  1. The Basenji that was RUBIG/Puppy in Group, was my 11month old boy Zuka (Langarni African Bintu), owned by R and J Palmer... Sway well done on Hudsons wins, he's a spunky little man...
  2. Well done Troy, and big thanks for listening to the masses :-)...
  3. I have just recently read a similar story about 2 Basenji's that this happened to as well... Sadly it took over 2 years to finally have the dogs diagnosed, but thankfully after the dogs owner changed her treatment, the dogs eventually recovered... Very distressing for the owner, who felt terrible guilt for doing this to her dogs...
  4. I have 6 Basenji's, and completely agree with Kavic... They are a medium sized breed, but that's about the only thing that would suit the OP with this breed... A difficult breed and not one to suit the OP...
  5. Yep another one here who thinks he is nothing short of brilliant :-)...
  6. I third this... He has gone above and beyond for me many times before, as well :-)...
  7. Looking for some help from the DOL brains please... Our beautiful ACD Crystal, went back to her owner for a litter... She is co-owned by us both. She was unwell with swollen glands for the week leading up to her whelping, but A/B seemed to help her somewhat. Roll on to a week later, 4 gorgeous babies were born... 3 boys and 1 girl... Sadly 1 boy didn't survive, but the other 3 are doing well...All going well we will co-own a boy with Crystal's owner... Unfortunately Crystal deteriorated and has been diagnosed with Leukaemia, (she has approx 1-2 weeks to live), and has now been taken away from the pups, for her own benefit, and the 3 pups have been given to another bitch, who has readily accepted them... We are absolutely gutted, and still in shock :-(... So what we are looking at is 2 boy and 1girl reg names, with either the theme of 'miracles' or 'gemstones'...
  8. Thanks for all the replies guys... This was a 2 year old bitch, quite mature, but not the 'finished product' just yet, a little out of coat, but not horrendously so, and the only one of the breed... She doesnt like the ring, doesnt really have any 'ring prescence' at all, but you can see her movement clearly, and being a short coated breed, there is nothing to hide on her at all... The judge appeared quite annoyed as to being questioned, politely, as to why she had witheld the challenge. It was done after the judging was concluded for that group. She didnt like being asked, and the reason for witholding was quite ummmmmmmmm.............................. ridiculous, and very reluctantly given. I was just curious as to whether judges were obliged to give their reason, tis all... Ellz, no not my dogs :) ...
  9. Just wondering if judges who refuse a Challenge, has the 'right' to not tell you the reason for refusing the Challenge???
  10. Tasmania also has Statebred, Ausbred and Open at all our shows, Royals included...
  11. Ooops - my bad - TAS is now in! :) :D....
  12. Mmmmmm cant answer the survey as Tas wasn't included in the states column ...
  13. I had one of my dogs have a small prolapse, the middle of last year. He was a young 18 month old entire male Basenji. We went ahead with putting a suture in and he was on a sloppy diet for about 6-8 weeks, as well as twice daily doses of Lactulose, and a course of A/B as well. We very gradually weaned him off the Lactulose and back onto his normal diet, including raw meaty bones, and has had no issues with it at all. Dont know what caused it, or why it happened. There are no incidences of prolapsed bowel in his lines as far as my research tells me...
  14. ACD's once a day in the mornings... Basenji's are all fed twice a day otherwise they will all vomit bile, if not fed quite close to 12 hours apart ... Just a handful of kibble in the morning, and their main meal is at night...
  15. My ACD's absolutely looove the drumsticks. They dont get them often, and sometimes leave some of it, (not often !!!)... I gave one to my Basenji's, and that was an epic fail, , with all 4 of them, didnt know what to do with them at all. :) .. Just took off some of the meat and left all the bone !!!
  16. Hey Hounder, let me know if you are going to go with the semen option, I may just join you in the freight part ...
  17. I just wanted to have a brag about my gorgeous young homebred Basenji, who was awarded best Baby in Group, yesterday, at Hobart Royal :D ... Zuka, (Langarni African Bintu), was brought back to life just after his birth, and was the only boy in a litter of 5. I didnt want a boy, so I kept pick bitch, but as I suspected, he was probably never going to leave here , even though I kept saying I wont keep him, over and over again !!! He's had 7 show's for 6 baby of breed's, (his sister beat him the 1 day she decided to behave in the ring !!!), 4 baby in group's and 2 baby in show's. We are off to general specials tomorrow , followed by another all-breeds, and a hound club show on Sunday... Im a VERY proud owner, breeder shower, (except my daughter shows him :) ), and owner of this gorgeous young boy...
  18. See if I can remember todays results... BIG 3 Gordon Setter. RUBIG Weim. BIG 5 Puli. RUBIG B.C. Baby B.C. Puppy B.C. Statebred ACD...
  19. Yep, Im also VERY happy with all the care and attention that Wayne gives to me and my dogs, and I would highly recommend him to anyone who will listen :) ... Completely agree with indigirl about how he leaves any other company for dead, as well ... Hey Wayne have we done this to you yet !!!
  20. Thanks Sway... I have to tell you what Mr Hudson did just in front of me, when he was in the Junior in Show lineup at the Royal... Ashley was talking to him, I think, and Hudson was looking up at him lovingly, then instantly decided he had had enough of this showing caper, and sprawled out on the grass, like a frog, giving his belly a HUGE rub, as he crawled a few paces along the grass, at the same time :D ... Ashley told him, that now is not the time to get quite THAT relaxed !!! It was soooo funny, just wished I had my camera with me !!! He successfully entertained a few people then !!! Congrats on your wonderful wins at both shows too ...
  21. Ohhh crap Shek, Im so very sorry to hear of that diagnosis... Ring if you ned to talk... Forgot to send you big hugs too...
  22. Just a little brag from us at Launceston Royal... We got BOB ACD with our lovely leased girl Crystal, Beauvest Country Crystal Blues , who then went on to best Intermediate in Group  ... We were also awarded BOB Basenji with our lovely Vanda, Ch Wazazi Living Doll ... Her son Zuka, Langarni African Bintu was awarded Baby in Show the following day at the Tasmanian Kennel Club all breeds show... Very happy with our guys results :D ...
  23. Yep it was another Whippie... Owned by the lady who is friends with Kerry and Judy, (Judy helps show her dogs too), if that helps at all !!!
  24. Oh Sam, Im soooo sorry... I know how much you were looking forward to having babies from these 2 wonderful dogs ... Puppies in 2013 sounds good though :) ...
