  1. I love this photo of Poppy showing Amber what digging is all about! They had so much fun that I didn't have the heart to tell them off!! Poppy is standing up btw!
  2. The dog in question is a DOL members much loved pet. Does the phrase 'if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all' ring a bell????? I see pics on here of border collies that make me wince but I would NEVER comment on the open forum about them. Very bad manners IMO.
  3. Trial ring at club RubyStar I looked at the other local clubs Ptolomy and they all seem to do the go through the levels first. My club seems to be the most formal about it though. We do have some pretty good people helping out in our trial ring. Amber puppy now has automatic change of positions. She looks so pleased with herself I reckon I should get double points for that!
  4. Can you not take her out of classes, train her up and then ask them to assess her individually? Nope. I could not do classes and then just do the test. The only issue with that is there is all this socialisation stuff in the test. It is a bit unfair to the other dogs to have a strange dog put in just for the test.
  5. Tiggy your pup is super cute Ptolomy remember the harder/trickier ones always teach you the most. I am currently feeling frustrated with my club. Struggling with the whole 'must pass basic obedience' before you go into the trial ring. I seem to have to be fixing things up after each time I go into class. A guy next to me growled at his dog during stays on Sunday which freaked Amber out for the rest of her stays.
  6. I did find with my border collies that putting poo etc in the hole just made them dig elsewhere. I tend to have a 'sacrifice' area and the digging stays in that spot. Once they reach about 1yo I can usually safely fill in the hole.
  7. I've got one border collie currently laying in her 'shallow grave' hole
  8. Steve I reckon your dogs might be that smart Aren't they often left out in the paddocks with the stock full time? Maybe the water thing is part of that? I imagine they also wouldn't want to travel far to look for water as one of their flock might get munched whilst they are away. Fascinating! I think Border Collies however just enjoy digging. Every time I get a new pup I have at least 6 months of digging. Nothing to do with exercise etc as I have acres, they get trained everyday and I have 3 of them! I also work from home. If the turf doesn't get fixed before the visit I would be inclined to own before they got there and promise new turf when you leave. The turf is likely to get tracks in it anyhow from Bailey running around.
  9. I had a google for you On this page is the instruction sheet - http://www.hydrobaths.com.au/index.php?pag...rt&vmcchk=1
  10. It is not the coat colour that causes the merle problem. It is lack of skin pigmentation. So the ee red double merle could still end up with no skin pigmentation in its ears and be deaf. Anyone that tried such breeding needs a jolly good smack over the head!
  11. I got an X-trail mainly because it could tow a float if I had to. It has been a great car so far. Good for the dogs and nice to drive. I also liked the boot space in the X-trail. Some of the SUVs have tiny boots.
  12. I wouldn't think it was significant if any dog killed a chicken. Mine tend to round them up and haven't killed chickens when they have been around them but I wouldn't be horrified if they did kill one. Dogs kill things.
  13. I have lots of people asking what breed Amber is because she is a sable border collie. The majority of people think she is lovely so it is usually a positive experience. I'm on red soil so the borders white bits are all a bit apricot coloured. Stacks of people stop and say what a gorgeous colour the black & apricot ones are! That is pretty funny. Every second person wants to know what breed my friend's Belgian Shepherd is too.
  14. My mum had always gone to dog school with the family dogs so naturally I just went with my first pup too. He was going pretty well, just about ready to compete. I had done a few club comps with him. Then I got my second pup and she was just brilliant to work with. I wanted to have puppies with her and as I didn't want to show her I decided to get some obedience titles instead and that was my start.
  15. To explain the reaction you got Beckley85 - this is a forum for purebred dogs. Unregistered breeding is a big no-no here. It isn't just a general dog forum. Heaps of people have come here over the years wanting to know about breeding fluffy to next doors fido. We also get people starting posts about breeding just to stir the passionate people here up. This all means that some people now tend to shoot first. It doesn't make the reaction you got right but it is an explanation.
  16. I've always thought that the omegas in fish oil are 'better'. Flaxseed is just a vego option. Happy to be corrected though
  17. Is there a reason you don't want to use fish oil? That is the usual reason for using flaxseed/evening primrose instead.
  18. Lol AD I got soooo excited once when Brock did that! Sure everyone thought I was crazy. Looking good :D
  19. I know about this product for people :D It has been recommended to me as the best omega supplement for vegetarians.
  20. I hope that they don't put a sound blue last automatically if there is a dog in there with crap legs or some other structure problem.
  21. lol at Dova. I actually decided I didn't want to do the Advanced after I saw it. I reckon I would be super frustrated having to just stand in the one spot. I have trouble standing still during the cast in Started
