  1. Looks like Bonnie will enjoy agility. I remember your other videos too. Most Vic clubs do want you to achieve a certain level of obedience prior to doing agility. It is just what it is. Sometimes in life you just have to suck it up and play the game. I would say that it is your attitude that is causing the problem. So next week go to class and enjoy yourself! You are pretty young so I know this isn't easy. You can do it though. Think of the prize - passing class and getting into agility. My dog will heel like crap too if she knows I am stressed out. When you walk think happy thoughts and almost skip. Smile too. See if she heels up better then. Watch your voice too, keep it light and happy. You should be starting to reduce the amount of treats that you are feeding as you get higher up in class so I wouldn't take that as an indication that this is a bad club.
  2. How do you feel when you are in class? Do you feel tense because Bonnie isn't performing?
  3. I have a dog with a congenital issue that didn't have a good prognosis. It is pretty rare in the breed and was diagnosed at just under 12 months. I didn't expect financial contributions from the breeder. I did expect some care factor and moral support. Which I didn't get. I didn't expect financial contributions as it isn't really something that you would test for and is in the 'shit happens' category.
  4. They do have to act within their powers though. In this case it means applying to court to get the dangerous dog application approved. The rangers can't just say a dog is a dangerous dog and that is it. In NSW you don't have to apply to the courts to get a DD application approved - rangers CAN just declare a dog dangerous. But they have to ensure they have the evidence of the incident as the owner can appeal the declaration in court if they want to. Can't appeal menacing. Why is Hazywal saying that the ranger said a judge has to look at the declaration then? The Ranger is talking about if the owner appeals the declaration in court. That is not what Hazywal appears to be saying. She said:

The rangers can't just say a dog is a dangerous dog and that is it. Even with the dogs near me the ranger was saying they had to build a case and if any of their evidence was wrong it could get chucked out. It is upsetting that the owner of the dog isn't doing the right thing here. There was another rather aggressive dog on the same road as the dogs that put the guy in hospital and when I walked past next time there was a big shiny chain on his gate. Makes me feel safer. After my dog got attacked I never walked out from my home again. I just didn't feel it was worth the risk. I used to drive to places I felt were safer. My farrier did suggest that I carry a walking stick with a nail poking out of it. I am still quite tense about the breed of dog that did the attacking too.
  7. Poppy likes to run up to random people squealing in joy. She then whips around so they can scratch her on the bum. The squealing is very, very loud. I have pretended that she is my friend's dog a couple of times! People ask what is wrong with her and I usually reply 'she just loves you'. The performance when she actually knows the person has to be seen to be believed!
  8. I just got some Wahl ones from Clipperworld that cost $54.95. I haven't used them much to say how long they are going to last but they are chopping well. I think I only had Wahl ones when I was grooming anyway. I chop bum hair and I shortened Poppy's tummy hair as it was almost on the ground! She has a lot of coat.
  9. I know quite a lot of Belgians and their coats are pretty boofy. The hair sort of sticks out rather than laying down flat and slick. They swish when they run! I know the males are supposed to have a big lions type rough. So it sounds like your boy's coat is fine.
  10. There was very little news coverage of the attack near me that put a man in hospital for over a week. He required surgery. And was very lucky he was saved when he was or it could have been fatal.
  11. I'm quite aware of that. Pockets said the vet she consulted was an hour away on the other side of town. I was simply bringing to her attention that a specialist was available in Essendon which is much closer to her in case she needs further consultation with a specialist Dermatologist. It is the brothers dog and he might not live in Werribee.
  12. Pockets has said that the dog has been to a specialist vet.
  13. What I just don't understand is that councils will impound dogs because of what they look like but seem unwilling to take action when there is an issue. I am sure I am not alone in thinking this!!
  14. Thanks Mel exactly what the ranger just told me when she took my statement. Really? Down here in Vic the ranger was going to go after vet bills in court for me.
  15. She can dig her heels in as much as she likes but it will just mean that the council press charges. Or they should. I imagine that will make it all worse for her. The dogs really need to get slapped with a dangerous dog or menacing dog order too. Yes it sucks that someone left her gate open but dogs that act in that manner do need to be treated differently. I hope you and your dogs are feeling better soon.
  16. I read that they were on a narrow pathway. It was also 6.30am so would have been darkish, although there were lights on the oval. Quite possible that the dogs acted in a way that they never have before and took the owner by surprise.
  17. That is horrible! Are you ok? Hope the doggies recover ok.
  18. How about something like this - http://www.eurodogdesigns.com/Hurtta-Waterproof-Fleece-Overalls_p_143.html I've recently got some coats from this company and the service was great. There are a couple of different ones on the site too.
  19. Both of my girls are pretty small too. Just measured them and they are around 45cm tall. Amber weighs 14kg. Poppy is a fatso  My males have stood around 50cm though. Could you please post a pic of your little girls. They're such a pretty breed (as well as being as smart as a whip). To show size here is one with them sitting next to their Belgian friends. The black Belgian isn't a big Belgian.
  20. Really? A Border Collie can be as small as that? In which case I stand corrected and offer my apologies. I know about Rottweilers and Cavaliers but have little to no knowledge of Border Collies. I need to learn so I shall Google and won't be so quick to correct others in future. 21. How is the pup today? Bloat isn't the only thing that can cause a bloated tummy. Amber gets a lot of fluid (ascites) in her stomach from her liver condition. It was the first obvious symptom. The vet originally thought it was her heart so that causes ascites too.
  22. There are lots of reviews on line. I decided against one after some research. But my dog was bothering her stitches already so I didn't want to chance it.
  23. Sorry you have lost your dog and your other dog is sad. When my first border collie passed I really thought my other border was just going to lay down and will herself to death. It was horrible. So I did get her a puppy friend. Whilst she was never quite the same she did pick up and lived for another 4 years. It sort of aged her overnight. Since my last oldest dog passed away the next oldest, Poppy, has developed a fear of storms. The older dog was fine with storms and Poppy showed no anxiety when he was alive. She is spookier with loud noises in general. My younger dog is still not worried by the storms and looks at Poppy like she isn't sure what the problem is. I have seen her trying to comfort Poppy too. Poppy is ok as long as she is inside the house during the storm and near me. I would also suggest getting professional help.
  24. If I see someone jogging towards me I tend to assume the person will give me some space. Some people don't. Coming from behind you don't always hear them. It really pisses me off when they zoom past really close.
  25. But the dog owner did help her He gave her his t-shirt and walked her to her car. She then said she was ok to drive. Ok he should have done more but he didn't just nick off immediately. The other people probably didn't offer to help because she was with the man. It wasn't like she was staggering around alone.
