  1. maybe silly question... have you taught them to 'hold' items until you release them from the task?
  2. he WILL put on weight , yes. IF you feed him more food than he needs :) Simple. If he is stopped growing and is less active, then he needs less food ... hang off castration for a while, until you are sure what is happening with his front end .IF he needs an anaesthetic ,for xrays or treatment , perhaps a couple of things can be done at the same time .. the less anaesthetic the better . (I had Hamlet done when he had a foreign body removed from his gut) ...
  3. stroke? head/neck injury? maybe an infection around her brain? Hope you can get some images or bloods done ASAP & find out what's happening.
  4. has anyone tested his faeces, or seen a sample? if you are near a big vet hospital, or the Werribee clinic ..perhaps see someone there who is good at digestive issues ... Your dog may well be sensitive to certain proteins , and will need a proper diagnosis before you can learn to manage the diet , and to save changing every so often . Hope you get some useful info from those on here who also have dogs with special dietary needs. :)
  5. I think the not bathing dictum was sensible way back when ... , to help protect against the entry of dirty water and possibly infection . ..now, with filtered water and dogs not usually totally immersed the risk is a lot lower .
  6. I had Hamlet tied up for a little while on the porch ..and Bernie thought he was in heaven... a captive audience! :)
  7. That is such good news :) It must be hard for them ..and just awful for poor Oreo .
  8. Could it be anxiety? he is older, and may not move as easily between the farm and your place ? A thorough vet check will hopefully put your mind at ease

  10. Why not give her her food? the more food in her gut to pad out the bones the better , I think. Lots of dogs eat cooked chicken bones regularly ..mine have scrounged them quite a few times. I just give food & psyllium husk . Causing vomiting may not be a good plan.. if there are sharp bits..they can do an awful lot of damage coming up the wrong way
  11. aahhh . Hope the damage is not permanent- poor little guy. how did I miss this ..apologies.
  12. I guess we will never know what exactly happened ..but an aroused pack of powerful dogs are capable of pretty much anything, moreso if these dogs didn't know each other or the rescuer well.
  13. me either. How sad... R I P young lady..you tried to do good things.
  14. Whatever you are feeding... cut back by 1/4 ..or a half , while he's sedentary . Too easy :) Put kibble in a Kong, or a 600 ml soft drink bottle ..he will enjoy getting it out ..and be satisfied with less.
  15. I have seen this twice ...with dogs I knew. There was a lesion on the brain , and dogs were PTS. They do need a vet opinion , or have him PTS at a vet. How sad
  16. Awww :) Thanks for the update !
