  1. So sorry this has happened Kirty - I would have cried too. I think many an average dog owner simply see aggression as something dogs do and are not particularly worried by it which just served to compound the problem. Big hug to Toby and hope she doesn't have decreased confidence due to this. We have been rushed several times by dogs in our rural area and I must say it makes my youngest nervous while we are out walking.
  2. I have a standard poodle and miniature poodle who are best buddies. It helps that the miniature poodle is older and she really mothered the standard puppy when we got her and she is also the boss while the standard girl is a softie with not a mean bone in her body. So, it can be done but I think the nature of the two dogs is important. It has also been my observation of many years of owning standard poodles that their play style is not rough - ours could play in the house and not destroy the place. They are very playful dogs but very aware of their bodies - they do not slam into each other or furniture but are very nimble and athletic - they are not rough when they wrestle and mouth. So, consider the play styles of the two breeds you are wanting to put together. The standard weighs 26kg and the mini 7.5 - she is smaller than she appears in this photo
  3. There are very ethical poodle breeders who show UKC because the dogs do not have to be in "show trim" , the dogs are owner handled and they also allow other colours such as phantoms and partis. Can't comment on other breeds in UKC
  4. My first show dog lived with one one other dog, (a desexed bitch) and she had her first season at 14months and was as regular as clockwork every 6 months until she was desexed. My mini bitch came in around the same age and does not have a 6 mth cycle (she lived with another - very regular bitch for several years) and this did not change her own pattern. All different - though I do think bitches in a large pack will eventually have cycles that are similar
  5. What an absolutely terrifying way for an owner to lose an elderly dog.
  6. This little girl lost and alone breaks my heart.
  7. Google a condition called "groomers alopecia" - it does happen
  8. Who could forget the "poodle" sheep in Japan    I think the "poodle" ferret is a joke. Mind you - we do call our mini poodle "Ferret' sometimes as she is so feral
  9. Still hoping that Cyan will be found
  10. When my youngest bitch had her last puppy vac which included Kennel Cough (I don't normally vac for this) my two older dogs got what seemed to be a very mild case - I didn't take them to the vet as they were not sick but definitely a slight cough
  11. Pixel is microchipped and a reward has been offered. Police have been contacted. Please share and help Pixel find her way home
  12. Prayers for this little one - hope she is found today
  13. Cleo - I see that there is a Friends of the Belconnen Dog Obedience Club on facebook - would it be possible to share Pixels info - I couldn't work out how to do it - don't use facebook much. Thanks.
  14. She is an absolutely gorgeous little thing and they adore her
  15. They are on holidays and were visiting family - placed Pixel in car and went to get their other dog and she was gone - matter of seconds
  16. This is Pixel who went missing from Bonner in the Act at 9am this morning. It is very possible that she has been stolen. Her mum is Quoll from DOL. RSPCA and vets in the area have been contacted. Pixel weighs 1.8kg and has some fur growing back on a front leg due to her recent desexing operation. Please share Pixels details and photo.
  17. Currently Miele front loader - previously had an Asko and actually prefer the Asko but would never got back to a top loader. Front Loaders save water, gentle on clothes and actually clean much better - never get any fluff - can't comment on dog hair as I have poodles but I do wash my dog towels in it and bedding and don't have any problems.
  18. Second the poster who said you need to totally dry the coat after washing. Bacteria and or fungal microbes thrive in a moist environment. Don't leave any moisture in the coat (wear a mask) it will be like a snow storm
  19. The tomato juice thing doesn't work for skunks so I would avoid that. What Haredown said!
