  1. oh :) i hope his health is OK ..and that he gets over the shock well . Great work from all concerned- may the thieves be prosecuted soon!
  2. THIS THREAD contains a lot of discussion for you to read :) Unfortunately, it doesn't deal with a brachy dog and hot weather ... yes, it is VITAL that your pup be kept cool - and remember - cooling gel mats are terrific..but an unsupervised pup will probably chew it . With your toys etc too, remember , your pup will have a flatter face , and may not be able to use/work some of them as well :)
  3. Try beef tendons or pizzle sticks :) Also make iceblocks ..ice cream container (large) 3/4 fill with water ..drop in a sliced apple , a few bits of jerky , some meat chunks and a chicken wing. Freeze for 24 hrs ... put it outside ..leave him to it!
  4. Now would that make to stop and take a second look? it needed a second look - first look I was several inches too high!!! She looked quite disproportionate , but was fit & friendly & healthy ...
  5. ............ righttttt............. Looking forward to the results :)
  6. A friend had a corgi x red when i was a kid. Awesome dog. :) He looked like a red with his legs cut off. The first time I met this dog was hilarious . Was watching her sitting up proud in the driver's seat of her boss's car .. admiring her boofy head, and colour ... so her boss opened the car door ..and I burst out laughing when her chest was almost on teh ground!
  7. Come back, Gomez- your baby needs you!! :crossedfingers: they haven't contracted a bug while away from care and that Sofia is not too stressed .
  8. one of the oddest was an ACD X corgi! All ACD markings & shape - with 3 inch legs!!
  9. McDowell Herbal have the following to say CLICK HERE with the ingredients ..perhaps ask someone to make you a batch ? neem/seaweed etc ...
  10. Zzzzzzzzzzapppp! Hmmm 'Love the smell of singed fur in the morning ....' ;)
  11. Glad you have destroyed their 'castle ' :) They apparently stole next door dog's bones ? LOL . Did you nail the blocks down, or tie them on ? They may have carried them to another spot if not ..but they will probably have eaten them ;) I gave up using blocks for that reason ..now use pellets in containers .... If you are washing anything ..floor, joists etc ..use Urine-off or similar , so it doesn't still have the rat's 'ownership' markings on there . let's hope they don't come back!!
  12. Epic!! Glad you and the hounds are home in one piece .... Hope also that all your new toys give you much pleasure now you aren't on the move :) ps:did you find the beer?:p
  13. the baits may be pet safe as in where they are situated ..but the chemical is not one of the ones I would consider ...Here is a diagram showing how many G g/kg is needed for a lethal dose . Using that diagram .. a 10 kg dog would need to eat 50 grams of Brodifacoum but kilograms of Difenacoum . it is always such a balancing act ... and one gets very creative as to where one puts bait ..so animals/little humans can't get to it - but where the mice will naturally find it .... It is always a challenge !! Thanks Perse - yes it is a balancing act. Luckily for me the main spots for these baits which are enclosed so 2- leggeds and 4 leggeds can't get to the bait paste - is in firmly closed cupboards in the kitchen. The only advantage that I could find is that the brodifacoum is very effective and kills the buggers more quickly than the other options - which is why the professionals use it. And I certainly had a real problem that if I didn't get control of was going to spread to the rest of the house. I feel sorry for the meeces - but the moment their constant overnight partying kept me awake their days were numbered! know the feeling! We have bait out continuously these days ..in teh hope that very few mice = low numbers/no snakes around buildings!
  14. Oh I've not seen those. I went to Bunnings and bought some Big Cheese bait yesterday. They had plug in thingies but there's no power in the shed so no use. Where do you get the battery ones? Apparently there was a party in the shed in the evening. I heard a noise quite early and Vienna was quite agitated several times. I'm a bit scared to look in there..... just google "electronic rat zapper" there are many types /brands ... The one we have certainly works on mice ... and apart from a slight smell of singed fur, and the disposal of dead things, is ok for the odd visitor ... for a houseful , bait would be a better choice , I think ...
  15. yes!! They go thru batteries fairly fast though ...
  16. Looks good - your dogs are so settled -looking :)

  18. Although attrition rates were still high , when I worked with the breeding side of Guide Dogs .. temperament was a BIG part of selecting breeding stock .
  19. I guess different species metabolise things differently ....
  20. I know that looks to be a wide safety margin, but am I the only one who thinks it's weird that it's not written per kg? Found this ..does that help ?
