  1. A lot depends on how bad the dog is. If the dog isn't showing really bad symptoms then a homemade diet may be possible.
  2. I have a dog with liver shunts and have not found a food that compares to the vet prescribed food. Which is a problem as my dog is refusing to eat it at the moment!!
  3. Things look like they are healing properly now. Going back to the vets today to check things out but am feeling ok about it now.
  4. Poppy's wound has more bruising around it then the vets think it should have. They think she has been worrying at it but I am not sure how as I have pretty much been with her the entire time. She now has sedatives for night time.
  5. please tell me you mean tarp????? ;) *has weird visions of new grass shoots being caught in traps ............. :p * Yes tarp. Considering the lack of sleep I've had the last week I think I am doing quite well!
  6. You can kill the grass without poisoning it. You can dig it up. Or cover with newspaper and then soil or mulch, dig up in about 4 weeks. Can use a trap too.
  7. I am so very sorry. RIP Grover.
  8. Say to your friend that you really like xxxx dog of the other breeders, ask what they think and see were the convo leads you. Sometimes breeders don't like other breeders for any good reason, sometimes they have a good reason!
  9. Thanks for asking Tassie. Poppy had her drainage tube out today. All seems to be going well. She thinks she should be allowed outside so must feel not too bad. Amber is being very cute hanging out with her and they have kisses even with the cone on. I am going to go stir crazy before they do, lol.
  10. My dogs are the party poopers. They don't want to play with other dogs and usually want the other dogs to stop playing too!
  11. Poppy had her surgery today. She came through the operation well. The vet thinks it is a fatty lump but as it was slightly unusual he is sending it for further testing. Fingers crossed it is ok.
  12. I would want my dogs to growl if they heard a strange noise outside. Not sure why you are viewing that as a negative?
  13. Had an 'incident' today. A dog body slammed Amber. I didn't even see it coming. If I had known this dog was off lead I wouldn't have gone to the off lead section as I had already observed it not walking very well. The owner apologised but got quite shitty when I said it wasn't appropriate behavior and that the dog shouldn't be off lead. I broke my rules of going to the off lead section on a public holiday!
  14. Fingers crossed it is just a clean lump and she is fine after it is chopped out. At least there is treatment this time, the last 3 pets I couldn't do anything.
  15. Not really sure how long it has been there as it only became apparent when she lost weight. One side of her boobies lost weight and the other didn't.
  16. Not really sure what I have done to deserve this but Poppy has a lump in her mammary area. It is not just a fatty lump, there are other cells present. She is having the lump out next week. I am slightly freaked out. The vet doesn't seem super worried but would be being careful not to alarm me too much.
  17. So sorry Kirty. He was my fav DOL cat. Massive hugs to you and RIP beautiful Rockling.
  18. You may have to try the new "healthy Mouth" water additive - supposed to work quite well I am told. Thanks. It sounds like it doesn't get existing plaque off. You are supposed to do a teeth clean and then use it.
  19. I can't find anyone in Australia who stocks 'Healthy Mouth'. Do you know if it's available anywhere here? Try your vet. According to the stuff I've just been reading it is sold at vets only.
  20. I do like the Rogz. I've had mine for about 2 years now and they still look pretty new. Which is annoying as I am bored of them
  21. It is a special sort of seaweed. The product is called Plaque-Off. Some people have also purchased the seawood by itself. Details are in the teeth thread on this page.
  22. This is a new development as Amber used to love the L/D. It is actually the K/D that I am feeding as I got sick of the L/D being unavailable. Teeth are a issue. And one that no one has come up with a solution for. The Zuke's dental bones are meat free, not sure they do much. The Supercoat dental sticks have some protein in them but seemed to be helping. Am thinking about trying the seawood food additive. The vets and my whacky liver site seem to think that is ok. If she will chew the nylon bones you could try them.
  23. Poppy's teeth got really skanky from eating the VIP. Don't really know why. She did like eating it. Amber isn't wanting to eat the L/D She wants Poppy's food. How is Hank on rice? There is the Nutro Lamb & Rice formula. I've used that in the past with good results.
