
  2. Gosh you got up quick! Are you sore today? Really nice round too!
  3. My mulch tip for the day. Avoid the pretty coloured mulch. Just put some down and watched the dye come out. Looked at my border collies and shuddered! They are normally red from my red dirt but if they go on this mulch when it is red they are going to get really stained.
  4. Friends had a cat with a really horrible skin infection. Vet couldn't clear it up. The dog decided to start licking the cat and after much licking the cat was healed! No more skin infection. Friends were pretty happy!
  5. Mud room. Cool name, I have one of those and have never known how to describe it. Mine is an enclosed veranda. If you have access to hot and cold water SmoothieGirl it means that you can get a unheated single tank, which is a cheaper option. The water goes into the single tank and the bath pumps the water out from there. The benefit of having a hydrobath rather than just sticking a hose on the hot & cold mixer is the pressure that the hydrobath delivers. You don't get quite the same massaging, fur removing effect with a normal hose. I did get a heated twin tank but am thinking about a hot water tape anyhow as you have to wait for the water to heat up and in winter that takes a while here. Also washing multiple dogs is a bit tricky. Not to mention that the element blew in a year!
  6. My dog walks often involve a glass of wine but I am not in public Mine are probably even slacker though as I go and stand in the middle of a paddock with said glass of wine whilst the dogs go crazy.
  7. Think it would need to be a dog that had to do its job without human direction. For instance a herding dog with too strong a drive would be a pain in the arse to direct. My BC hasn't been super easy to train on sheep as she tends to go into a trance! Beagles are very umm single minded when on a scent, so would suggest throwing them into the mix.
  8. Well done Piper & Janba How did the rest of you go?? Wirey is you are around have a look in general, someone is asking the difference between a Belgian & Aussie.
  9. A new member has both breeds. I'll see if I can get her to come in here
  10. I don't see it as a leadership problem either. If you go out and call your dog off the hole and it refuses then that is a leadership problem. My dogs have dug after a day out herding so they shouldn't be bored or full of energy then! I managed to stop them digging in one hole by using the poo trick but found they just dug elsewhere so I have an area that I have 'sacrificed'. I think the only way to stop behaviors like this is make the behavior very unpleasant for the dog in a way that doesn't relate to you. A guy at work used chile powder in the holes. That might not be enough for the OP dog though.
  11. Sounds like doggie hasn't been walked because Indigirl is sick this week. My borders love digging. Especially when they are younger. It has always just looked like a fun thing to me. I would just keep her off the grass. Maybe look into doing some retrieving trial type stuff with her. Or search and rescue , she would be brill digging in snow to rescue someone! Just try and remember that she isn't doing it with malice, animals don't do that (well maybe cats do!).
  12. Amber is coming along nicely. Her heeling is pretty nice, recall nice and enthusiastic, stays getting there BUT I can't get her to stand without luring Every time I try and fade the lure she goes 'nope not standing'. She has pretty much got everything after one showing but seems to have no comprehension at all as to what 'stand' is. I've tried going back to the beginning (several times). I've physically stood her, not good as I end up with a squirming pup on the floor. I tried a different luring technique yesterday (from nose to throat), no go, couldn't get her to stand at all that way. Have also tried to get her stand for dinner, only works if I use the bowl in a luring manner. If I try to shape it she just drops. She sits, drops, recalls and heels with no food in sight. Any ideas??
  13. Was that the tri Janba? Good luck for the weekend both of you!
  14. My club is running a crate games class
  15. I remember that Puppy Bars have on their website that they do ramps. Maybe they could make something up that would suit? I have a plastic ramp that I got from Petstock. It isn't super heavy. My old girl did struggle to walk up it in the end but that was into a 4wd so it was steeper.
  16. So Wirey what was the best thing that you got out of the clinics?
  17. When I did BARF it was from the book. Those patties weren't available then.
  18. lol. You missing talking about herding all day long already Wirey?
