  1. I have had two bitches - one with mammary tumour and one with a pyometra. The mammary tumour was removed when she was 8 years old and she was desexed at the time. I was told the tumour she had was a very aggresive type but she lived until she was 14.5 years. Last year I had my 13 year old girl not looking good - rather flat. Took her to the vet & she had a very high temp, had a bit of loose bowel motion but nothing dramatic. Vet thought it was a tummy bug so gave antibiotics and we came home. She was drinking (not excessive) but wouldn't eat, next morning flat as a tack so back to the vet, they took her straight in & placed her on fluids. Following day, vet called to say he thought it might be pyo although she wasn't really showing any symptons. I made the decision for them to operate & yep, pyo was the culprit. They took it all out and four days later she was home. She celebrated her 14th birthday in January and doesn't look to be going anywhere just yet. They told me she was very lucky.
  2. Ella sucks on her mother's ears till they are dripping with spit eewwhhh not a good look but Kitty never tells her off. My oldest Brandi when she wants attention pokes you with her front paw and I mean poke LOL gee it hurts sometimes.
  3. Hey Rozzie, yes I might be there on Saturday :)
  4. Yes, it was very sad news & Glenyse will be greatly missed by her family & friends. She will be remembered for all the beautiful Hillacre shetland Sheepdogs that she owned & bred - not only here in Australia but overseas as well. Rest in peace Glenyse - am sure you will never be forgotten.
  5. I became involved with my breed when my sister in law bought her bitch up to Sydney to be mated. I had never seen a sheltie before and instantly fell in love with the breed. I was lucky to get a bitch puppy from her litter, was mentored by the sire of my puppy & started showing, joined the breed club both NSW & Vic, read any book I could get my hand on. I was very lucky and my girl turned out to be a lovely example of the breed. I also took on her brother who had a great show career too. My first litter was a nightmare experience, but as I have been told, stay in a breed long enough and you will encounter all. I only breed when I want something to continue showing and make sure temperament is up there with conformation. Will be 20 years in November when that first beautiful sheltie entered my life and I am sure they will be here for the next 20.
  6. I will check when I get home but I had a canvas print done at a very reasonable price - had a special that you only paid 30% of the price. I just can't remember the name of the business at the moment. Took about 3 weeks to receive picture but was really pleased with it.
  7. A Shadow of Shelties - mine always follow to see what is happening
  8. here is Ella as cute baby & my boy Connor with his teddy (he is now 8)
  9. You may also find something on Dr Jean Dodd's site - am sure she discussed it when she was out here. There are also tests available for certain breeds too.
  10. Had to go out early this morning but was back home by 10.30am - already felt hot then. The dogs & I have spent the day in the aircon - happy dance for ducted air. There is some grumbling going on so hopefully the predicted storm isn't too far away and will cool things down.
  11. What about one on crate/pen training? My dogs love their crates which makes it so much easier if non doggy friends call in or I need to do something around the house without them trying to help.
  12. How terribly heartbreaking for you Caz - all our love & thoughts are with you RIP Buddy - gone too soon but will never be forgotten.
  13. Thanks Sway - was starting to think I had missed the world challenge finals.
  14. Awwww how damn cute is he? He is just so cuddly :D
  15. Wow, how good is he, still working at 93. He is certainly a living legend
  16. Don't think there would be sheltie in him but he does look to have kelpie x something. He doesn't look like he has much growth left but he is a cutie, isn't he? Could also have some german shepherd way back too with the widow's peak on his head.
  17. Has puppy been vaccinated? Just that if she is only six weeks, when was the vac given? My pups are vaccinated 6-7 weeks and then don't leave for their new homes until a further two weeks later (or maybe longer). Good to hear that she is eating a bit better.
  18. Thinking of you Teebs and poor Atlas - hope you have some better news tomorrow. Try and get some rest tonight if you can.
  19. Can you please post what state they are in? It might then make it easier to track down the breeder or if possible, can you PM the link and maybe one of us can ring & ask a few questions.
  20. Will get the tickets out of the car & give you the splits that you all want :)
  21. Here you go Bel Dally - Sat 17 Sun 16 Tzu - Sat 7 Sun 4
  22. Am sure it was a mannie that I saw :)
  23. Allison has only been trialling Stella since March so she has been blown away with how well she did. Amypie - I think you were set up near where I was standing in the stands. Am sure I saw a manchester :)
  24. Here is a photo of the girl that I bred - Weownah Hot Gossip GD (Stella) and her ribbons & medals from the National. I was so proud to be there to see her owner Allison Harvey & Stella win 1st place in Novice Agility Final. Stella's stash from the Nationals... Qualified and placed 5 times in 6 heats. 2nd Place Excellent Gamblers, 3rd Place Novice Pairs with Pat & Angel. 3 titles, AD JD SPD. Total of 8 medals including the big one.... 1st place in Novice Agility Final.
  25. Went out the National finals this morning - what a great venue with the indoor arenas. I was lucky to see the girl I bred take out 1st place in the novice agility 300 class - so proud of Allison and Stella. They have had a great time at the Nationals with Stella taking home 8 medals and gaining three titles. This little sheltie only started trialling in March so I am super proud of both of them. Congrats to all the other who competed and either placed or did a personal best. The sportmanship out there needs to bleed over to the conformation shows.
