  1. Just a bump to remind people that Sydney Pet Expo is on this weekend. :D
  2. No I don't refer to myself as their Mum but I do tell them when "Nanny & Poppy" are coming for a visit :D They know who I mean as well
  3. Shel, will say hi as I think the sheltie stand is next door to the sibes this year :D I will be helping out on the Dogs NSW stand on the Saturday and will be on the Sheltie stand on Sunday. Looking forward to it
  4. Is your dog crate trained? Can you supply your friend with a crate so that he has his own bedding and she can contain him at night to prevent any accidents?
  5. Well you could perhaps cut & paste the list of dog breeds shown in the breed section at the front of DOL - just because it is written on a website, does not make it gospel There are miniature in some breeds ie poodle, schnauzers, bull terrier but these are registered breeds.
  6. Looking at the other breeds available on that website says enough There is no such breed as "teacup" anything. Your friend needs to research pomeranians and see what a correct pomeranian looks like. Poor poor dogs on that site.
  7. Is that so the cresties accept him :D I think I would prefer him to be all one length
  8. Is she desexed? Could she be coming on heat and she has become hormonal?
  9. My friend in the USA sends me a calendar every year from Keynote Specialties. Put out by the Mid Florida Shetland Sheepdog Club - It is a monthly calendar which has a beautiful photo of a sheltie for each month. It also shows on each day below each date, the whelping date that your pups would be due ie on the 1st January underneath it shows Mar 4 which would be pups due date. It also contains a growth chart at the back of the calendar. I love it - have kept each calendar for the last 12 years or so.
  10. I use Detachol to remove glue from my sheltie ears. I put some onto a cotton ball and let it soak into the hair around where the glue is. Make sure it is not going into the ear canal. Then I work it into the area by softly rubbing. Leave for a couple of minutes and then with a fine tooth comb, gently try to comb the glue out. If it is not coming loose, repeat all the steps again. Are you close to where your breeder is? Could you take the pup over and get them to remove the glue and reset the ears for you?
  11. Yes it is illegal but it doesn't seem to stop the neighbourhood around here from letting them off. I will probably be hearing them every night till New Years Eve and for a time after that.
  12. Yes, it is "typical" of my area. They have been letting them off for the last week or so. I am lucky that they do not scare the dogs - just makes em want to go out & bark at the noise. When I hear the boom, boom I am not sure whether to duck for cover in case it is gun shots :D ;)
  13. How lovely to see the members of his community coming forward to assist him. Shame on the person who made the complaint in the first place. Hope they realise that through no fault of their own, they could very well end up in Mr M's shoes one day.
  14. Can you believe it? It is 11.30am and I have fireworks being let off somewhere in the neighbourhood. It is bad enough during the night but in the daytime Have had to lock the dogs up so they are not out there barking. So fed up with the bangs & whistles. Just wish they would blow themselves up gggrrrr
  15. Ooohh I think you both are very brave calling litters "Crazy" names You must let us know how they all turn out or whether some live up to their names :D
  16. Bee cauz Bee naughty Bee There DoneThat Bee Utiful
  17. I don't think any dogs are shown in ring 1 as it is set up for Santa and for the kids to sing along etc. Working dogs are normally shown in ring 3 at Xmas show.
  18. Yes, would be pushing to have a sheltie girl back in the ring when pups were six months old.
  19. I wish someone would design a bath/tub that you could have installed in your laundry. Laundry tubs are too small for what I want and a hydrobath is too large and I really don't have anywhere to put one. I did find a tub that was perfect but was in the UK and the postage was (10 times the value of the tub).
  20. My sheltie girls end up looking like mini salukis with the amount of hair that they lose
  21. You could also look at a sheltie as well - love being with family and will fit in with what you are doing. They also do very well in the obedience/agility scene as well. Some can be barky but with training, will just give an alert bark. Maybe you could write down a list of breeds that you are interested in and then try and locate an all breeds show near where you live and go and see some of the breeds in person
  22. Quite a lot of houses in the US don't have fencing around the property perimeter like we do. My dog friends in the US leave their dogs outside in runs. I have four here at home - two go in kennel runs while I am at work and the other two have the run of the yard.
  23. All the old classic Lassie movies, K9, and used to love watching the TV series Rin Tin Tin.
