  1. An Elimination diet identified the foods that my first brown standard poodle was allergic to (red meat, grains (esp wheat) and chicken). I am with Anne - I too was confused as to how you would conduct and elimination diet while the dog is on cortisone ??? If your dog is unable to have raw meaty bones why don't you clean the teeth ??? Best of luck
  2. It is just fantastic to know that there are people out there like Dr Tony looking after our animals  . Hope you little man makes an excellent recovery.
  3. If I am walking my dogs in an area that is not a designated offleash area I don't see why I should have to contend with you and your off leash dog - well behaved or not - I don't go to off leash areas so that I can avoid off leash dogs.
  4. If the condition is uncommon I don't think the breeder could have foreseen the possibility of it happening or taken steps to make sure it didn't - if this were the case I don't think anyone would breed dogs - it is not an exact science it is not like producing something on a production line. If you were sold a faulty product and it is still under warranty - you return the product and it is replaced. Bearing in mind that some things are NOT covered by warranty depending on the type of goods ....
  5. Why don't you pop over to the poodle and collie threads in the breed sub forum - have a look around and ask some questions :)
  6. Yes, definitely enough exercise for a standard
  7. Me too ZZ, off food for 24hrs and then introduce small amounts of her dry food soaked in water or cooked chicken and rice if she has tolerated that in the past. Saying a prayer for your mum and hope Zamba's tummy improves
  8. Not surprised either -a lot of people are very selfish and rude these days!!!
  9. That is a big call on a public forum ....
  10. The vet advised a dosage in an emergency situation and the guy seriously overdosed the cat - how is it the vets fault????
  11. These are competition dogs - they enjoy the attention - much like show dogs. This is not something done in a salon for everyday pets. I can definitely admire the skills taken to achieve this even though I don't particularly find this example attractive LOL. At least hair dye and weird scissoring washes and grows out.
  12. Sorry to hear that CC, glad she pulled through
  13. Some excellent posts at Last!!!!! Agree Diva - I have been rushed so many times by roaming dogs I have lost count. Personally, I would much rather face a couple of roamers of the smaller variety that I know I can do a bit of damage to with a kick than anything medium or large
  14. I agree with Hairdown! Take photos of roaming dogs - keep a log - make an appointment to see the mayor - ph the local paper and ask to be interviewed about councils reluctance to act !!!! I have lived in two different councils and both have acted when I have been menaced by dogs. However - I did know where the dogs came from - they were not just out and about. Although, rangers in the first council spent quite a while trying to catch a stray dog who was living in a drain - eventually she was caught by a local, impounded and found a great home. I think it is easier when you live in a smaller community.
  15. Thank you for your very sensible posts Sandgrubber !!!!!!
  16. There are nut jobs everywhere However, I don't expect people to let their off leash do rush/run up to a dog who is on lead even if it is an off leash area. Use your brains people and call your dog back if it wants to go interact with a dog that is on lead. I do not want your dog to interact with mine that is why I leave it on a leash until I get to an area where there is no one about. I do not let my dogs interact with dogs that I don't know. Off leash areas are not just used by people who like dogs to mingle - some of us take our dogs for exercise and fun I would think that if a dog is on lead that is a clear signal that they would rather not be approached by other dogs!!!!
  17. Hoping for good news of your boy this morning.
  18. So glad you thought of that, Haredown, hope it can help this boy
  19. If you are not strong enough to control the dog then don't walk it. If you are not strong enough to walk two dogs then don't do take them out together. If your dog(s) are aggressive and you want to walk them in public then put a bloody muzzle on them - it isn't rocket science.
  20. And so it continues http://www.goldcoast.com.au/article/2013/05/30/452491_gold-coast-news.html I am so over irresponsible dog owners
  21. Exactly - should breeders be ignoring temperament when they select breeding animals - I hope to goodness they don't!!!!!!
