  1. Capstar looks to be ok. But please do your own research on it.
  2. The rangers in my shire have been pretty good from the dealings I have had with them. Just hard to get hold of! They really need to give out mobile numbers seeing as I assume they are out a lot.
  3. Had to have surgery and is in hospital haven't heard anything further.
  4. The dogs have been seized. Having trouble finding out what the council intend to do now as am having trouble getting hold of the ranger.
  5. Pig dogs I guess you would call them. One is a fairly typical spotty bull arab.
  6. Yep that would be it. I was there not long after 10am. Even if they didn't get out this time I will be talking to the council as they have now shown that they will attack a person and I've seen them out about 4 times.
  7. I was really annoyed about the puppies. I assume the dad was their other dog so don't know if it was deliberate or nature taking its course. The male dog wasn't too bad until the pups were on the ground.
  8. I've had Poppy in for 2 weeks since her operation. It has been torture. She just wants out! I get Amber in and then I have 2 dogs wanting OUT. Mind you when they are out they are usually sitting and staring at me inside Dogs
  9. I'm going to call the council tomorrow to see what they are doing about it. If the dogs aren't removed or contained in a very secure run I just don't want to be walking past there again. Shame as it is the street that the peacocks live on and I really like looking at some houses down there.
  10. Someone walking past was attacked. The puppies were a while ago. People on this forum were quite nasty to me when I asked about reporting them. I had just moved to the burbs and didn't know what you were supposed to do in a situation like that. If the fence had been A1 it wouldn't have bothered me as much.
  11. The owners knew that the female had a dodgy temperament because they mentioned that when I spoke to them.
  12. No haven't heard. The mum said he was really bad.
  13. The person injured might not be a child as the parents were a bit older, 60ish. They are pretty big dogs so could do a bit of damage to an adult. I got the feeling the female would bite if cornered but the male seemed ok apart from barking.
  14. Was doing one of my normal loops this morning and came across a whole bunch of people, 2 ambos and 2 rangers. The people told me to not go down the road and that their son had just been badly attacked by some dogs. I actually started a thread about these dogs when I first moved here because they were in the front yard and I didn't like the way they rushed the fence. The majority of people told me to stop being precious. I have actually put the dogs back in their yard a couple of times since then. One the dogs I wouldn't touch if you paid me. I left a note with the owners that they had been out. The behavior behind the fence has been getting worse. Mainly since the bitch had a litter of pups. I have never reported the dogs. I am feeling really really bad and like I have contributed to this person getting hurt. The parents told me it was ok and that the rangers did know anyway as other people had reported them. I don't understand why the rangers didn't do something about it either. The owners got home as I was there and were in hysterics. If I had left home 10 mins earlier it might have been me or my dogs. Last time I saw one of them out I just turned around and went the other way. Sitting here listening to a chopper which isn't good news. I hope the person is ok. I hope the rangers do something.
  15. The initial blood test for liver function isn't super expensive. I would have thought a general blood test would have been the first thing the vet did?
  16. Poppy's lump has come back as a Lipoma!
  17. My parents had to put their Goldie down. He had always been a bit strange but one day he totally turned and attacked my Dad. The vet said that was a brain tumor. He was pretty young. I would be very careful of your dog now as aggression is very common with brain tumors. If she is as sad as you say I would be thinking of letting her go. I know it is a horrible thing to have to do.
  18. Sorry you are in this situation. I would only only be getting an MRI if there was a chance that there was something else wrong apart from a brain tumor and that thing was fixable. If the vets were fairly sure that it was a brain tumor I wouldn't be doing any further treatment. I've paid a fair bit of money on 3 pets now to get further testing done but in each case the vet didn't really know what was going on and in each case there was a chance that it was a fixable condition. The being scared might not be related btw. My older dog didn't care about storms at all until her brother died and since then she has been very worried about storms and loud noises. He was quite cool about storms and must have given her confidence.
  19. I normally take a couple of weeks holidays when I get a puppy just to settle it in. During the hols you can slowly leave it for longer times to make sure all is ok.
  20. OP might be a dude, but he works 9-5 plus travelling time to be added to that. Not a good scenario for a happy well-adjusted dog. Disagree. I've worked the entire time I've had dogs. As do the majority of people.
  21. We are forgetting that the OP is a dude.... My ex-husband spends his entire time in his shed
  22. I have to admit I was a bit horrified when I read Eddie's post but then I realised it isn't much different from how I keep my dogs. My dogs have always been outside during the day regardless of whether I am home or not. They don't like being in the house. I've just had them in due to some work being done outside and they were hanging to get back out. The dogs do come in the house after dinner and seem to like that. The current dogs then sleep inside but previous dogs even used to sleep outside, again their preference but the current 2 enjoy sleeping inside. The beds have usually been on a verandah so they can see inside whilst on them. I also have 2 dogs. They get about an hours walk in the morning and I do a lot of stuff with them on the weekends, beach, parks, cafes, dog school etc They also like me sitting outside with them in the arvo
  23. Put your dog in the house. Go out with a yummy bone show the other dog the bone. Put down just out of reach of the fence, go hide and watch! Hopefully the dog will then show you how he is getting in.
