If you are anywhere near Lilydale go into Petstock as they had heaps of EP samples in there yesterday.

If one of my kids lost focus (more like the baby than the older kids) the moment it happened I would get into their face and ask them what do you think you are doing ........I usually find they switch back in real quick :p what do you mean 'get in their face' ? :p Poppy did another nice run through last night. Still not a happy little dog in the stays, lots of anxious feet shuffling.

It Might Be Time To Make The Hardest Decision... :(

Thanks guys. Horts you will know when it is time. I was stressing out that I wouldn't know, even though everyone says that you do know. But I did know. I had a friend that knows Fern come and around confirm it too. The last week she had stopped coming for walks in the paddock and didn't eat Monday night or Tuesday morning. The other dogs were a bit quiet yesterday but seem fairly normal today. They have each other I guess though. I had told my friend what I wanted as I couldn't answer any questions at the vets. -
The people that make the K9 soft crates do a backseat thingo. I just had a look and it has slots for the seat belts. $54 for a big one. http://www.k9softdogcrates.com.au/index.php?p=products They sell on ebay too and often at a cheaper price.

Poppy can not cope with samoyeds herding!! It freaks her out, lol. Think she thinks it is just sheep running around. We also have much more people doing the test levels, a reasonable amount in Started and then a handful in the next levels. I only wanted to do HT in the beginning! Don't know about intermediate. Poppy does drive, not sure how we will do with her driving to my orders though. She likes to do her own thing. I think I would find it frustrating too, just standing there.

We had kelpies, BC, Aussies, Belgians, Corgis, Collies, Rottis at our last clinic.

A car that I looked at that had the back seats sliding forward was the Renault Scenic. That had a stack of room in it, drove nicely and you can pick up second hand ones for a good price as people are scared of Renaults, lol. I really liked the Tucson until I drove it and then didn't like it at all. They were around the $26k price new last year so were a fair bit cheaper than the other SUVs.

Were is Greg? I guess for the clinic it is the Aussie Shep club bringing out an Aussie Shep herding person. Makes perfect sense as the breeds do all work differently. Aussie Sheps obviously haven't been used here in Australia like they have in America, it is an American breed afterall. The diversity of breeds in my herding club is wonderful though and makes it a stack of fun, I don't think the diversity is happening so much in other states??

Horts I have spent 2 years on here commiserating with people as I thought my old dog was about to go. Today she did go. And yes I finally knew that it was time. I had been waiting for the time. I did take her to the vet as she loved going out in the car and did love going to the vet. She wasn't at all stressed. The vet was great. No matter their age, Fern was also 15 and half yo, it is not easy. -
I originally taught 'go around' around a rubbish bin
-
I think I need some sheepies. Was out practicing stops and I told Poppy to 'get around' Brock (4yo border collie). She did it very enthusiastically but the look on poor Brock's face was priceless. I was . The poor baby was like 'I am NOT a sheep'!

*deelee make sure that when she does come back that you give her massive pats and send her off again so that she doesn't associate a recall with the end of fun. My little 5 month old pup checks in, it is very cute. She bolts in, licks my hand and bolts off again.

I find this rather strange as the dog would not have started decomposing. Unless he thought the green dream would be excreted. Yes he was concerned about the green dream being excreted. I really didn't want to give that level of detail but thought it would be obvious. Very distressing. -

Last time my normal vet just came out. He actually told me not to let the other dog sniff Moss as it can be dangerous if the other dog licks any fluids. I think I will be making this decision within the week too I am going to take my dog to the vets as she enjoys going there. -
As long as the dog wasn't injuring itself due to its blindness then I see no need to give it its wings.
-
Yikes. I hope she will be ok. I would want her seen by a vet.
-
I go to Nyora. There is also training in Diggers Rest. I think there is a lady in Doveton too.

I tried it today without turning the heater on and the pump works fine. So something to do with the heating. I'll call the company tomorrow. At $2,700 and used only a handful of times I want it fixed! I could have paid $500 less if I wanted to use buckets of water. And from memory there were other cheaper non-heated baths.

Send him on a holiday whilst your female is in season.
-
Colin would be perfect! Please send him down!
-
I would really, really like some lessons from a 3 sheep, border collie loving farmer type dude!!! Anyone know of anyone?
-
Have you ever called her when she has bolted off??? It doesn't sound like you have?? it almost sounds like it is the bolting off that is the problem rather than the recall? Lucky you don't have a beagle! OMG a friend's beagle used to have me rolling on the ground laughing the way it used to have a 'beagle moment' and bolt! How are your sits and drops? I find that sometimes it is more helpful to yell out sit or drop if the dog is bolting. Or even 'leave it'. I tend to yell 'leave it' in those sort of situations ie chasing something.
-
Would you believe it but it is 1 day over 12 months old! Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. I can't see any obvious problems.

The Australian Shepherd Club of Victoria has kindly sponsored the travel and accomodation of Mrs Trudy Viklund to Australia. The team at VicHerding are thrilled to host Trudy here at Nyora and are excited to offer the following opportunities for people to undertake training to assist them in moving into driving to successfully compete at Intermediate and Advanced levels. You can find out more about Trudy from her website www.doublevstockdogs.com She has also worked with (and is recommended by) Lynn Leach of Downriver Farms who proved an outstanding trainer when over here several years ago. Trudy and her husband Dave have Australian Shepherds and Working Kelpies. They have also worked with a wide range of breeds including Rottweilers, OES, Belgians, Border Collies etc. These clinics are offered at an incredibly reasonable price of $200 per dog/handler for the weekend. Fence sitters (auditors) are welcome for a cost of $50 for the weekend. This includes food during the day. Camping may be available (talk to Kate about it). These places (limited to 8 dogs/handlers) will fill quickly so if you are interested please email Kate at [email protected] and then send a $50 non-refundable deposit to confirm your booking. Refunds will only occur if the place can be filled by another participant. 31 July/1 August - Intermediate level clinic - developing driving.
